I think its a bit soon to bring Hangman back to take the belt in New York.

I reckon he takes it at Full Gear as I noticed the Dynamite afterwards is in his hometown, they love a homecoming so could see him going into that as the champ.

Plenty to keep Omega busy in the meantime over the next few months with the Elite against Danielson and friends, Page can come back somewhere in the middle of that to even the numbers up against the Elite and build to the big title match.

The Bucks keep stealing other people’s stuff but they’re blatant with it. A lot of their spots also resemble gymnastics routines. I can see why some people don’t like them. Cornette reckons that the Bucks are also holding back FTR on purpose, turning them into a jobber tag team just to make themselves look better. I know some of you dislike Cornette but he has booked in various promotions and been on the WWF’s creative team so maybe his opinion is valid over this.

Cornette runs a podcast to play and monetise to the audience who hate current wrestling. Anything I hear him say he’s flaming those fires. I’d not pay anything he says much attention. The revival aren’t being beaten each week to be jobbed out are they? Plus they are not as good as they think they are, couple of angry dads

FTR have lost twice since they debuted with AEW in June 2020; the tag team title loss to the Young Bucks and then to Santana & Ortiz on Dynamite last week.  Not sure how two losses in sixteen months makes them a "jobber tag team".

I absolutely hate to say it, but now, given everything that’s happened, and the buzz surrounding all these new guys, I feel like Omega needs to keep the belt in order to do the Title matches with Danielson and Punk. I still want Hangman to be the one who takes it, but I don’t feel anywhere near as much urgency as I did a month or so ago.

This makes a lot of sense - more sense than I'd probably like to admit - but I do worry about what this would mean for Hangman. It's unlikely - thought not impossible - that they would run with Omega/Punk or Omega/Danielson on any other medium than PPV. And if that's what they do, it means that we may not see Page hold the title until mid-2022. And if that's what happens, what do you do with Page during that time to ensure that he has momentum?

Actually, as I was typing that, it struck me that a long term storyline with Malaki Black could be fucking intriguing - as Black tries to manipulate Page, and encourage him to embrace the darkness. It's a little bit Bray Wyatt, but fuck it, AEW could do a tremendous job with that, as they toy with our emotions surrounding Page once again.

I think it undermines everything AEW is about if Punk and Danielson come in and get title shots in the next few months though.

I think it makes more sense for Omega to keep interacting with them both over the next couple of months, with Hangman coming back half way through that to clock up a few wins to take him up the rankings to face Omega at Full Gear.

Hangman/Omega & Bucks/Punk & Danielson is a cracking double main event for the PPV, there are around 10 or so Dynamites before the next PPV, Punk and Danielson can have a couple of singles matches in between, and maybe a warm up tag match against the Good Brothers too to build up to it on a live episode of Rampage or something.

Omega can have singles matches on PPV against Punk and Danielson next year (could probably do one of them on a "special Dynamite" or something).

I don't think those matches necessarily have to have the title involved.

I think it was a decent show for the most part.

Stuff I thought was bollocks:

Change your fucking set!

Mox's forearms always look pretty soft to me so him trading forearms with Suzuki was pretty hillarious.

Casino battle royals are TNA levels of stupid. Bin 'em. There were a lot of wrestlers I like in this match but it was pretty terrible. It kind of felt like bo time has gone into preparing for this match which matches the whole women's division largely feeling like an afterthought.

Fozzy.

Things I'm divided about:

The cage match. People obviously loved it, and I enjoyed bits of it (mostly the brawling bits) but it took me a while to get into it after their silly bollocks at the start and that stupid "let's trade superkicks" really can be put out of its misery now. Also, is it now cannon that the Good Brothers didn't interfere because they're just too lazy to climb a cage?

The "not" Big Show match was a good breather but sadly Paul Wright's looking justifiably rough.

While I'm sure the crowd were pretty knackered, I also think Punk and Allin just sucked the life out of them. Bot sure whether Punk had forgotten everything or was trying to call it in the ring but they seemed to need to stop every few minutes to have a natter and ot was really, really distractingly amateur. Credit goes to Allin for trying all he could here but Punk (justifiably) didn't seem ready for this (to me anyway).

Things I liked:

Most everything else. Jerico and MJF caught me with the false finish and I think they executed it pretty well. I liked the women's title match but they do need to decide what they're doing with Britt. Kingston and Miro was a great way to start the show and put me in a good mood for some wrestling.

It's a good thing that AEW don't run monthly PPV otherwise we'd be thinking 'title could have changed hands 5 times before Full Gear'. Means we get proper build ups and there's a reason for the blow-out match.

As it stands, what are we thinking of a card for it?

I'm guessing something along the lines of, but could be totally wrong

The Bunny&Penelope Ford v Anna Jay&Tay Conti

Womens title match  Britt Baker v Ruby Soho

TNT title match Miro v Jon Moxley

Malakai Black v Evil Uno (or DO member) - winner gets control of DO or similar.

Tag Titles Lucha Bros v Jurassic Express

Trios Title final: Bucks&Cole v Punk/Allin/Sting

Hollywood Blonds v P&P(or some other 'filler' tag match)

Sammy Guavara v MJF

World title Omega v Danielson (Hangman makes the save during postmatch beat down)

There's so many combinations or possible routes its hard to predict too much.

I'm sorry, I don't see how anyone can watch that match and think that. It had the right build and by the end the crowd were all into it with some lovely spots. It was a very well told match.

As for the future, I get the impression with OMEGA / BRYAN, they may wait until the belt is off Kenny. That match doesn't need the title to feel special.

Without sounding like I’m pulling apart your card, which I appreciate is purely speculative, I don’t think either of these feuds have got the legs to last until the next PPV. Full Gear is in 10 & a half weeks, so 10 episodes of Dynamite and Rampage each. There’s no way they’re going to be able to keep those feuds hot enough until then.

They’ll have an even tougher time building that one.

Depending when exactly Cody comes back (there’s been reports saying he’s due back by the end of the month), I reckon we could get the rematch between him and Malakai

given that the Arthur Ashe Stadium show is up in two weeks, I imagine we'll get a lot of the current storylines coming to a head there. I would expect Cody to return there, or else return before that show to set up his rematch with Malakai there, so he can do the next thing.

Yeah, there is still the rankings issue to address with Hangman also. Although IIRC they never really clarified exactly what "stepping aside" meant as a result of losing the tag match - he did step aside from the top ranking, meaning Christian got the next shot (and lost).

Now that's out of the way, his existing 2021 W/L record should allow him to slot back in again at the top fairly quickly - I don't recall it being a "step aside for a year" or "no shots as long as I'm champion" thing. The fact it wasn't absolute might actually be a nice thing to address directly, in a "you're not as smart as you thought you were, Kenny/Don" way.

I think you can fairly quickly deal with the issue of Hangman getting enough confidence back to step up to Omega again with a "I'm a father now, I'm not just fighting for me anymore" angle.

I think Danielson should have his first match here. No idea who against though, I would like to see him against Cole but would they want one of them to lose so early on?

Maybe give him a semi squash against Karl Anderson or something, and let Cole get his first win here against Christian.

Think Britt/Ruby will happen also happen here too.

End the show with the Elite beating down Danielson, Punk, Christian etc with Hangman coming in for the save.

Love that there is so many possibility's with AEW at the minute.
