Although I enjoyed Goodfellas and thought Casino and Taxi Driver were fine, I do agree that his later stuff has been much better. The Aviator is fantastic.
Â
The fuck!?!?!
Â
Yes, Aviator is a great flick. But Scorsese in his prime IS Mean Streets / Taxi Driver / Raging Bull / Goodfellas / Cape Fear. THat's when he was pushing the envelope and pioneering. Today he lives off his own formulas established decades ago.
Â
To this day he still makes tremendous films - take The Departed. But even that does not have the iconic status, or the special place in history as the above. Will time put it that category? Perhaps? But I can't see it.

Just watched The Sting for the first time. After watching a lot of Paul Newman lately, I'm becoming a big fan.

Full Moon has became a right whinging bitch lately hasn't he?

Then I guess I'm just fitting in more

In about sixteen years time we'll probably look back at John Cena in the same way as we look at this clip now.
Â
Shut up you clueless cock.
Â
Have I offended a Cena fetishist or a Men On A Mission fan?
Â
No, you have not offended me and I am neither of the above frankly. You just irritate me with your ignorance and stupidity.

I'm watching The Deer Hunter for the first time in about an hour. I understand that it's quite a film. Quite looking forward to it.
Â
Its over rated in my opinion. Didn't stop me getting a Dear Hunter T-Shirt though!
Â
Hope you enjoy the wedding scene! You'll know what I mean in an hour...

Vampiro: Angel, Devil, Hero

Â
A very nice documentary with some really great parts like when Vampiro is in wXw in Germany.
Â
Was this the Vampiro film that he was plugging a while back? I thought that was a feature length project? If Bob Barnnett still posts here, maybe he can fill in the blanks. Its my understanding they are pretty tight.

Interesting little find. WWE wrestlers giving their thoughts on Steve Austin. Recorded in 1999.

Just came back from the Curious Case Of B2 with the girlfriend. Must say, what an utterly fantastic film. A pure example of a story structure hitting all of the right points in the mind and in the heart.
Â
Eh?? It's an utter failure as a story.
Â
In the terms of the films narrative, and dialogue pushing that narrative and establishing the films tone, in what sense do you mean the story was an utter failure?
Â
Right so you're so saying because the film establishes a tone it's a success? The story doesn't work because of the reasons I listed when I reviewed it. The characters are extremely unengaging, the film's central premise doesn't actually have any effect on anything barring a stupid decision the title character makes at the end. The framing device is lazy and ultimately pointless. As a story, an interesting story, it misses the mark by miles.
Â
OK Mr Angry At The World, lets try that again
Â
No, that's not what I said in regards to tone. You said the "story" was an utter failure. I listed some examples of what makes a story (together) and asked you, specificly, to point out what was an "utter failure" in your opinion. I didn't catch your review, perhaps you could link to it if you have it covered?
Â
I don't know how you can say the characters were unengaging (albeit, EVERYBODY has different taste, so I respect your opinion) but to me, the characters are all very well mapped out, from a very young age. We see them at their young innocence, confused teens, horny development, realistic realisations, maturing demenaures, and with olding knowledge. We share their moments of joy, sorrow, laughter, distain, jealousy, doubt... Perhaps if you found them unengaging, which I don't doubt, maybe that is more due to your own acute personal tastes, rather than a films shortcomings? Tell me, do you listen to angry music? What were your parents like growing up?
Â
What is this stupid decision they make? SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read
I take it yoiu mean Brad Pitt's decision to leave the family, as he knew he wouldn't be responsilble enough to handle it, even though he badly wants it. But having seen so much death in his reverse life, he cannot bear to die inside, whilst his own child watches that. i.e. the perfectly well thought out, yet still common sense decision?
Â
Â
What aspect, of what framing device do you mean, as there are several within the film. It is a very multi layered story.
Â
How can the story now be "an interesting story", if in your last post it was "utter failure". And if it misses the mark by miles, what mark was that supposed to be exactly? As by my reasoning, the film checked off all of its objectives? And without the "backwards" device, the story would simply not work. So how is that a pointless element exactly?

Â
The only negative thing I have to say about the film was that I saw it in a very small Odeon. She forgot her glasses so we had to sit right up front, and the bottom of the bunch? The next screen was playing "Notorious" and during silent moments of intimacy, of which there were many, you could hear strong bass heavy music try its best to wreck the moment

101 Reasons not to be a pro wrestler (part 1)

I can give you 101 reasons not to watch this pile of shit...

Jim Ross, like you have never seen him before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p84faX9OA8...re=channel_page

Â
That didn't do male wrestling fans any favours.
Â
I can still remember my dad and brother loved when that came on. "Told you wrestling is for poofs".
Â
Nice father
Â
Anyway, I found this little video interesting, its Sting on GMTV in the early 90's, when WCW was trying to break into the UK market. He compares the WWF and the WCW. I wonder whom he was talking about at the end?

As an old school fan of Punch Out, I must say, class!

Bloody hell, yet another TNA wrestler who had a WWE try out and wasn't awarded a job. It must be a running joke in some circles.

Â
It doesn't look that great to be honest. Just some more blame being laid at the door of wrestling for America's shitty social problems.
No its not that at all if you watch it, its just on about how wrestling influences society from an unbias point of view
Â
Yes you can buy it, if you have a couple of hundred pound lying around.
Â
This was made for schools in America, it is not comercialy available (hence the use of footage they do not have rights too, including TV network logos), but you can buy it from education resource providers. Not too sure whether you have to provide a school. college etc though?

and the third was one was merely good.
Â
Why lie, Sir? It was the shits. And Sofia Coppola provided one of the worst screen performances ever! Godfather and machine gun helicopers should never meet... Interesting point though, Sofia was the baby being baptised at the end of the first flick...
Â
I would love to be in your position though and have a line up of these sort of classic films I haven't seen. Unfortunatly, my passion for digging out gems has faded over recent years. With a changing work schedule, it does not afford me that much spare time to watch too many movies.

I am currently playing Mortal Kombat DS.

Mortal Kombat was a weird little impulse buy. I was in Game, and realised it was a direct port of the SNES Mortal Kombat 3, which I loved dearly. So for

I hate the "English" release title of that movie. I was quite the JLH fan a few years back so got the DVD from the states. I was even a member of a JLH fan forum where some guy from the UK called "Trotter" would daily post pictures of her with love letters etc...

I just went for the wank tank:

"The Happening" has to take the Razzie. Disaster Movie/Meet the Spartans barely even counts. You can critically pan these pieces of shit as much as you want, but nobody expects anything from them anyway and it almost seems reduntant to point out that they're rubbish. "The Happening" on the other hand was supposed to a be a return to form for the exceedingly overrated Shyamalan, and it was absolute garbage on every conceivable level.
Â
I don't think "exceedingly overrated" even begins to cover it. Sixth Sense was great, but by the time Unbreakable came about, you could tell by his press interviews, that he thought he was the "man". The arrogance / complacency is what led to the downward spiral (literally) from the first picture to the Happening.
Â
I think it is very rare that Hollywood directors "lose" a position, lose the funding from the large studios. Most simply choose to leave the system and enjoy the fruits of their labour / go independent. But I can see M. Night being shafted. How many studios can now cue up to give this man millions? I think the independent scene will come calling...

To mark my debut into the Blu Ray generation, I bought the Planet Earth boxset. I have not seen the series yet, despite all the hype it gets. I have only watched the first disc, but it is incredible! I can't wait to watch more!

I enjoy reading the magazine. Often when it comes out I'll bring it to Starbucks for its first read. Mostly enjoyable, although there are a few elements I don't like but then I just simply don't read those elements.
