He signed a 10 fight deal after the Stephan Bonnar fight in 2012. This is fight number 9. So unless the UFC have come to some agreement to let him go and do his thing elsewhere after this fight, he’s going to have to have one more fight in the Octagon if he’s not retiring. There was also that time he stepped in last minute against Cormier at UFC 200 and kind of saved their bacon so that could be something he can use as leverage. Maybe. The UFC don’t usually do things like that but Dana does seem insistent that this is it for Anderson one way or another. I give up. He’s never going to retire is he? I don't see him having the same pulling power as he did, otherwise he wouldn't be headlining a Fight Night show. Could be that the UFC are happy to just let him go off and do his own thing now. End of an era. Haven’t watched these myself yet but should be worth a look.
