Just been in the smaller of the two Tesco in Lincoln. Things were pretty much in stock apart from loo roll and pet food. Did see one guy at the till getting told by the checkout girl that he couldn't

People have lost any sense of good social etiquette. I nipped into my local Aldi the other day before lunch for a second bottle of whiskey and some scrote started shouting to get away from him.

I keep pestering my wife to move to a different country but she is having none of it. I have Irish citizenship so keep pushing for a move over there.

Is Ireland your first choice? Or do you have anywhere else on the list?

Well Australia would be my first choice due to weather and life style but my wife is really reluctant to leave her parents so I floated Ireland as a possible to her. She is a doctor so visas should hopefully be ok to come by. I doubt she will ever go for it but I really despise this country.

I ask because many of the more attractive countries in Europe, such as Scandinavian nations, are nowhere near as stringent on the pandemic as we seem to be. Lockdowns are a thing of the past in most of them, and mask-wearing isn't as prevalent as it is here in certain nations.

Basically, if anyone thinks we're lax on our approach, then there's a lot of nations that will give them the fear.

In Antarctica there's not even your basic social distancing! Rule Britannia 🍻

In countries such as Sweden, Austria and Denmark there's more emphasis on social distancing than demanding everyone wear masks.

The general line of thought is that masks provide people with a false sense of security.

Mentality here and in the replies. It’s almost as if they don’t realise  majority government means the Tories are responsible for everything and no party and can push anything else through

What you've described sounds like just Sweden.  Denmark have mandated masks, at the very least on public transport, and Austria were one of the maskiest maskers and put a lot of their success down to their massive use of masks.

So Wales has an 11pm pub curfew. Pubs tend to close 11pm anyway out of the cities

Point?

Stop the cities being open until 3am.

I just hope this means Hereford doesn't have as much in the way of the valleys coming into town on a Saturday and going home on the Sunday as most our places are open later and cheaper than Cardiff. Town has been hell since July for people being smashed at 6pm or kicking off in pubs and getting the last train back or first one next morning.

I appreciate that, but it won't make a difference in rural areas of whivh we've loads even in the lockdown areas.

Surely 9 or so would make more sense.

I have been drinking the last few nights so maybe my perspective is off but is anyone else now a bit frightened?

Haven't felt that way before.

Not frightened, more angry that people don’t seem to comprehend that it’s their actions that’s causing us to be so far behind everyone else. Watching the G1 matches at the weekend and when they showed a wide shot of the venue, I was actually annoyed that Japan have managed to get a point where they’ve got a few thousand people in a place (and fair play to them for doing so), yet we’re stuck on 6, not six thousand, 6 people.

I popped to my local Sainsbury’s on the way home, they’ve cleared out the toilet roll aisle like it’s March all over again, people haven’t fucking learned anything in the last few months. Where I work we have a designated place with hand sanitiser. When we reopened virtually every customer was using it. Now, the amount of people who have just stopped sanitising their hands, and seemingly act like having to do so is some form of punishment, is absolutely alarming.

They’re saying that these new measures could be in place for 6 months, and the public have  no-one to blame but themselves.

Then you’ve got people like my sister in law, who at the start wouldn’t go out of the house without a mask and 2 pairs of gloves on, has done a total 180 and thinks that it’s a government agenda to “get more power”. Yesterday she acknowledges “there might be a virus, be it’s not as deadly as we’re being lead to believe”. 900,000 people dead, that’s like turning on the news and having Huw Edwards say “tonight’s headlines - Montenegro and Iceland are dead”
