  1. Having gotten into wrestling in late 1999, Undertaker had always been the American Bad Ass character since I'd been a fan but I always wished he'd go back to being the Deadman again having seen it in archives. I don't think my heart has ever pounded like it did in the lead up and entrance for this match at WMXX.

  2. I do wonder if they'll be able to resist the temptation to pipe in doctored crowd noise over the actual fans at Mania (and subsequent events with an audience). Now that they've had a taste of being able to control the 'response' of the crowd, and seeing how they overproduce every single aspect of their presentation, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Hadn't they already done a "Hurt Business are banned from ringside" angle for Wrestlemania? That simple stipulation allows for whatever they're hoping to achieve from breaking them up, by forcing Lashley to go it alone at Wrestlemania. Breaking them up after Wrestlemania because Lashley couldn't get the job done and he takes out on them would make some kind of sense. Breaking them up before Wrestlemania, when Lashley's trying to get people to take McIntyre out of the equation before the match, doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.

There are, in essence, two ways to book wrestling - you either plot everything out months in advance and stick rigidly to the plan, which allows you to sow seeds for stories early, keep a coherent narrative going, and make sure everything makes sense, but risk not being able to change things organically based on the reaction of the audience, or you fly by the seat of your pants and let the audience reactions and the events of each show effectively inform whatever comes up next, potentially at the expense of better long-term storytelling. I'm not sure how they've managed it, but WWE have managed to somehow take on only the worst aspects of both approaches - it feels like The Plan is completely set in stone for months regardless of how fans react (with the exception of Edge/Bryan/Reigns, apparently), yet absolutely everything on the show has the sense of being made up as they go along and just cobbled together hours before the show.

Not only have they managed to take the worst aspect of both approaches, but they’ve done it without a single fan in attendance for a full calendar year.

  4. Whilst Becky/Ronda in a 1v1 match SHOULD absolutely main event, by the time we get 6+ hours into the show, the crowd will be totally burnt out and the match will suffer so much for it. Perhaps the better idea is to have it in the middle of the show, to maximum heat and fanfare?

  5. Becky was so good and just gets it. This wont last forever, perhaps not even til the end of the week but for the meantime she is absolutely the best thing in wrestling. She was so good I can even overlook the fact that Charlotte was inexplicably there despite A. having a blood feud with the leader of the SD pack less than 3 weeks ago, and B. having palmed off Paige about the SD SS team for the past 2 weeks. 😣
