  1. Lot of excellent stuff to choose from but if it's just 3 for each category;

    Best British Wrestler:

    Martin Kirby

    Robbie X

    El Ligero

    Best British Match:

El Ligero vs AR Fox vs Tommy End - Southside

Robbie X vs Jay Lethal - Southside

Zack Sabre Jnr vs Fujita Jr Hayato (1st one in March) - 4FW

    Best British Promotion:

    Southside

    Rev Pro

    Fight Club Pro

  2. Wasn't at PCW but saw Vader last night at BCW and I must say he put in an astonishing shift in his match and was very involved. Did all of his signature stuff and had a big smile on his face like he was having a blast.

He must have been saving his energy for BCW because he looked completely blown up after hardly doing anything at PCW. He was so tired he needed to sit down for a lot of his pics during the in ring photo op after his match.

  3. I didn't expect AJ to be there as if he was booked it wouldn't have been kept vague it would have been promoted like crazy, but I did think that maybe there would be a video come up on the screen where he tells Lionheart he will take him on next year (when he is over here anyway). So even though the fans didn't get to see AJ this time, I thought there would be at least something of a pay off. I think to so strongly tease AJ and give the fans nothing involving him directly was a bit disappointing.

I was worried when Vader was announced against Mastiff as it a man of Vaders size, age who worked such a physically intense style is clearly going to be very limited in the ring. I thought that the best thing you could do would be to pretty much do what WWE had him do when he came back, just destroy an annoying heel character in about 5 mins. Rampage did a really effective and entertain squash match on the Halloween show and I thought something similar for Vader would protect him and get the most of of him. Ultimately we got to see Dave Rayne take the Vader Bomb and if it was announced Vader vs Rayne from the start everyone would probably have been happy enough to see that and not much more, but by booking him with Mastiff you expect it to be somewhat competitive and it simply couldn't be. It didn't do Vader or Mastiff any favours, especially after the last shows where Mastiff looked awesome against Steen. You can't blame Vader as he's not been able to do much for a long time but he needed to be put in a different situation to get anything out of him other than pure novelty of seeing him.

The head shaving stipulation was also another case of teasing something and not delivering, if neither guy was willing to lose their head then they shouldn't have had a hair vs hair match. It was a good match and it would have been entertaining without the stipulation ever being included in the first place but it felt like a cop out after nothing came of it. It's a shame because Joey and Trav worked really hard and damn near killed themselves for the fans and ultimately the lack of hair being shaved will most likely be what is remembered and talked about rather than the match itself. So stimulation aside that was by far the best match on the show and Joey and Trav deserve a lot of credit for their effort.

  4. To be honest I felt like the last shows were too comedy heavy so I'm relieved that the 4 main comedy guys are all in one match on next show rather than being spread out. I don't mind the odd comedy match and all the guys are good at what they do but one per show is enough for me.

I have no idea how much Vader can do these days so I was expecting to see Vader just destroy someone (somone like Bubblegum or Rayne), get his signature moves in and look like the monster and gernally have a squash match that would protect him. But now he's got Mastiff it's going to have to be competative so it will be very interesting to see how that goes.

Also Steen had best match on every show from past weekend, please bring him back.

  5. Really gutted to see Dave Mastiff pull out but it is totally understandable and somewhat inevitable looking at how bad his hand looked in that accident a week ago.

To be honest I haven't seem much of Dynamite so don't really know what to expect from the match now. Hopefully it will be good, Dynamite has a lot to live up to getting such a big opportunity on his PCW debut. If the injuy to Mastiff had to happen it's a shame it came so late when all of the PCW regulars are already tied up in matches and angles. Davey vs Trav or Lionheart would have been awesome or if you were bringing someone from outside in Davey vs Gallagher that would have been insane.

  6. Very pleased to see Kirby given a a chance with Liger, I'm not sure many people would have predicted that match but I think it is a great choice and Kirby is well worth the opportunity.

Both Kirby and Allmark have been great for PCW and around the British scene in general but often seem to be under rated by many people, so it's great to see their hard work noticed and rewarded.

  7. I thought last time Davey was here it was such a shame he was kind of lost in the shuffle in a multi man match and never really got to show the Preston crowd his best, so fingers crossed it will be a one on one where Davey can shine. I'd be very happy with Mastiff vs Richards (if they can work together!) but I'd equally be happy with Trav vs Richards too. As Trav has blown the crowd away with his recent matches with Masters and Steen, so I'd be happy either way.

I hope it's not Dar if he comes back in time, as he and Richards already faced off in Southside last year. Don't get me wrong I like Dar and he had a great match with Davey but I would just love to see something new and different especially if this is Davey Richards last UK appearance before signing for TNA or WWE (he claims he is in negotiations). I also hope it isn't Dave Rayne as part of an angle as Rayne is always talking about not liking the imports, again I like Dave, he is pure entertainment in PCW and but I don't think it would be the optimum use of Davey. Lionheart would be a decent shout for their long overdue rematch, but I'm leaning more towards Mastiff or Trav as while Lionhearts been away they have been doing so well and I don't think it would be fair for Lionheart to jump ahead of them for a big name like Davey after only just coming back.

Machines vs Team Sinlge should be very interested, as should Lufisto vs April. The October show has by far and away the best set of imports PCW has ever had, I'm really looking forward to it.

On Friday shows I thought the venue wasn't as good as Lava but I thought it was still a good place to have a wrestling show. Miles better than 53 Degrees for views.

As for PCW using a lot of similar talents to other North West Promotions, I have no problem with that at all, as the reason for them being booked on them all is because they are the best. If PCW tried to book talent that wasn't being used on those shows it would bring expenses right up to get talent to Preston from much further away or they would be bringing in guys who just aren't good enough to be booked by the others. I'm very happy to see Cyanide brought in as he is great, Danny Hope has been hilarious and is super over with the fans, and if PCW brought in Zack Gibson and Jack Gallagher (when he comes back from Japan) onto the full time roster I'd be very happy.

  8. I believe Lionheart won the rumble match earlier in the year and the winner got a title shot, since then he has disappeared from PCW.

I actually liked the end with Lionheart, as for months I've been thinking 'why give Lionheart the win in the rumble if he isn't going to be around?' so for him to finally come back and cash it tied it up and it was a good unexpected end. I knew Lionheart was there and didn't for a second think that he would be wrestling, never mind cash in the title shot that everyone forgot he had.

I always think people who effectively have a money in a bank style title shot carry round a briefcase or something and it completely advertise the fact they are going to cash it in, in some instances this is fine, but I like the fact that this was allowed to fade into the background so everyone forgot so when it finally was cashed in that it was a surprise. It was a different way of handling the stipulation.

  9. I also think Ligs vs Doug will be a lot better, I also wasn't wowed by Dar and Dougs first match. Both great talents but for whatever reason it didn't seem to click, so the idea of 60 mins if it didn't click again was a bit worrying.

But seeing Doug put in his best match for a long time at Southside last weekend against Haskins, and Ligs being Mr Reliable when it comes to match quality I think this could be a much better fit.

I'm hoping we get Davey vs Travis or Mastiff, either would be first time matches and good opponents for Davey. Trav has proven how good he can be against the imports and Mastiff and Davey seem to have unfinished business from the last time Davey was here.

Since Cage and Elgin are both on the show it would be a shame to not use them as a team so UFM vs Team Single or Mastiff / Moss would be ideal but I wouldn't be apposed to Project Lucha either.

Also surely Trav vs Steen II is a must for the SuperShow, their first match was amazing and after Steen got the win Trav needs the opportunity to get a win back.

  10. Footballer David N'Gog now at Bolton went to a WWE show in Liverpool while he was at LFC.

I'm sure I read some Man United players including Wayne Rooney went to a WWE show in Manchester a while back.

Also I've not listened to it yet but Yakuza Kick Radio have a lot of US indy names like Rukus, AR Fox, Dave and Jake Crist, Tremont, Blk Jeez, Uhaa Nation and Joker. Basically seems like the CZW roster so it might be worth checking out if you like Combat Zone.

  11. Very good PPV yesterday i thought, You can tell that Delirious how has full booking power. This, Glory By Honor and the last load of TV tapings have been a step in the right direction. Everything from Final Battle is good to great, Wolves vs Fish and O'Reilly and the Ladder War were the best matches of the night. Looking forward to what lies ahead in 2013 for this company.

Also agree, things definitely picking up over the last few weeks in ROH. Now the Wolves are back as a team it creates some new dynamics as it gives a shake up to the tag division and opens up spots at the top of the singles for different guys to step up. After a rocky period good to see ROH building up some momentum heading into the new year.

  12. I Want Wrestling was really interesting - Dave Lagana talks to lots of former WWE writers and gives you an impression of what it was like behind the scenes. They aren't doing it now since Lagana works for TNA.

MLW / Konnan Show Former WWE and MLW writer Court Bauer, St Laurent and Konnan's pod cast is really good, lots of good guests and Konnan always has a lot of interesting stories and isn't afraid to ask anything.

Art of Wrestling With Colt Cabana Maybe the best of the wrestling relating podcast's in my opinion, his friendship with the guys he interviews means he can ask a lot of questions and get answers that a regular journalist or interviewer simply couldn't. Some of his shows are hilarious.

Between The Ropes - It used to be great when it was a weekly show with 3 hosts but the format has changed recently. Still a good show with some good guest, but worth checking out older shows in the archives if you can, great series of guests, good discussion and really funny.

Indy Corner - Good for getting interviews with the UK guys. As you don't get the chance to hear much from them in general, so always very interesting.

Xtreme Odd Couple with Steve Corino and Rob Dimension Not just about wrestling but wrestling is still the main part of the show, really funny banter between the 2 hosts.

If you go on You Tube You can also find a lot of In Your Head interviews on you tube with lots of different guys and there are also a fair few wrestling shoots up on there too.

    Other couple that might appeal to others but didn't do much for me;

The Joe Rogan Experience Not wrestling, and in this podcast not really MMA, but since he is so heavily involved in UFC it might still be relevant to some. Only listened to a couple, he has a lot of interesting discussions about all sorts of random subjects and comes out with some pretty unusual theories about things. He is very in favour of the legalisation of pot and I think he might smoke a lot of it before he does some of the shows I heard. It certainly makes the shows different from the type of discussion you would get on the others and either makes the show a lot better or worse depending on your viewpoint.

Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe It's hosted by Mike Quackenbush but from few I've listened to it's more a podcast about pop culture and not about wrestling at all. Can be interesting if you are interested in the subjects they discuss, but I imagine Quack has a lot of interesting stories and lots of good connections in Wrestling that he doesn't really use on this.

  13. Would love to see more articles on British Indies, maybe longer interviewing the various promoters and talent. Fight Club Pro doesn't get much / any of a mention considering their surge from obscurity to one of the most exciting shows over the last 18 months or so. PCW, IPW, Southside and Progress all get a mention now and again but for the quality of shows they are putting on deserve some more column inches.

I'd also like to see more on Japan and the top USA indies, not seen much about CZW and how far their product have come since DJ took over.

I always think most people will have access / have seen TNA and WWEs recent shows so although many readers will only know about those 2 products, so they obviously need focus to sell magazines, but do you really need to talk about them so much as most of the time you will be likely be telling people about stuff they just saw rather than giving them new info. While there is so much exciting / variety being shown in so many other promotions around the world that deserve to be heard about.

I love my Japan and indie stuff, but I don't know a lot of the back story of many of the guys, the the piece on Tozowa where it explained where he came from and how he got to his spot, explaining some of his key moments that lead him there was a fantastic read and told me some stuff I genuinely didn't know and gave me some excellent matches to check out.

  14. I like the fact FSM over the last few months isn't focusing as much on TNA and WWE and is publishing more articles about the many other parts of the wrestling world. Really enjoyed their articles about Davey, Steen, Tozowa, Pac, etc from more recent issues.

  15. Pretty much. So far this year outside of iPPV and TV tapings they've only done three shows, two of which were included on the same DVD. The Philly show did look decent, but would probably have been seen as a strong Friday night or just acceptable Saturday show back in the Gabe days.

Thanks, I'm so far behind on ROH, i was trying to watch ever show but it's hard to find the time. I'm going to watch all the A shows and weekly TV from the start of the Sinclair deal to get up to date.

When did the non A shows become not worth the effort? I'm trying to watch the old ROH shows and I'm just up to the show where Jerry Lynn loses the belt to Aries, and up to then all the shows seem pretty decent, but I obviously want to cut out the non essential viewing to save time. I'm desperate to get to the Generico and Steen split / feud, so was there a watershed that I should just stick to the main shows from that point onwards?
