I wonder how a substantial minority of people in the UK whom consider the idea of wearing a face mask in public to be a burden on their "freedoms" would have coped during World War II?

"I'm not fuckin' getting my KFC rationed! It's like Nazi Germany!!"

These last few months have seen those whom previously talked a lot about the "Blitz Spirit" turn quickly into the biggest snowflakes imaginable.

Or indeed wearing a gasmask, as was required during raids in the blitz.

Just been in the smaller of the two Tesco in Lincoln. Things were pretty much in stock apart from loo roll and pet food. Did see one guy at the till getting told by the checkout girl that he couldn't

People have lost any sense of good social etiquette. I nipped into my local Aldi the other day before lunch for a second bottle of whiskey and some scrote started shouting to get away from him.

My best friend of nearly 40 years was complaining online about this "socialist" government taking away his "right to karaoke".

We see each other probably twice a year. Since the referendum on leaving the EU, even that has often seemed perhaps a bit too frequent.

It was a proper waste of time, money and resources making all those gas maks, since they never used poison gas once.

For some bloody reason libraries aren't included in the mandatory mask deal.

Fuck knows why.

It would require the government to give a shit about libraries, which they haven't done for the last however many years...

I mean, I expected them not to include libraries in the announcement but not to actually state that it doesn't apply to libraries.

I work in one. I've already lost a colleague (and friend) from Covid and my employers are already cutting corners. I really can't stand to lose anymore.

Unsurprisingly I'm not the only person who's concerned about it. It also turns out that some libraries are still saying visitors need to wear masks.

The head of my library service has tried to quell fears by saying:

"I hope (and expect) many visitors will wear masks."

Well hey, I'm very comforted by the fact that you *hope* that's the case.

Cases are on the rise again. And the death rate stubbornly refuses to properly fall. We wandered into the first wave apparently assuming it couldn't happen here. I'm worried we're about to do the same thing with a second wave, but while refusing to shut anything down or even wear masks without whining.

I must say the overwhelming majority are wearing masks. I've been on the tube a few times now and have been pleasantly surprised to see everyone with one on. Same in the shop. Its easy to think nobody is giving a shit, but I haven't experienced it that way on the times I've been out. Even in pubs people have been patient and kept to the rules.

Also on holidays, I had written off this year from the time this all hit. It is baffling that people then jetted off. I go on holiday to relax. The fact this is everywhere means I really couldn't. Fair enough if you live here and have gone back to see family, but the rest...come on. There is no excuse for it.

All settings 7 day rolling average is holding steady in the mid 60s but the hospital one has consistently fallen (currently standing at a little over 14)
