Mr_Danger 3,392
Have the Series X’s even had a second wind of stock? Seem’s just as hard if not harder to get one of them. Xbox who stopped reporting physical sales of Xbox’s have said it’s there best launch ever.  A lad I know sold his PS5 digital preorder for £700. Not the physical item just the preorder of it. Some mad money to be had.

If they leave the parcels safely they have to take pictures but if they scan as delivered then it would be a bit awkward if you asked the customer to stand there holding it however I don’t know if that’s the case for all of Amazon. They very well may take pictures where a lot of people claim to have not received an item or when it’s an agency staff member delivering. I had a moderately desirable bit of kit delivered the other day and Amazon sent me a one time password that I had to give to the delivery driver to tap into his phone to mark the item as delivered. I was speaking to an Amazon lad the other day and he reckons they get £150-£200 a day on the vans and that’s with having the vans provided so god knows why they’d jeopardise a decent wedge by doorstepping parcels let alone robbing them. Why on earth anyone nicks goods at the last stop on the production line is beyond me. I understand (not condone) opportunistic thieving like in warehouses or handballing but there’s no way you can get away with it on delivery. Plus, my customers give me Double Deckers and let me piss in their outhouses, I’d never risk losing that!
Paid Members scratchdj 2,548 Posted November 27, 2020 Paid Members Report Share Posted November 27, 2020 I managed to pick up a copy of Dirt 5 on Xbox for £15.62 using a VPN. Great fun as a frantic arcade racer, but good lord it looks awful. Digital Foundry did an analysis video on it and what is becoming more and more common with cross-platform titles, it looks and plays better on PS5. Codemasters claim to be brining out a patch to fix the problems, but even still and even with the X/S stamp on the title image, it looks like an early Xbox One game. That all said, I’m getting my £15’s worth.
Paid Members scratchdj 2,548 Posted December 1, 2020 Paid Members Report Share Posted December 1, 2020 Apologies for the double post and silly question, but if you have a PS5 Digital version, can you only download games from PSN on the console itself? I’m more used to Xbox where it seems download codes are readily available from all over the place, but that doesn’t seem to be the same for PlayStation. Have I got that right? If so, that makes being a PS gamer a lot more expensive surely?
Bicurious Dad 972
You can still buy codes to redeem on the PS store but they’re less readily available on there compared to Xbox/steam codes. That’s always been the way though on PS4 as well for digital titles
The King Of Swing 1,226
Amazon have the Series S in stock for those interested. Probably want to get on it quick though.
Rule One 130
Has anyone got an Series X? My brother got one today and it's been nothing short of a nightmare. He rushed through setting it up and it just started being a twat. It shut down twice for no reason and when he plugged his HDD in to transfer his XBO stuff over and it just went scolding hot and shut down. A hard reset and a slow walk through it seems to be running ok now. The loading speeds are impressive but the pad is noisy as fuck. Just wondering if anyone else has one and/or encountered any problems with yours.
Paid Members scratchdj 2,548 Posted December 3, 2020 Paid Members Report Share Posted December 3, 2020 @Rule One Yeah, that sounds really broken. Mine’s been rock solid, icy cold and whisper quiet ever since I’ve got it. I’d say anything other than that is worth a return. My PS5 arrived yesterday and the controller is fucking wonderful. Astro’s Playroom is possibly the best Mario game since Galaxy.

Cheers for the reply, he's keeping the console for the moment as there's no way he's getting a replacement in the next month or so. It's been running fine today, cold as ice and really quiet, no shutdowns or crashes. I think the integration between the SSD, external HDD/SSD's has been bodged along with a lot of the backwards compatibility. I can't make heads or tails of this upgraded nonsense. He's put in Mortal Kombat 11 and it's got about 100gb of downloading to do overall so it can look a tiny bit better in 4k as far as I can gather. The install menu makes no sense but we're letting it run through to see how the console handles things. It's certainly put me off considering getting one.
Paid Members scratchdj 2,548 Posted December 3, 2020 Paid Members Report Share Posted December 3, 2020 (edited) @Rule One I also had the ballache with MK11 Ultimate. I think that the idea of buying a game on disc to save having to download the game is now an obsolete thought. The next gen FIFA 21 update went live today, a day early. It’s rather amazing. It’s now just a slight squint away from looking like you’re watching an actually game of footy on the telly. It plays great too, really smooth. The new camera angle takes some getting used to, but it really does look like a next gen game. Edit: I recorded this last night. It goes a bit mental following the 2nd goal, which starts about 40 seconds in. The clip quality seems to be reduced somewhat as it was downloaded from the Xbox, rather than being captured.  Edited December 4, 2020 by scratchdj
Rule One 130
@scratchdj Fifa looks really good, thanks for replying and posting footage. I'm wondering if online play will become better now because the system might be able to process things much faster than previous generations or EA haven't sorted their shitty servers out and it will just be a faster shitshow than players currently get. Since the X was hard reset and no external HDD/SSD's plugged in, its ran as it should be expected to. No crashes, no insane heat or no delays. It seems a decent bit of kit when it's running well, the load times on Mortal Kombat 11 both off and online were seriously impressive. Older games have run amazingly well and fast too. Microsoft still need to sort the adaptive software out in terms of user interface, 3rd party games/items and the flow of servers but it's early days and things can only improve. I'm still not tempted by either myself at the moment but another year or two and I'll be on board.

Merzbow 3,270
Buying a game on disc but having to download it all? Welcome to PC gaming 2010. Optical media is obsolete at this point, read speeds aren't fast enough to run this new gen's games and Blu-ray's can't even hold the entire thing. Â
King of Hamptons 199
With Christmas money now have enough for a PS5.. Just got to find one. I refuse to pay ebay prices. Anyone know when more are being released? Or is it a case of keep looking?
