  1. I saw absolutely zero buildup to this card so was going in blind. When you open up the main card on a morning and see the running time at almost 3 and a half hours, you know you're going to see some decisions.

The show wasn't the greatest and as I watched Saint-Denis absolutely manhandle Poirier in the first round I thought I was seeing another young lion run over an established legend of the game. Poirier's corner told him to stop pissing about with the guillotine, second round comes and he goes for a bloody guillotine and he's on his back again. I assumed it was a matter of time for our Dustin, only for him to absolutely STARCH Saint-Denis.

Unbelievable considering how dominant Saint-Denis looked in the first 6-7 minutes or whatever it was. Had me shouting at the telly and cheering did that, lovely moment. Not even a huge Dustin fan but forever a fan of watching the old guard getting it done and fair play to him, he was fighting a young bloke on a tear and he came out in top. Moment of the whole show for me.

Can't remember a lot else apart from it was lovely to see Joanne Wood leave on a win, and will be interesting seeing Robelis Despaigne moving forward, bloke KO'ed his opponent while running backwards, looks about 9 foot tall an all.

  2. Have not been arsed for these past few Apex UFC's at all, used to watch every fight night without fail but I skip loads of events these days but I'm firmly back on board for this, tremendous main card.

Old Man Volk's been having me laughing my chops off all week, from the first skit he did for the betting firm to the press conference, he's hilarious, and a top bloke from everything I've seen. We'll miss him when he jacks it in one day. 100% rooting for Volk on this one, love the guy.

  3. Was sat near the bottom end of 113, must have got lucky as didn't have any drunken pillocks or folk trying to get themselves over or anything. The energy in the crowd for me never seemed to wane the entire time. Saw some scrapping and somebody getting ejected at the very back of the floor seats, can't remember what match this was during.

Everything from start to finish was just really enjoyable, loved the main event and the panto of it all, came across really well in such a huge venue. Sting's entrance and just arse dropping Swerve when he didn't break the table the first time were personal highlights. Tony Khan losing his voice going absolutely fucking mental at the end was hilarious.

100% off back next year, as are the lads I went with. Will hotel it this time and make a weekend of it. 3 hour drive to Wembley and 3 hours back was a killer.

Pay MJF whatever he wants in 2024. He's a megastar.

  4. The Weidman thing was depressing viewing but yeah, at least he wasn't knocked out or his leg didn't fall off or whatever but Dana said he's done his knee in and he wants to see him retire. There's no point him coming back, it's not going to get any better for him. Fair play coming back from that injury to being healthy enough to have another fight again but he was on his way out before the leg snap and here he was just following Tavares about looking for combinations that were a mile off.

Garry looked incredible. Wasn't this guy just a quiet little Irish bloke 2 or 3 fights ago? I don't remember him being this much of a poor McGregor clone, he was essentially a charisma vacuum that could barely string a sentence together. Totally dominant performance though although it's a bit shoddy when these up and comers call out aging fighters for a (potentially) easy win against Wonderboy, who has apparently declined the fight, which I'm glad about. Wonderboy is too nice a bloke to get added to a Garry highlight reel. Reminds me of Big Nog/Nelson, Colby/Maia, Cro Cop/Schaub. Depressing viewing, glad Wonderboy/Garry isn't going to be added to it, based on this performance Garry would leg kick Wonderboy's front leg to the moon.

Weili was...Weili. Dominant and whereas Lemos was 'ard as nails as it were, she never really troubled her.

Wasn't expecting an O'Malley win. The UFC have apparently uploaded the ENTIRE fight to YouTube. Not even with the title 'O'Malley Vs Sterling', it's something like 'O'MALLEY KNOCKS OUT ALJO!!!' Dana must be buzzing. Not sure who O'Malley fights from here, maybe Vera, there's an angle you can sell pretty easily there. Fair play to Aljo who was super humble and respectful as an entire arena booed the shit out of him at the start of his post fight interview.

  5. I watched the prelims, most notable thing being Russian Chase Hooper with the head kick knockout, the sound of that shot.

Tony is so finished it's unreal. I think he was lucky to go the distance considering his chin, and he's physically aged about 10 years since that Gaethje fight. I haven't seen it since but I remember him being BATTERED in that fight, and the way he was reacting to the shots just before the stoppage was all off. That fight did him in. I don't want to see him fight again, the Green fight was sad viewing itself.

God Bless Derrick Lewis. A flying knee of all things, De Lima never recovered. Post Fight stuff was all great TV, the crowd were on fire all night but they were absolutely buzzing off Derrick here and rightly so.

Gutted for Jan because he seems like the nicest bloke ever but IMO he did lose the fight. He was knackered in rounds 2 and 3.

I'd done that time old thing of waking up this morning of going 'UFC last night, better not go on anything on my phone' and then absent mindedly opened YouTube and read what I thought was 'Dustin Head Kick KO' before promptly shutting it, so I assumed I was about to see Poirier Head Kick KO Gaethje, and watching  the fight Gaethje was leaning to the side when taking shots at times so I was certain that's what I was about to see. Shocked to see it happen the other way. Interesting to see where they all go from here and glad Gaethje gave it the 'I don't really care' about McGregor's drunken tweets post fight. I don't think McGregor fights again tbh, his face is about 14 times the size it was a couple of years back and he's minted anyway. I think he's got zero chance against a Gaethje or a Poirier at this point.

  6. Tremendous card.

The Robbie Lawler victory and subsequent playing of the tribute video while he stood watching in the Octagon was absolutely wonderful. I can't think of another fighter that's announced ahead of time it's their final fight and had that flawless a performance. I really hope he stays retired because it was perfect and the guy deserves it. MMA feel good moment of the year.

  7. 50 minutes ago, Egg Shen said:

Yeah, he seems agitated. It might that it's first fight on PPV and he's trying to stir it up, but I do think we may see a more aggressive Haney tonight looking to stop Loma. Haney says he's expecting a dirty fight so the agitation and aggression it probably him getting ready for it.

Here's the Taylor/Cameron lineup too, its solid:

Believe the Harper fight is off as of this morning.

  8. The last three fights on this main card were fantastic.

Glover deserves all the credit in the world for not just staying in the fight, but winning the fight on the cards until the choke. I thought he'd get steamrolled by Jiri and I'm glad I was wrong. Just an absolute batshit, utterly barmy fight. I'd been spoilered on the main event before watching and still found myself in disbelief mid fight thinking how does Jiri actually win this? Glover has only got one or two fights left in him I'd assume, I'm not sure who's next in line but you could sell a rematch easy with the narrative that Glover was up on the cards. I'd love to see them have another.

Don't think Shevchenko won that fight. Santos's grappling was a step ahead. Bizarre to see Shevchenko look normal, the headbutt/eye swelling helped her out a bit in the later rounds. It was never 49-46 in a month of Sundays.

Weili/Jedrzejczyk was another barmy fight while it lasted. Probably the right decision to hang them up now before she falls further down the chain. Assuming and also hoping that Weili decimates Esparza.

I did watch the rest of the main card and the main prelims but I'm shot to pieces with those last three fights I can't remember what even happened.

    Brilliant show, epic main event.

  9. This show had more of a BKFC feel for me. Was humourous to see several thousand Metallica fans in the crowd that couldn't give two fucks about the fighting and just wanted to see the concert.

The Rampage/Shannon 'feud' is embarrassing, just looking for a payday and with the money marks behind this thing, they're going to get it.

  10. I'll watch the WSOF card this weekend. Don't think I've watched one since the one with Arlovski & Johnson. I don't really know too many of the WSOF lot but there's enough there for me to watch. That and there was nothing to watch last weekend. I'm lost without combat sports on a weekend. This and the Golovkin fight will do nicely.

Haven't got a clue about the main but I'm assuming Hamill will get twatted. He had nothing left last time I saw him fight.

  11. On paper he's got a punchers chance but I also remember that I would have bet the house that Bader would have destroyed him. You never know with MMA. Like you say, it'll be an amazing story if he pulls it off. But anyway, McGeary by TKO.
