  1. Load of rubbish that was, how could they not pull the trigger on Sami there? Got pretty much zero interest in Mania now, KO left looking like a twat coming out to save his mate after the match instead of 5 minutes before when he was getting double teamed.

Should have been Sami vs Cody for the title at Mania and Jey vs Roman in a grudge match (after costing Roman the title here) to wrap up their story before the Bloodline is put to bed.

  2. First time I've decided to watch this in ages, with the hype around Cody and the news of Scott Hall. Everything just seems so lifeless, pointless and artificial, the worst part was KO starting off with a "hey yo" to absolute crickets from the crowd. How anyone can sit through a whole show without wanting to top themselves I'll never know.

Shonie's spinning backfist felt like only the spinning KO for years, can anyone think of an earlier one?

Don't think it was earlier than Shonie's but Genki Sudo had one in K1 around about the same time

  4. You both make a fair point about Cain being the correct answer, assuming he would be classed as a proper pro wrestler these days, although hasn't he only had about 3 wrestling matches in his life?

I stand by everything else though, and yes I have shot a double leg, trained for years in various martial arts and dabbled in pro wrestling very briefly. If you can dominate a guy in a MMA fight you'll probably dominate him in a street fight too unless we're talking about bringing weapons into it which is where it gets stupid. After their fight at UFC 251 I'd have to laugh at anyone saying Masvidal beats Usman in a streetfight, Usman would control him and fuck him up in a street fight or MMA.

  5. Brock is the only correct answer here. I hate all the mythical wrestling tough guy bullshit, unless you prove it legitimately it's worthless bollocks. I'm pretty positive Brock would absolutely destroy Haku/Meng or any other tough guy wrestler in a real fight. Just look at how badly all the tough guy Japanese wrestlers did when they legit tried to fight in MMA over the last 2 decades, Brock actually won the UFC heavyweight championship and defended it, I'll take him over anyone else in wrestling history ever.

The Fight Site's "Top 20 MMArtists Of All Time"

I would highly recommend the article that accompanies Jones' entry on the list. The author makes some very interesting points.

Wow, that might be one of the worst all time lists I've ever seen. Max Holloway as the 4th best MMA fighter of all time? Connor below 2 guys he's easily beat and Kabib about 10 places below Connor in the list. Even worse, Fedor at number 10 and Anderson at 12 when they would easily have destroyed every guy ranked above them in their day with the exception of Jones, obviously different weight classes involved, but still, it's hard to take some of these smaller guys seriously as the best ever when half the guys below them on the list would K.O. them with the first decent strike that lands.

That said, swap Aldo and Sakuraba's positions on the list and I'd be absolutely fine with it, regardless of how the rest are ranked, always nice to see Saku get recognition as one of the all time best rather than just a pioneering novelty. He really was in a different league and would probably have had a very long title reign and similar record to Aldo and GSP if he had had the opportunity to fight safely in one weight class his whole career. The mad fucker would never have settled for that though which instantly puts him and his ilk (BJ, Connor, Wanderlei, etc...) above guys like Aldo and GSP for me.
