Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 17, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 17, 2021 (edited) Thought it was about time we got a thread dedicated to KO's. I remember a time when KO's in MMA in particular were fairly sacred. Back before Youtube and Twitter, the old UFC Greatest Knockouts DVD's were a necessity for fans. I remember sticking those things on at people houses and everyone gathering to watch the hostilities. These days we get KO of the year type shit every single week from the most random places, we are bombarded with it. So i thought why not set up a thread to share some. Any knockouts, any sport, get em in... I'll open it with the big boys. That knockout was featured on the DVD that accompanied the Pride FC PS2 game. Possibly the first MMA knockout I ever saw. Still love a bit of Igor.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted March 17, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 17, 2021 I think Baroni vs Menne was the first MMA knockout I saw. The best EVA.

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 17, 2021 Author Paid Members Share Posted March 17, 2021 there's 2 MMA knockouts that seemed to resonate with everyone the first time they saw it. One was that Baroni KO, the other was Belfort KO'ing Wanderlei. They were like two ultimate gateway knockouts for new fans back in the day. jimufctna24
Belfort's win over Wanderlei must have felt like an anomaly 5 years later. Belfort achieved very little after that fight until the late 2000s, whereas Wanderlei became one of the best fighters in the sport in the early 2000s.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted March 17, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 17, 2021 Not the most spectacular, but definitely the most satisfying. Â
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 17, 2021 Author Paid Members Share Posted March 17, 2021 It made Belfort though, those first few Vitor wins in the UFC set him up for life. Looking back at his record, Belfort wouldn't score another KO win for close to five years which is pretty nuts. He ended with one of the best highlight reels in the sport though.
