Paid Members PunkStep Posted March 23, 2020 Author Paid Members Share Posted March 23, 2020 PE this afternoon! I took a short break from work to play basketball (HORSE). My 8yo son enjoyed it, my 10yo daughter decided lying on a blanket in the sun was 'PE'. Apparently she's allowed to do this during PE at school. Lord give me strength.

Lord give me strength. You're going to turn into 'Competitive Dad' from The Fast Show aren't you? Emailing my eldest this afternoon and she tells me that the current book she is writing is based on this: "Its called IT WAS ME!!! and the blurb is very funny: WARNING: NOT TO BE READ AFTER DARK! shiver in fear as you cry yourself to sleep reading such a horrifically amazing murderer. Will he kill everyone in the city before the virus does?" Cannot believe my child is trying to exploit the virus. What a capitalist*      *Publishing this as soon as it's finished. Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted March 23, 2020 Awards Moderator Share Posted March 23, 2020 The local war museum by mine is hosting an online history lesson via Facebook on Wednesday at 1pm. The museum is situated on the old site of the strategic base used during WWII and has been renovated to be a replica of it: Here's the blurb for the lesson: "We will be streaming  a live Facebook history lesson on life in Wartime Liverpool - aimed at Primary school age, but relevant for all. The lesson will include a tour around Western Approaches Secret WW2 HQ in Liverpool city centre. The lesson will also discuss the Battle of The Atlantic, the role of Liverpool during the war, rationing, air raids and more. All free of charge and any child who completes the lesson will get a free pass to Western Approaches worth £8 when we eventually re-open. We will also be adding more lessons to You Tube to keep history as a topic for children to learn whilst they are off school. Follow us on our social channels for more details. Our lessons will be hosted by a fully qualified teacher" I've been a few times with mates' kids and they've loved it, so hopefully this might be quite engaging for some of your kids. Make sure she understands that the numbers 1 to 12 on the clock represent the hours but also 5 minute increments of time so look at counting the 5 minute increments to the next hour for example from 6:35 on the clock you'd have 5 5 minute increments which would give you 25 minutes so then look at what the next hour after 6 is. If you have access to a printer you could print off these loop cards to play with her: https://www.sparklebox.co.uk/previews/11426-11450/sb11433-5-minutes-analogue-time-loop-cards.html Twinkl is also free for parents at the moment (just need to sign up). I've used this board game before and they've got loads of other resources too. https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t2-m-1619-telling-the-time-board-game Alternatively time is bloody hard to teach so just give up! This video sums up how hard it is to teach time. https://youtu.be/0QVPUIRGthI

Stylin_and_Profilin
Good stuff on here. Although she works as a lecturer now the missus is a primary teacher to trade with specialism in additional support needs. I'm in awe of her the way she has been with our two (5 + 6) so Primary 1 and Primary 2 level. If anyone is looking for anything specifically i'm sure she'd be happy to share, feel free to PM me. One particularly nifty thing she put together was a tuck shop. They each get a 'virtual' ÂŁ1 a day and once it'd gone it's gone; crisps and chocolate are 50p for example, fruit 20p, haribo 30p, diluting juice 10p and water is free etc etc. Really good for a wee bit of self discipline and stops the "mummy i'm hungry!" every fifteen minutes. Then you move around the clock explaining you are 5 mins past her, then ten etc. When you get to half past tell her you are now moving towards a new hour have her move half way to 1 and then do the same again toward her "I am now 25 minutes to you etc. Edited March 24, 2020 by Joe Blog
