  1.

So I started the US Office on Saturday afternoon and I've just finished Series 5. I absolutely love it.

I'll be honest in Series 2, I detested Dwight, to the point where I wasn't sure if I could carry on with the show, but somewhere in Series 3 he became one of the funniest characters I've ever seen and now he's a hero. There's too many great bits to point out and I'm awaiting the decline as some people have said, but I've loved binging it for 4 days or so.

So, I've finished it. 9 series in 9 days. Fucking hell. What a show. I absolutely loved it, more than I ever thought possible to be honest.

As well as being funny, it still had the same pathos and emotion that the original Office had, which was something I didn't think they could do somewhere around Series 3. The UK Office was so subtle in it's feelings and sympathy that I had for the characters, and the US Office is more about straight laughs but it had it.

I'll admit the only bits I didn't really like were the episodes with James Spader (just incredibly unfunny), and the introduction of Nellie, but I even warmed to her in the end. The only problem I had is because I binged it so hard and fast (that's what she said), it's hard to pick out moments or even episodes that stand out, which I'll have to do at a later date, but yeah, I loved it.

    Now onto...Community I reckon.

Me and my girlfriend watched US Office and nothing else for weeks as it was just that good. I agree it takes a noticeable dip but it is still enjoyable throughout to the end. Nellie annoyed the hell out of me, she just seemed to add nothing to the show for me.

  2. I don't know if it's been mentioned in here but i've been listening to the Bob Mortimer and Andy Dawson podcast Athletico Mince which is a football based podcast but with a really Mortimer style humour. It can go off on tangents about all sorts. Some of the recent conversations include which footballers would look best in denim and also some of the times Bob has met footballers. I don't think I am justifying it but it is funny stuff.

I understand everyone calling the fight for being on PPV but i've just had a look at the rest of the card and as a more than casual but less than expert fan that doesn't seem like such a bad card to make up for it being on PPV. We get the return fight of Paulie M, Chisora has been added now and then the comedy show of Eubank junior. What time does people think the main event will start? I'm thinking more likely 10:45/11 right?

Said 10 at the earliest I think on the website. Id imagine by the time they walk out, introduce themselves it'll be half 10. Mind with Joshua fighting a bum you'll wanna watch everything from the walk outs as blink and you may miss the fight too.

Okay cheers mate, I guess it depends how the other fights go as well.

I'm also about 2/3rds of the way through Scar Tissue the autobiography of Anthony Kiedis, the front man of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

This is probably my favourite biography, if not book of all time. I give it a read at least once every couple years, its unreal what that guy got up to.

I've just blasted through a few books whilst its been nice these past few weeks. I tend to only read when its sunny out so I can just sit in the garden. I've recently read..

Harry Redknapp's book (not a bad little read, he seems a bit bitter about certain bits though), Lee Evan's book (a really good insight into his life growing up, he seems to be a really self-conscious, shy guy. The book is really detailed but just stops when he's 21 and then thats it which I thought was odd.), Bob Dylan's 1st Chronicles (It just goes all over the place, its like he's just written it in streams of consciousness. He starts telling a story before going off on tangents about songs, folk history and other bits.), Heavier Than Heaven (A Kurt Cobain biog which is quite good, it seems the guy who wrote it got quite a lot of interviews with people close to him so seems to cut through a lot of the myths you hear about him. Another star whose childhood seemed to really shape his life, it seems he never quite got over his parents divorcing.) and then Playing The Moldovians At Tennis (I'm a massive fan of the Dave Gorman/Danny Wallace style books so this Tony Hawk book was a must after reading his book about going round Ireland with a fridge last year. What starts out as a bet with his mate to play the starting 11 of the Moldovian Football team at tennis turns into a really interesting look at a country I didn't actually know too much about. Fascinating read and the humour through it is good too.)

  6. I've started listening to the Harmontown podcasts, I don't know if they've been mentioned before in here? Apologies if so. Basically its an improv show done by Community writer Dan Harmon and Whose Line Is It Anyway?'s Jeff Davis with special appearances from comedians in some eps. It starts just after he was sacked from Community and basically just riffs on different topics and also has now started randomly playing D and D each week. Top stuff so far, i've looked and there is eps including Robin Williams and Graham Linehan coming up for me to listen to which will be cool.

  7. I've be rewatching The Office (US, not a fan of the UK one) and the episode Fire Drill has to be one of the funniest episodes of television I ever watched. From the opening fire drill, to Michael and Dwights meetings with corporate, Dwight cutting the face of the CPR doll. Just great stuff.

After all the hype I finally started watching American Office after the last series was added to Netflix (even though I had previously bought and not watched the first 5 series on a hunch i'd like it) i'm currently left with about 40 episodes left and it has got to be one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. I think part of that is down to the strength in depth with characters as even the bit part characters have some classic lines or moments. After certain major plot points I am worried these last two seasons might not be as good but even if not the episodes I have watched are fantastic. I also think Creed Bratton is seriously underrated.

  8. I saw Stewart in Chesterfield the other night for the first time and he did not disappoint. I took a friend who hadn't seen his style before and only knew he was a comedian but he loved it too which was a relief. Can't wait for the next series of SLCV now!

  9.

Because I only play to relatively small stakes there's no point in backing short price favs. Therefore today I've dabbled on:

I had a few hours on my hands and a couple quid in my account left so I stuck 10p each way on the 10 horses you suggested.. i'm on £2.60 profit so far. Cheers haha.

My Iphone 4s seems to have just disabled my wifi. It has the option greyed out on my settings and just won't change no matter what I try. I've looked online and tried all the usual techniques to mend the issue such as system resets, downloading the latest updates etc but to no avail. There seems to be a number of people online saying a solution could be by freezing your phone in the freezer for 10 minutes to cool down the system but this seems dubious to me. Anyone been in a similar situation? Also apologies if this is better in the question thread, just thought it was a strange smartphone issue.

Happened to me that did and I could never get it to work again. Have you spilt any liquids on it as I had a few days prior to my wi-fi breaking so always assumed it was that.

I don't remember doing so but it was strange how I just woke up one morning and the wi-fi just wouldn't work at all. It's not doing my data any good not having wi-fi haha. Looks like I might have to just invest in a new phone soon then if you say it never seemed to work again.

  11.

I just got a notification on Facebook saying '*person* has invited you to like their new page Muslim Jokes'. I'm alright cheers pal.

what if they are jokes taken from stand up routines fr some of the finest Muslim comics out there?

I did consider that but then I noticed that the person's last two posts were shared from the Britain First group so I'm assuming not. They were soon unfriended.

  13. It's not quite the same but someone keeps re-uploading both AYDG? and Astrological Experiment on YouTube. They do get taken down a lot which is annoying. I believe at some point you could have got them on his website but you can't now. Not sure if I dreamt that last bit mind.

  14. Thanks for that link, I've just been on it checking out some of my fave fights... One thing that i've always wondered after rewatching Froch vs Pascal is how it was never classed as one of the fights of the year? Both men were throwing bombs for the whole fight! I've not been a big boxing fan long so I might have missed the hype but it's one of my favourite fights..

On that note, is there any fights that you lot have watched and never understood why it hasn't been classed as a great?

EDIT: And if anyone hasn't watched it before http://sosoboxing.com/?s=pascal+froch it's on there :)

  15. I have downloaded every possible episode I could find of the Ricky Gervais XFM shows with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington and I have ended up a number of times bursting out with laughter, not as far back as you guys but good stuff.
