when a netbook says "refurbished", what does that mean in real terms with regard to its performance and lifespan?

Simple answer is "depends". A real thorough refurbish would take all the individual components out, clean the connectors and replace them, but the seller could just mean he's re-installed the OS.

Many thanks for your help. Its from Curry's or Comet, so could be either I guess.

I'm still having a good look but at least now I have some grasp of what that is getting at for a like for like comparison.

When I worked for Sony, a 'refurbished' Playstation was one that had been sent back for repair, and had any faulty parts replaced with new parts.

 I got through about 7 PS2's, I'd send off the broken one and get a new one through the insurance and some one some where would get mine fixed up. Somewhere out there theres one with my address on in those UV security pens.

I'm still having a look at the netbooks really, but I'm after one for my parents for Christmas so it doesn't need to be an all powerfull as its to help them learn how to get on the net and use office. However I wouldn't want to make life difficult by getting something which is likly to need work to keep running well not to far down the road.

What was the song used for Sky Sports Sunday Football in 92/93, 93/94 period? It sounds like U2 but I'm fairly sure it isn't.

Sadly not, although that one brings back memories too! It might not have been the theme music, it might have been some promo music they used on Prem Years.

Does anyone know where the "I love you, love me!" sample from Hardcore Motherfucker by Ultraviolence is from?

It might not be from anything but I thought I'd ask just on the offchance. Heard it for the first time in years the other night and that bit's been stuck in my head ever since.

Seeing as a few people in the Christmas gif thread seem to know what they are doing I was hoping somebody would be able to resize this gif for me.

29z7wbm.jpg

I wanted to use it for my avatar on another site and the maximum size on the site is '' The maximum size of your custom image is 125 by 125 pixels or 195.3 KB (whichever is smaller). ''

I tried to do it my self on 1 of the free gif resizing sites but cant get it right.

Cheers

Is it possible to use XBox live if you use mobile broadband?

Yeah but it completely rinses your data allowance. I asked the guy in the Three store about it when I got mobile broadband whenI moved and he said "Whoa, don't even go there". He told me a story about a guy who was on contract (I'm on PAYG) and played COD4 for a few hours. If he went over his contract allowance he had to pay a set price for each MB over and was hit with a bill for close to a grand for the month.

Yeah but I PAYG on T-Mobile and they give you a shitty 3GB monthly limit - but, if you go over that limit they don't charge you extra only you won't be able to do things like stream video between 4pm - midnight. After midnight it runs as usual, at no extra cost.
