Fairytale Weddings is cracking.  The Mrs better not get any ideas though as even without the chance of imminent death the £/$ makes a trip to America in the next decade unlikely.

We got it yesterday and I ended up watching The Mandalorian, which even considering I'm not really arsed about Star Wars was fantastic. My Wife then made us watch Lion King 2: Simba's Pride during tea, and then we stuck Recess on after which we thought still holds up even though the last time we watched it was during the initial run on SMTV Live.

My plan is to actually watch all the Star Wars proper but I've no idea how to start, do I go release order or chronological order? My current situation with the films is as follows:

Episode 1 - Went to see in the cinema when it came out, so I was 9. I had a panic attack in the middle of it and so only really remember that and them being underwater.
Episode 2 - Not seen
Episode 3 - Only really remember the lava fight and his wife dying. Pretty miserable.
Episodes 4-6 - I last saw them when they were on over Christmas back in around 2012, I can't tell you which one is which.
Episodes 7, 8, 9, Solo and Rogue One - Not seen.

Either approach is off-putting because I know I'll have to watch Episodes 1-3, does getting them out the way soften the blow or are they better sandwiched between the good films?

You can quite easily skip 1-3 and it won't really effect your enjoyment of 4-9 and the others. Plus it means you won't have to watch them which is a massive bonus because they are so bad.

Started my Disney Afternoon block today and decided to throw Gargoyles in as an add on, wow had I forgot what an incredible show this was (and that's after only one episode), the next couple of days are going to be a bit short as I've come across a curious omission, episodes 2&3 of Ducktales are missing as the list order jumps straight to episode 4

I got to see Spiderman Unlimited today for the first time. It was the follow up to the excellent 90's Spiderman cartoon. It was awful. However, I followed that up by watching Spiderman and his Amazing Friends and discovered an episode with The X-Men which I guess was their first cartoon appearance. It also provided this great shot of Charles Xavier

I’ve been following the social media channels for a while, mainly as I would imagine that’s where you will find new content announcements. The last few days, and I realise this is a ‘Old Man Yells at Cloud’ moment, but fucking hell what a bunch of entitled pricks people are today-

“why isn’t Frozen 2 and Rise of the Skywalker on there?”

”you should be offering this for free in these difficult times”

”make an app for my TV”

”not enough choice”

”they’ve only released 2 episodes of Mandalorian until the 7 day trial finishes, then they’ll release it all next week”

And it goes on and on like that. That trial one is a proper facepalmer.

The Imagineering Story is fantastic.  The footage from the construction of Disneyland and interviews with imagineers who are sadly no longer with us make the first episode an absolute must watch for me.

Two Mickey hands up.

We’re watching that at the moment. Fascinating stuff, and amazing archive footage too. It says S1 E1, are they releasing weekly episodes?

I don't know about the schedule, but there's a sneak peak of Episode 2 that came up to select at the end!

Noticed they had Doug on there

Realise it's the shitty Disney version after they bought the rights and not the original series

Doesn't even have the proper theme. Fuck this shit.

Yes. I think there are 6 in total. Like Mandalorian they are doing the same schedule the US got 4 weeks ago. I saw the first 3 and were all great so going to watch the whole thing again

Right so we started watching the Star Wars films in Chronological order and have done 1 and 2 so far. I’ll bullet point my opinions into good and bad.

Episode 1

Good:

Darth Maul lightsaber fight
Pod Racing
Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon

Bad:

The CGI.
Nearly everyone’s acting.
The film is almost entirely exposition and not very interesting at that.
Jar Jar Binks.

Overall a bad movie. Darth Maul only gets about 2 minutes screen time. It’s a crawl with a few good bits and Star Wars politics isn’t as exciting as George Lucas must think it is.

Episode 2

Good:

A lot more action to break up the boring politics.
The acting for the most part is better.
Yoda’s lightsaber fight.

Bad:

It’s 2 and a half hours long and needs to be nowhere near that.
The plot is massively confusing, with the clones being made by bad guys to help the good guys but then the bad guys control them again at the end, but Dooku is bad and tells the Jedi about Darth Sidious. Maybe we misunderstood but we couldn’t make head or tails of it.

Overall better than 1 because the flaws are hidden by actual things happening on screen almost constantly. Anakin’s path to the Dark Side is interesting to see unfold.

The lockdown is serious if you're watching Episode II. Christ. Keep this up though, it's always interesting to hear the opinion of someone 'new' to the franchise.

I don't know how you can say the acting is better than I when the awful love scenes are in there. I lay all blame at Lucas' door as Christensen and Portman are capable of so much better. His script and direction are abysmal.

Those two are shocking throughout but this one is held up by McGregor being better, and then Christopher Lee, Samuel L Jackson and co having decent screen time. I think Young Anakin is a better actor than old Anakin.
