  1. Joe boy does like to give the old showboat doesn't he? If only they'd met five years ago.

Calzaghe would have outworked Jones five years ago too.

Five years ago Jones would have destroyed him, it wouldn't even be competitive just his fights against Hopkins and Toney weren't and it would have just been Roy throwing right hand leads past that southpaw defence all night long. To think any differently simply shows that you haven't got a clue.

I do love the auld message board 'if you disagree with me you dont have a clue' line of thought. I disagree wholeheartedly :)

Makes me laugh all this 'Jones in his prime' cack. Its not like Calzaghe is in his prime either, his KO power has gone. If I remember rightly Roy had a big reputation for dodging decent opponents during his prime too, the Calzaghe fight wouldnt have happened if Jones wasnt on retirement row.

  3. Any Argento fans out there?I watched Mother Of Tears last night... erm, I suppose its kinda what you'd expect off Dario n crew when they have a bit of a budget. I loved Suspiria (seriously, possibly my favourite movie ever), Inferno was good too, but this not so. It has its moments, typical Argento kills, but the acting kills it in parts. Asia Argento is god awful, plus there is a bloke outta Footballers Wives in it (quite a big role too). Complete lack of some of Argento's hallmarks (use of colour and music particularly) spoilt it for me too.If you like Argento flicks and have seen the other two mothers, watch this to round out the trilogy. If not, stay well clear.

  4. P2

Good without being excellent. A couple of really nasty moments that if you take in the whole film look slightly out of place (still welcome though!). Dont rate the lead guy in it, fairly wooden especially when he is supposed to be 'mad' in the film. Im sure everyone will appreciate the lead gal in it though...

  5. EquilibriumAnother awesome Christian Bale flick. Ive never been in the mood to watch it before (too many comparisons with the bloody Matrix series). Really good though, the premise is excellent... plus Im sure there is some deep, hidden critique on society somewhere in there! Weird thing is it looks a bit dated and its not that old... may be that was the plan?

Equilibrium is strongly influenced by George Orwell's 1984" and Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World", you should read them if you ever get the chance as they're both excellent books. There's a film version of 1984, but it's not very good.
Yeah, Ive read 1984, some relation to Equilibrium. Never read Brave New World but heard of it. Will have to seek it out, cheers :)Ive just rented P2, supposed to be awesome and scary. Will try and watch it later n report back!

  7. Watched Straightheads on Film4 last night. Better than expected, but still ropey in parts. Danny Dyer does his usual schtick, but a little better than usual. Gillian Anderson looks surprisingly hot in it too, which shocked me as much as the storyline. Very Straw Dogs too.Got Frontiers on DVD, cracking French horror. Id recommend to any one. Its by the same guys who did Haute Tension, so any one who has seen that knows what they'll get here. Nazi-zombie cannibals
