  1. I thought part 1 last night was pretty average. Far too much time was spent recapping The Beatles; I wouldn't have minded so much if it was all about George's role within The Beatles, but i wasn't. Also, alot of the anecdotes we have heard a million time before. Does George Martin really need to repeat for the millionth time the "I don't like your tie" story again? He even mentioned it at the fucking Queen's bash at Buckingham Palace in 2002. The Big Train

    is more apt than ever.
  2. Sorry but for me George was the most over rated Beatle. There is something really smug and self satisifed about how everything is an unenlightened twat except him; you can pretty much hear the audible patronising head shaking when he says "If they only knew" in "Within without you". I don't know about you, but I don't really like getting lectured by drug addled 24 years olds at the best of times. Even the most memorable solos in the Beatles catalogue weren't performed by him ("Sgt Pepper", "Taxman", "While My Guitar Gentle Weeps"), and his best tune ("If I Needed Someone") ripped off from the Byrds version of the "Bells of Rhymney".

Having said that, All Things Must Pass, is a fantastic album with a large help from Phil Spector. Check out that echo on "Awaiting on you All"!"

  3. Why was the first Survivor Series VHS release impossible to find? Before the WWF sold all of their old video stock.

It was a Silver Vison 'Mega Mail' mail order exclusive.
The reason it wasn't sold in the shops is because the sound quality is so awful. I got the Dusty Rhodes DVD from Silver Vision last week, excellant set but I just noticed: It doesn't include the Billy Graham Texas Bullrope match. Anyone know why?
  4. With music, the rights for use at a live performance and the rights for use on a recording (video or DVD) are sold separately. Usually the rights for recording are much more expensive. This is why Booker T's music (which WCW originally bought in from an outside group) is used on TV but not on DVD releases, and is also why the performances of America the Beautiful are sometimes cut from WrestleMania DVDs.

A good example of this in 'regular' TV Shows is in the original last ever Only Fools episode (1996). In the live version, 'Our House' was sung by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, but on the Video release, it had been replaces with a cover by a woman. Obviously they decided it was too expensive. Other times, the music is left in, such as Simply Red's 'Holding back the years' at Rodney's wedding.Anyone know whether it's a flat fee they pay to use it on DVD or something like a percentage of each sale or does it just vary from deal to deal? Can I also just say, this thread is a great read.

  5. Why is it that everyone wa sso offended when The Sandman got crucified that time, but when Undertaker puts people on his symbol thing it looks exactly the same and nobody minds?

People did mind. But what made it a bigger deal in ECW was because Heyman made Raven go out afterwards and apologise out of character to the fans (because Heyman was courting Kurt Angle's services, and Angle was horrified).Vince, as usual, didn't give a shit.
Keep in mind aswell that Angle wasn't the only person pissed off - some of the wrestlings, including Shane Douglas were highly pissed. The crowd was livid too - after all, they were staging this angle infront of a crowd of largely Catholics of Italian origin.
  6. They were also in a main event 6-man tag against eachother on Raw. It was Austin with two mystery partners, being Dude Love and Undertaker against Bret, Owen and Bulldog, i think it was a Flag match and Pillman ran in at the end and won Hart Foundation the match. I'm sure there's one or two other occasions i'm unaware of also.

I don't suppose anyone knows whether or not thism atch was ever released on the old 'Best of Raw' tapes, as a matter of fact does anyone have the match listings from that series of tapes, can't seem to find one anywhere....
It was on Best of Raw 7.
  7. The tape was put out by PWI in the USA in 1985 to promote non-WWF wrestling. It was put out in the UK in the early 1990s by the same company that did the WCW videos. It is presented by Bill Apter and Gordon Solie and is only an hour and all the matches are highlights. By the way, it's the Road Warriors on the cover. Junkyard Dog vs. The Missing Link (Parade of Champions)Greg Valentine vs. Roddy Piper (Starrcade 83)Highlighs of Gorgeous George and Adrian StreetAbdullah the Butcher vs. Carlos Colon (Starrcade 83)Jerry Lawler vs. Bill Dundee (Memphis)Highlights of Lawler/KaufmanHarley Race vs. Dory Funk, Jr. (Race wins NWA title)Harley Race vs. Ric Flair (Starrcade 83)Dusty Rhodes vs. Tully Blanchard (JCP)The Freebirds vs. Von Erichs (Parade of Champions)Heaven Needed a Champion (Parade of Champions)Kerry Von Erich vs. Ric Flair (Parade of Champions)Ricky Steamboat vs. Tully Blanchard (JCP)Kerry Von Erich vs. Ric Flair (Japan rematch)Jimmy Valiant vs. The Assassin #2 (JCP)The Road Warriors vs. The Fabulous Ones (Memphis)Macho Man pildriving Ricky Morton through a tableJCP video with George Thorogood

  8. I know of The Giant winning the WCW title in his first match and Christian winning the light heavyweight title in his first WWF match but have any other wrestlers ever won a title in their first match with a major promotion?

An obvious one.....Hulk Hogan is his first match in WCW at Bash at the Beach '94.
  9. - Did WCW and the WWF ever hold a PPV on the same night?

Starrcade 87 and Survivor Series 87 were both held on the 26/11/1987 on PPV.The Survivor Series began in 87 to counteract JCP's Starrcade. Vince wouldn't let any cable system air Survivor Series that showed Starrcade. So most cable companies chose the WWF's PPV costing JCP a lot of money.
While not strictly a PPV, the first Clash of the Champions clashed with WrestleMania IV.
Interesting note: the PPV broadcasters begged Ted Turner to put on a PPV against WrestleMania V as they were sick of Vince's crap. It was all planned and everything, but they worked out something with Vince so the planned PPV was scrapped and turned into Clash of the Champions V.
  10. I've heard the Uncensored match was a triple cage, but looking at the picture it doesn't appear to be so. I've never seen the match

I have however seen the GAB match. Basically people enter at random from the top of the cage and work their way down to Precious, Jimmy Garvin's valet who was in a fued with Kevin Sullivan. It was called a "Tower of Doom" match, and it hard various trap doors. The pictures aren't very clear...

  11. how many times was the triple cage used in WCW, and when did they start using there equivilant of the hell in a cell (earliest ive seen is souled out 2000 kidman vs the wall).also what was it called

The triple cage (as seen in Readt to Rumble) was used twice, at Slamboree 2000 and War Games 2000. They'd used variations on teh triple cage before though, as seen at Great American Bash '88 and Uncensored '96.Souled Out 2000 was the first appearance of the "Caged Heat" match.
  12. as for uncensored (which i have watched recently) Flair was bleeding like fuck but as it was charles robinson he let it go on being a big naitch fan. only thing was is flair was the face at the time and WCW didnt acknowledge "little naitch" till the summer showing true WCW booking for the time period

Flair turned heel during the match, and then Little Naitch joined him the next night. I can understand why the fans in the arena were confused; in hindsight though, I think it was simple.
  13. What did they do at Uncensored 99 then in regards to the First Blood match?

Wrestlecrap at it's finest. They just carried on as though he wasn't bleeding. The commentators mentioned it and didn't have an explanation as to why the match was continuing. Then eventually this First Blood match ended .... by pinfall.
I didn't think it was stupid at all. Flair pointed out to ref Charles Robinson before the match that the match should be stopped, not if there was a little trickle, but a huge amount. And then Robinson turned heel by screwing Hogan by pinning him down....simple really...
