  3. One thing I am always on the look-out for is talented writers in various areas of the country. That way, we can get them to more shows and therefore provide more feedback about UK wrestlers and promotions to our readers. If it were up to me, I'd have two writers in every county in the UK, going to every show imaginable. The stumbling block, of course, is finding writers with the desire to do that. If you are a writer and would be willing to attend shows (we'll organise your tickets), please e-mail me at contact@fightingspiritmagazine.co.uk.

How exactly would that work Brian?

  4. Picked up the new issue yesterday, it looks another superb read from cover to cover, with plenty of features, coverage and variety. In my opinion, if you tweak the columnists and freshen up the look of the magazine, then you'll have the best wrestling magazine out there.

  5. I agree that the columnists need shaking up. Also, I'd like to hear them talk more about 'current affairs' than any old thing they can be arsed to write about. They can start a web blog to do that.

Lance Storm's column is fine, but just comes across as a bit boring now probably due to the length of time it has spanned. I find Nick Aldis to be ok, but his subject matter is always so random and directionless. And Bill Apter's columns always somehow seem to revolve around him and who he knows, which again to me is suitable for his personal web blog, not a wrestling magazine. And the RD Reynolds one is dreadful. Last month's about Velvet Sky's bra size? Come on, that's just lazy.

A new panel of columnists would be much appreciated, and, along with a new look, would in my opinion complete the fresh overhaul of the magazine.

I've suggested him before, but Mark Madden would a great FSM columnist I believe. Some of his Wrestlezone columns are excellent, and he always writes about current wrestling affairs in an entertaining manner, whether you agree with his opinions or not.

  6. To anyone who hasn't bought FSM under the new editorial; it is going from strength to strength and is developing into an excellent magazine, covering a wide variety of wrestling with both depth and accuracy.

  7. A quick question guys. Shawn Michaels vs. Marty Jannetty won the Power Slam magazine Match of the Year award for 1993. Which match was this though? Was it their Raw match in May where Jannetty returned and won the Intercontinental title, or was it their one in July where Michaels won and regained it via the help of Diesel?

    Cheers

It's the one from the 19th of July with Diesel involved.

Cheers mate. Next question, do you know if it is available on any WWE video releases?

  9. I'm about a quarter of the way through Jericho's book, and to be honest, I'm a little disappointed so far. Don't get me wrong, it is entertaining and well written, but so far contains too much for my liking about Fozzy and the music side of things, and not enough about wrestling. Obviously these are only my preferences and others may not be bothered about this, but for those who are expecting a pure wrestling book, it isn't shaping up like that so far....

It was never intended to be a "pure wrestling book" - it's an autobiography of his entire life, and as such he will talk about other things he did before/during his wrestling career.

I never said it was - hence saying these are my tastes, and that others might not be bothered by my gripes. However, I'm sure there are others out there, especially following the first book, who would buy the book expecting it to be a wrestling one, and if so, I'm giving them a heads up that it's not entirely the case.

I am struggling to think of a wrestling autobiography that doesn't cover things like childhood etc.

What's that got to do with anything?

My point is you want a wrestling autobiography to talk SOLELY about Wrestling. Good luck with that.

As per PITCOS's reply to your point, I clearly didn't mean that in my original post.

  10. Uh oh, that's the big thing that lessened my enjoyment of Foley's books after the first one, going off on too many non-wrestling chapters. I'd hope Jericho's music business stuff is more interesting than reading about Mick's charity works though.

*Shudders at recollection of chapters from 'Foley is Good' on Mick Foley's favourite theme park rides

  14. How much was it? I ordered it from Waterstones' website about three days ago because they didn't have it on pre-order status, but it's stuck on "waiting for book from supplier" status. I might go into town and get it and cancel the Waterstones order.
