I just brought Rock Band for Ps3 and want to use my GH:World Tour guitar to play it, Wiki says they are cross compatiable but when I plug it in it comes up as being a microphone.

What do I do?

Sing into it? :p

Seriously, have you tried to disconnt it and reconnect it ?

I noticed in the DVDs thread that there is a poster called Ashley who has around 1000/2000 posts but her account is disabled. Who was she and what did she do to get banned?

I found out that by going online with it and getting the game update thing it works now. Thanks for the help though :)

Wondering what course of action to take with my PC.. I only used it for about two months before the hard drive died. It has been opened up (to put a network card in, nothing else) so Comet won't hear anything about it.

The PC itself doesn't appear to have gone wrong anyway, all the other components work, it's just that the hard drive starts to spin up and then totally fails. The PC then determines that there is no hard drive and attempts to boot up from a CD or disk. My friend bought exactly the same PC as me at the same time, and the hard drive does the same thing when plugged into his, so it's not the PC motherboard or the SATA cables etc.

Will the drive itself be covered by its own manufacturer? I bought the thing near the beginning of the year. Most of the music and media etc. is backed up on my external USB drive, so my main concern is that if I have to have it replaced, what happens to my Windows Vista? Do I have to buy it, because that seems ludicrous. I prefer XP anyway, but the point is if their solution is to simply provide me with a new HD, I'll have no operating system.

I'm told that static build up can drop the drive heads spinning on a hard drive and that swinging it in a frisbee motion (without actually throwing it!) can help. A little cynical about that, plus it sounds like everything's moving freely in there anyway.

I'm also told that the other main cause of HD failure to spin up would be a dodgy logic board. Oh, and I've further had a suggestion to ziplock bag it and stick it in the freezer for a bit.

Lastly, data recovery specialists, but I think it'd be madness to pay the sort of prices they charge to save a little bit of media and recover my OS.

So what to do?

Thanks JB, you're a good sort. I didn't think anyone would reply. :(

It's HP. The hard drive is Seagate. The Hard drive's death is most definitely the problem, so would you recommend I contact the PC manufacturer or the HD manufacturer?

Or just pester Comet?

How can I hook up my very normal PC to my telly so I can watch stuff on it? I don't have any sort of TV out on my graphics card, do I need to buy a new one? They are close enough to run a cable.

try an external capture card, then run a scart-to-scart cable between Capture Card & telly.

A capture card's usually going the other way - getting a video signal into the PC.

You can get VGA to TV boxes (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=223833) or a newer graphics card. Some graphics card can output a TV compatible signal through their VGA port and you get a VGA to composite video lead.

Is it a new TV? A lot of LCDs and Plasmas can take a signal straight from the PC.

my friends goes both ways, it's got an S-VIDEO socket, A standard RF socket, SCART socket, and RWY composite sockets, all 3 can input or output.

EDIT: before anyone else posts it.

This is a very stupid question but I am going to ask it anyway. I am thinking of hiring a car when I am in spain later in the year, but on left hand drive cars is the clutch brake and accelerator in the same order as right hand drive cars?

The pedals are the same, however the gears will feel different. For example for 1st gear you will need to pull the stick towards you and up, rather than push away and up.
