Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted June 2, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) I was making some gifs from the ranker than rank Emmanuelle in Soho, and couldn't believe how terrible it was — went looking for reviews, and ended up finding this cracker from our own Baztnm.    More a straight up porno than anything else. Not even 20 seconds in and it goes straight into the sex, not even time for any sort of storyline. Just straight in there with the lesbian stuff. Absolutely horrendous acting. People corpsing in the background on camera all the time. People forgetting their lines and looking panic stricken. Looks unbelievably amateurish. Whole experience is bloody depressing. It gets even more depressing when you read about the death of Julie Lee soon after this. No wonder the "English Sex Comedy" basically died after this film in 1981. Major downer all the way. I don't believe the "Documentary on Soho" was included on my Odean DVD release. Version I watched only lasted 65 minutes.  I'd always held off watching it, because of how dreadful I'd heard it was. Wish I had stayed away. As early 80s British sex films go, it's much worse than Death Shock, which is almost unbelievable. Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted June 2, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Yeah, it's an awful film. Really sad. Probably the lowest point of British cinema. David Sullivan lost the plot after Mary Millington passed away. Â ADDED: Think the film may be on Youtube. Don't want to link to it in case somebody clicks on it at work as the sex starts very quickly. Edited June 2, 2015 by bAzTNM#
WyattSheepMask
- Variety reports that The Rock is in talks to star in a reboot of the 1980's classic "Big Trouble In Little China." Rock would presumably be playing the lead role of truck driver Jack Burton, originally played by Kurt Russell. Â Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are writing the script while Rock and his producing partners Dany Garcia & Hiram Garcia are producing the movie through their 7 Bucks Entertainment company. Â I've said it before, but Simon Sheridan's book on Mary Millington is incredible. The stuff about the arse end of dirty British cinema is especially interesting. Paid Members SpursRiot2012 Posted June 2, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 2, 2015 Rock in a BTILC remake seems like weird casting to me and I love Rocky. That and Point Break are the very definition of films that just do not need a remake. Â The day they remake Back to the Future with Zac Efron playing Marty is the day I do a madness. Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted June 2, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Bob Gale, the guy who wrote and produced Back to the future said there will never be a remake or sequel so hopefully that makes you feel better. Â One of the things for me about reboots is that more often than not the time it was made is a big part of the fun. Big Trouble in Little China is so cool and 80s, if you take the same basic story and just stick the Rock in it in 2015 with the pacing and look of a film from now it's not going to be half as fun. Dr.PeterVenkman
In fairness, I was probably almost as offended as Abel Ferrara when they said there was a remake of Bad Lieutenant on the way yet I enjoyed it  For any film I genuinely love like Ghostbusters or God forbid Jaws being remade, I'd just sit comfortably knowing the remake won't compare so loads of people will love the original more
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted June 5, 2015 Awards Moderator Share Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Trailer for Spielberg's new one, Bridge of Spies:Â https://youtu.be/2-2x3r1m2I4 Â I'll be honest, they had my money as soon as they announced it had Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance in the cast, but happily it also looks really good. Co-written by the Coens as well. Edited June 5, 2015 by HarmonicGenerator
Guest
Mad max looks really nice, but I found myself quite bored by it  San Andreas was an ace summer blockbuster. Really enjoyed it even with the cheesy bits throughout.

Paid Members chokeout Posted June 11, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 11, 2015 I'm gutted, the guy was a legit legend and depending on how much you believe about what he got up to during the war, is a genuine hero as well
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted June 11, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 11, 2015 I can't think of anyone who was in more films, what incredible legacy and such a mark made on cinema that goes back as far as anyone can remember. What a life, with decades of making hundreds of varied films he must've experienced more of the film business than anyone.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted June 11, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 11, 2015 Not only was Christopher Lee probably in more genuine movies (not shorts, not marginal porno films) than anyone, but he enlivened every single one of them that I was lucky enough to see. I'm going to be watching a lot of his movies over the next few days.
RIDDUM_N_STYLE
One of the true icons of Horror Cinema, a sad sad day for anyone who was a fan of his work as Dracula in the Hammer films or any of his other iconic roles like Count Dooku in Star Wars or his role in Lord of the Rings
