  1. Rampage 15/03/24 OC/Trent vs Dark Order Textbook Rampage opener. Bit of comedy, fun scrambly bits towards the end, John Silver keeping OC out of Pockets-stance by putting his own hands in the pockets was an inspired move. Loved The Righteous Vignette. The tag team tournament only has six teams in it Tony, no room for a bit of the ol' Dutch? Shame. @Chili has covered all he Cool Hand/Ruby/Saraya Knight/Zak Knight business. It's brilliant, I love it. Like Dalton Castle on ROH, it's the throughline and ongoing story I look forward to on a show that can often just be as series of matches. The "someone I appreciated/someone I love" line was so good. It's silly soap opera fun but I also reeeallly wanna see Ruby and Cool Hand prevail. Storm/May/Purazzo stuff was all good fun. Mariah May is having a blast playing this role and it shows. The spinning side slam with way too many rotations was great, she should keep that. Nice to see Thunder Rosa involved in something other than Collision jobber matches. Takeshita/Komander was, unsurprisingly, rather good. Komander has good matches with most people and Takeshita is some kind of superhuman anomaly, so a pretty safe bet. Takeshita is such a spectacular performer to watch. Anything he does looks as good as or better than any other version you've seen of it, highlighted in this match by the spinning falcon arrow at the end. He should be one of those guys where any number of moves could end the match for him, because it all looks utterly devastating. Main event was fine. My eyes do glaze over a bit when I see Top Flight and Andretti these days, same with The Kingdom. Six guys in a match and Roderick Strong has the most personality out of them. Oof. But yeah, perfectly watchable six man. Another very easy hour of wrestling TV.
  2. All AEW and ROH shows in full at the moment. Smackdown sometimes full episodes but usually just the highlights. Only follow Raw via podcast recap and watching highlights if anything sounds good, then all the PLEs in full. Then assorted bits and bobs from anywhere else if I ever have time. I had a Stardom World sub but there are not enough hours in the week so I dropped that and now it’s just recommended matches. With New Japan it’ll be individual matches too if they sound too juicy to miss, like Danielson vs Zack Sabre Jr. Would love to try and watch more Impact, currently trying to squeeze in the PPVs but not succeeding at the moment, there is simply too much content to get through.
  3. Yeah sadly have to agree with this. I love the gimmick and the aesthetic so much. Their little vignette on Rampage this week was cool as fuck, but yeah, they don’t do much with it. They should be trying to recruit people, or at least playing mind games trying to corrupt or mess with the babyfaces. Just to pitch this for the hundredth time, I want them to steal Lance Archer from Jake Roberts and recruit him permanently. Then they can sick him on people who refuse to join or they believe to be on the wrong path. A bit like Mordecai except Archer is imposing and violent enough to pull it off. Agreed on Watts too, I’m a fan. Also as I mentioned on his previous appearance he has lovely worked punches, which is increasingly rare in wrestling these days. Everyone’s chopping and fore arming but a good, snappy punch is hard to find.
  4. Asuka blowing the mind of the owner of this pro wrestling bar is very heart-warming stuff.
  5. Seriously, she was born to play this role. This feud has brought out the absolute best in both Johnny TV and Taya.
  6. ROH 07/03/24 49 minute run time! Now we're talking. Used to love it when original NXT was an hour long. Skipped: Lee Johnson vs John Cruz, Nyla Rose vs Jobber. Women's TV title tournament Quarter final: Red Velvet vs Leyla Hirsch This was great! They both wrestled very aggressively from the start, big slaps and strikes felt like a really competitive battle between two extremely well matched opponents. I can't recall either of these two having many better matches than this. Reeled the crowd in as it went and had them biting on some big near falls at the end, particularly from Hirsch's running knee followed up by a picture perfect moonsault. Hirsch does lose some points for mockingly doing the Stir it up pose, which I am certain is an act of blasphemy. Riccaboni completely lost his way trying to close out the segment with some Red Velvet lore riffage: "The kitchen is heating up! Especially when Red Velvet.... stands.... with the recipe". Could hear him chuckling to himself under his breath because he knew he'd shat the bed. Bloody marvellous. Infantry Promo. I didn't skip it because they were pretty good on Collision. They're making fun of The Outrunners and plugging their new shirt. Trish Adora weirdly doesn't say anything except "To Bootcamp". Will our Trish ever get a promo? Ahh we shall see. Abadon vs jobber Abadon dispatched the jobber, Mercedes Martinez came out and was not impressed. Was hoping we'd get Mercedes vs Abadon this week. Boo. Spanish Announce Project confront Maria. They want to fight Garrison and Carter again in the feud that never ends. The Infantry vs The Workhorsemen vs Spanish Announce Project vs Jack Cartwheel and Gringo Loco Very fun match. Nice breezy ten minutes, two thirds of which were a mad sprint with loads of cool little interactions and whacky high spots. Jack Cartwheel was my highlight, backflipping out of a Canadian Destroyer attempt and doing what I think was a standing sky twister press. After the match Maria comes out to taunt the SAP with a stolen Serpentico mask. I think this feud is designed to make fun of me for still watching ROH. 50 minute episode, strong women's TV title match, fun main event. ROH 14/03/23 Two hours again this week. Boo. Skipped: Lee Johnson vs Aaron Solo. I appreciate they're getting behind Johnson and using ROH as developmental to build him up, but I still find him terribly dull. Top Flight vs Iron Savages. Lance Archer vs Jobber, AR Fox vs Komander vs Jack Cartwheel vs Slim J. I have no doubt it was a mad spotfest but I have too much wrasslin' to watch. OC and Trent Baretta vs Koal Qatar and Griff Garrison. I did see Orange Cassidy doing the Angelico dance after the match though. Women's TV title quarter final: Billie Starkz vs Diamante Another fairly substantial match in the tournament. They seemed to be a bit out of sync at times, not sure if it's the big height difference or Billie's inexperience but there were a couple of scary looking suplex botches in this one. Other than that it was a good, hard hitting scrap, with Billie drawing great sympathy from the crowd as she does. Had the people by the end for a strong closing stretch. Lady Frost vs Kiera Hogan vs Leyla Hirsch vs Robyn Renegade Lady Frost now has long hair down to her shoulders and looks like Sindel from Mortal Kombat. I'm a fan of it. This was a mad sprint. Bodies flying everywhere. I enjoyed it but the crowd was near silent unfortunately. Athena vs Jobber Ahh Athena is home and jobbers are once again in danger. Magnificent beatdown here against a much larger opponent. Threw her about, hung her upside down on the ropes and stomped her head into the apron. Post-match did a running double knee smash against the ring steps, then did it again. Tremendous post-match promo, slamming Atlanta, slamming the shit competition she's been offered, all building up to the classic "I've beaten everyone, is there any competition left?" invitation. Promptly answered by Hikaru Shida!! Match is official for Supercard of Honor, that will be a belter, and according to Cagematch has only ever happened once before in SHIMMER in 2014(!) Good segment setting up a very appealing match, and one I didn't see coming at all. Loved it. Hopefully a teaser for when Athena eventually comes back to the AEW main roster. When she does, almost every match feels like a mini dream match for me, even people she faced on the first run. Extremely vanilla promo from Lee Johnson. Again though, I appreciate that they're doing the thing with him. Six wins in a row, getting promo time. Would like to see more of this sort of thing in ROH, even if Johnson himself isn't winning me over just yet. Nick Comoroto/Jacoby Watts vs The Workhorsemen Nick Comoroto! I had forgotten this man existed. Very AEW Dark this match. This was very odd. Wrestled as a handicap match because Jacoby Watts got taken out early, tried to join in later but got taken out again. So Comoroto had to fight it out on his own. I did enjoy Drake and Comoroto smashing and throwing each other about. Felt very 1980s. Think Comoroto is meant to be taken in by whatever good word Jacoby Watts is spreading, though is questioning his decision to follow this guy after he was left on his own to get his ass kicked for this match. He reluctantly does leave with Watts, looks like this is going to be a thing. I miss the lolipop though. Then this happened: Best work of Taya Valkyrie's career. Women's TV Title tournament quarter final: Abadon vs Mercedes Martinez Slightly different look for Abadon with ripped up tights on her head now. Abadon always looks fantastic. Thought Mercedes did a great job here carrying the match. As I've said before, there's definitely something there with Abadon as a plucky underdog babyface too. Not as good as Hirsch/Velvet or Starkz/Diamante, but for an Abadon match of this length it was solid. I was rooting for Abadon even though I didn't think there was much doubt about the result. Still protected Abadon with the loss being due to interference though. Kingston promo: Kingston vs Briscoe at Supercard of Honor. Very nice. I noticed they said Eddie is defending the Continental Championship on its own against Okada on Wednesday, not all three titles, so it has no bearing on this match going ahead. And this match is for the ROH World Title Only. Playing up the idea of Eddie being pulled in a lot of different directions trying to defend all of these belts. Not having a bad time skim-watching ROH at the moment. Little nuggets of Dalton and Athena, I've mostly enjoyed the Women's TV Title tournament, and then I can dip in and out of the filler matches if anything takes my fancy. Happy with both Shida vs Athena and Mark Briscoe vs Eddie Kingston for Supercard of Honor too.
  7. I love root beer precisely because it tastes like the mouth rinse stuff you get at the dentist. Not your basic shop bought mouthwash mind, but the delicious, dentist-exclusive kind.

Agreed. I love cinnamony type things so thought it’d be up my street, but it has an aftertaste of rancid milk because of the butter sauce. Truly disgusting.
  9. Quite the list of names he’s taking credit for there.

    CM Punk chat

Hey Punk don’t take the last muffin. Oh wait now I see there are two left. Phew, almost got into it with Punk there. Better tell the internet about how I’m not gonna tell the internet about this.
  11. Non-native English speakers doing skits like this so often sound like they’re reciting lines, the intonation is wrong and their personality doesn’t come through. The delivery here was perfect. Stupidly read the replies underneath and it just reminded me yet again why I only chat wrestling on here.
  12. Dynamite 13/03/24 Ahh AEW in front of a sizeable and noisy crowd again, delightful. Thought the Mercedes debut did the job just fine. Bit of a rambling promo but it didn't matter in the slightest what she said really. The place was rabid for her and she felt like a huge deal. Effortlessly superb promo from Joe. Appreciated them doing a thing with the Adam Cole Promo but can't get past how incredibly dumb the whole direction is. Wardlow and Joe was about as expected, a solid TV match. I don't think Wardlow can do much better than this, particularly against an opponent of Joe's size. I was absolutely thrilled that the victory for Joe was so clean and definitive. Swerve's expression of pure murderous intent walking down the ramp was tremendous. Joe kicking the guy off the ramp was even better. I want Swerve vs Hangman for the big belt but I also kinda want King Joe to be champion forever. I bloody love Elite Okada. I liked the direction in the first place, his arrogant jobber bullying on Collision only cemented it further, but forcing Alex Marvez to sing sealed the deal. Six man tag was fun. Wonderful to have Pac back, and to see Penta back on Dynamite in a significant match. Having Okada tag out and refuse to fight Kingston was definitely the way to go. They're still fighting the natural babyface reaction, and if Okada continues to be this much of a prick I think they'll get there. Osprey promo was brilliant. Best I've ever heard him sound. Content, delivery, screen presence, it was all gold. The "OSPREY! OSPREY!" thing during his entrance in front of a crowd this hot made him seem like a megastar. Short and snappy promo from Purazzo, thought she sounded very good too. "I suggest you watch for the shoe cos it's heading straight up your ass". Good stuff. Darby and Jay White was a solid match. Have missed Jay White since the Continental Classic, wasn't surprised when Excalibur said it's his first singles match of 2024, felt like it had been ages. Unfortunately the crowd was dead for it. A shame as I thought Darby's promo last week was actually one of his better ones. So, so glad Bang Bang Scissor Gang is done. It didn't help The Acclaimed and it diminished Bullet Club Gold, who were already excellent without the team up. Get the trios titles unified and forget about this whole affair. Be fine with The Acclaimed just entering the tag tournament as a duo again. Fuuuck oooffff Jerichooooo. I'll stop whining about it after this episode, but maaaan Hook defending the FTW title against Toa the beast in a nutty hardcore match here would have been sooooo much better. The people wanted to cheer for Hook but Jericho is bloody toxic. Kyle O'Reilly vs Bryan Keith sure will be a singles match up on the wrestling TV show Collision between two pro wrestlers Riccabone, I promise you that much. Quality main event. Excellent run of performances from Riho lately and Willow rarely disappoints. Got the crowd fully on board by the end and the finishing sequence was very cool. Post match was effective. The booking and handling of Julia Hart has been consistently excellent for a long time now, a real AEW original success story. AEW feels fresh and exciting at the moment. Up for the tag tournament, lots of interesting new characters and potential new directions on top of the existing stuff like Copeland/Cage, the rise of Swerve, Toni Storm etc. On a roll definitely. Happy with most of what's going on right now, but please do not forget about Danny Garcia. All these shiny new toys makes me fear for the boy and it would be a tragedy if he got lost in the shuffle.
  13. I heard she's on 6 billion pounds per minute and she travels between towns on a steam train run by shovelling piles of cash into a furnace. I don't know if it's true but IF IT IS, that TK, what a mug. What are we doing here.
  14. Collision 09/03/24 Excellent opener. Shane Taylor even more intense than usual here. All fired up, talking loads of shit during the match, always a huge fan of that. Danielson seamlessly switching from Eddie's villainous nemesis to the most sympathetic babyface in this David vs Goliath match. Really good stuff from both, Taylor methodical in control but everything he did looked great and felt significant, Danielson hanging in there and building a ton of sympathy on the way to his comeback. Loved Schiavone accusing Nigel of backing down when Bryan teased confronting him, and Nigel going "naaah I've got nothing to do with him". Tremendous. Simple and effective promos from Danielson and Osprey, the match is going to be outrageous. Very much enjoyed Okada bullying the jobbers. Dripping with arrogance. Okada was always going to get a babyface reaction on only his second full time appearance here but I still like the direction a lot. Pac return was awesome, the six man will be awesome, sign me up for the Pac vs Okada singles match whenever they want to go to it. One of those classic "oh shit yeah AEW has *this* match in the pocket now" moments for me. Mariah May and Trish Adora was solid. I love Trish Adora's kneeling german suplex. Post-match was loads of fun, Toni Storm segments haven't missed for quite a while for me now. I was still ready to believe that Mariah wasn't winning the Toni award despite being the only nominee. Patriarchy/Copeland stuff was great. So cool that Copeland sat there with different signs throughout the first hour. Titan vs Jericho was pretty good. Titan a lot more fun to watch than Atlantis Jr, Rugido and Magnus. None of them even in the same universe as Hechicero though. Miss that guy. Speaking of luchadores, I hope they've sorted out a new gimmick for Black Taurus and he'll be here to save Rampage from Top Flight and Private Party soon. Post-match an unwelcome reminder that we're getting the tag match instead of Hook vs Toa. Thanks Jericho. Patriarchy/Copeland stuff was great. So cool that Copeland sat there with different signs throughout the first hour. Solid promo from FTR. I appreciate it when a babyface acknowledges a major loss and takes it on the chin. Little bit of vulnerability goes a long way I think. Couldn't quite believe how good The Infantry sounded. They have been an automatic skip button act for me on ROH pretty much the entire time I've been watching it. Maybe it was the home town power up, maybe they've been improving this whole time while I've been skipping. Either way this was the first time I've ever found them remotely entertaining. I also googled what Magic City in Atlanta is and their Instagram page was very enlightening and I was only reading it for the articles. Mistico/Angelico was OK. Was hoping for slightly more whacky holds and counters. Probably didn't need AEW guy vs CMLL guy in exhibition singles matches twice on the same show. Main event was a blast. Wasn't even 15 minutes long but it was absolutely packed with thoroughly entertaining nonsense and madness. Sonjay being knocked on his arse by Brody was great, Jarrett taking out Brody was great, Briscoe is always great, HOB are at their best in multi man chaotic sprints. Fun show and, like Dynamite, set up or progressed plenty of interesting new directions. Mistico vs Angelico was the only slight lull in the show for me, other than that the pacing and variety were there. The Osprey/Danielson follow up and the Pac return also stopped it feeling like a filler episode, which it very well could have done sandwiched between two very significant Dynamite episodes.
