Anyone watched Golovkin vs Derevyanchenko yet? Wasn’t Spence vs Porter great but it was a quality fight. Derevyanchenko really pushed GGG and made him look his 37 years at times. GGG is class though. It was a close fight and like with any close fight you’ll always get the outcries of robbery afterwards. I had Golovkin winning but it wasn’t like I was sat there with a pen and notepad scoring closely and I wouldn’t have been outraged had they scored it to Derevyanchenko. Don’t think it was a robbery though. There were a handful of rounds that could’ve gone either way.

The GGG fight was another high quality 12 rounds of action lastnight. GGG wasnt himself, ive saw interview headlines saying he was ill going into the fight, but you never know. He is now 37, i imagine Canelo will be licking his chops to complete the trilogy after watching last night. I just hope BJS doesnt get a fight with him.  Not sure where GGG goes now? Andrade? High risk low reward.  The other middleweight champs bring nothing to the table for him.

Aye, Hearn and Banks have said that GGG was ill.

I gave GGG the final 2 rounds, and with the knockdown in the first round, I probably had him edging it overall. A rematch would be fine.

I’d be cool with a rematch but I hope GGG gets that third crack at Canelo next and the payday that goes with it before he retires.

He’s definitely lost a step but I think the overall narrative of him declining is being a bit overplayed. I usually find Matthew Macklin pretty spot on in his commentary but I thought he was a bit too doom and gloom with the ‘Golovkin looked old tonight’ stuff at the end. Anyone would think he looked terrible. He didn’t. An old washed up man wouldn’t have been going 12 rounds at a pace like that with a machine like Derevyanchenko. And whether you had him winning or losing he had a fair share of the rounds. Golovkin is still class at 37 years old. He’s just a shade less than what he used to be. People seem to have been wanting to declare Golovkin old and declining for ages. It was similar after the Jacobs fight. Instead of saying ‘fair play to Jacobs, he gave GGG a great close fight’ it was ‘GGG looks old, he’s slipping’ etc. He took Canelo to the wire twice after that. Everyone has to be so dramatic after fights. Especially in Boxing. You could dominate all your career and go 50-0 but you go to one split decision and everyone gets Jim Watt syndrome and says you’re ready for the care home.

It wasn’t the best he’s ever looked but Golovkin didn’t look bad to me last night. I think Derevyanchenko deserves more of the credit for the fight being so close. Hopefully Canelo does see it as Golovkin slowing down though because I could quite easily watch those two fight a Best Of 7 and not get bored of it.

quite gutted about that.

Usyk's heavyweight career is off to a weird start.

Chisora v Price.

Price cashing out i think, reckon this will be his last match. He said his kids and that were getting shit at school for losing matches. Be an interesting match for 3 rounds until Price slow down then i think its a matter of time till Delboy KO’s him.

think thats about as good a fight we could realistically get given the time frame. Price will likely be in decent shape because he would have ended up on the Liverpool card. If Price can get a stiff jab working i could see him even winning it in an utter stinker.

Not sure I'd agree with that to be honest. Chisora is way past his best, and I actually believe that a win here for Price, coupled with his win over Allen, and he could be looking at a decent money fight next up.

I hope Price does win. It’s obviously nearly the end for his career, he’s talked about it himself. I’d love to see him get that one big payday before he calls it a day. He’d get shown up but I wouldn’t even mind seeing him and Fury matched up sometime next year. I don’t know how likely that would be and a lot would depend on how that Wilder rematch goes but I wouldn’t be against Fury vs Price. It’d be pretty cool to see that happen after all their history and the paths they’ve both been on since. Of course, Fury wins that all day though. Price would need them 10 plumbers.

I may be proven to be way off, but I'm kinda hoping that the confidence Price will have gotten from that win over Allen, and how well he boxed that night, will see him experience somewhat of a mini-resurgence. One of his biggest problems was that he got cracked a few times, and after that he'd freeze up whenever he got hit clean. He seemed to overcome that against Allen. It would have been terrible for the big man to finish his career as it was before the Allen fight, all that potential amounting to fuck all.

If he can beat Chisora, after beating Allen, and maybe get a crack at a world title or something, even if he comes up short at the final hurdle, he can retire with some of his pride in place.

I’d love Price to do it and as Fury showed against Chisora he can be controlled with a decent jab and boxing on the outside. But Delboy looks cardio wise to be in very decent shape and after his vicious knockout in his last fight his confidence will be sky high. If all the stars align, eg Chisora disillusioned missing out on the Parker fight, Price fights the fight of his life  then it can be done. I just have the feeling the pressure will get to Price being a sorta joint headliner on a Sky PPV and he’ll gas and struggle if the fight goes past 5 or 6 rounds. An interesting fight though, better than the Parker fight i think intrigue wise.
