That is why a half decent opposition is important, but even so I wouldn't read much it into it, incumbents always receive a boost in popularity during a national crisis. 

The Poles are suffering just like we are, although being in close proximity to Germany they probably have a better handle on things

Not that comparisons particularly matter because it's all fucking tragic but are the reported deaths on the level? France weren't including care home deaths at one point. I dunno if they are now. We weren't but apparently are now. No idea if everyone else is. Also there will be countless deaths everywhere not linked to Covid officially.

Either way, it's not good.

What a day.

Nan's likely to die in the next few days from advanced cancer/dementia/possible Covid

Mum fell this morning and impaled her eye on  the loo brush holder has been in A&E and has to go back to possibly have one of her eyes removed tomorrow, plus obligatory Covid test

Back to Work, entered in to a complete shitshow, the utterly useless person who has been overseeing one of my jobs whilst away has completely fucked everything up, the giant cock womble. The last 18 months getting something that actually works and makes things better and easier allround and have produced the best stats the service has ever had  have been for fuck all then *sigh*

Dad's COPD is getting worse and though he is down to yearly from last bout of Bowel Cancer, he is in poor health.

I've a  multitude of post surgery complications 

My bessie was sexually assaulted by her housemate

There's loads more, I'm tired and I needed some where to vent.

Piers Morgan is obviously a really septic willy tip.  I found it interesting what he had to say regarding his latest OFCOM ruling, essentially lots of complaints were made because he was being not nice to a variety of government ministers regarding their handling of the whole thing, but of course, the complainants aren't snowflakes at all.  That's the other lot.  

He said how most of the vitriol he was receiving on Twitter was from people who voted leave and saw him as betraying vote leave and switching sides. He pointed out that he voted remain anyway and besides, this isn't about Brexit, it's a separate issue.  But for me, that's the root of what is stopping any form of scrutiny of the handling.  It's the absolute bullshit tribalistic "Support your team through thick and thin" approach to politics.  Johnson has the easiest ride of any politician in my lifetime from the press and the public.  He is Brexit Boris, he GOT BREXIT DONE and if you criticise him, you're either a remoaner or just as bad as a remoaner.

Don't get me wrong, he and his team have been cultivating it for decades and it's pretty genius.  We've all seen the "Leave Boris alone, he is doing his best" cack that the millions of apologists come out with.  He isn't some kid struggling in Maths class, he's the fucking Prime Minister.  If your best isn't good enough and leads to thousands of deaths, you should be held accountable and removed from office.

But no, you can't say anything bad because he is our Churchill, he GOT BREXIT DONE and to scrutinise him in any way is a betrayal of the will of the people.  God I fucking hate that cunt and anyone who likes that cunt.  And sorry for not using the Tories Are Cunts thread but it's more apposite in this one.

Anybody see the thing about Matt Hancock telling Dr Rosena Alliri-Khan to watch her tone in the Commons when she had the audacity to use her expreiences as an A&E Doctor to call the government out on the massive failings she's witnessed working on the frontline?

Mum's off to eye hospital today to be re assessed and see how that goes. Drs at A&E and specialists have said she's going to lose  hereye, but are waiting to see if antibiotics do anything first..  Keeping every thing crossed.

There's a worrying trend for NHS frontline workers to be silenced and belittled. It's instant sack if speak to the press, which is why so many are 'played by an actor' or have their faces blurred. Iam glad that there are a few that are speaking out regards to that irrespective. Trust directives are such that staff cant get involved in anything political as to show any kind of affiliation as it could prejudice treatment and puts front line staff in an impossible position. Overworked, overtired and in many cases redeployed or not in their specialities it's a mess, before getting to PPE etc and then the treatment of service users etc. Some nurses I know are burnt out some have self isolated after developing Covid or covid symptoms and will likely not work again because they have PTSD and the rest from what they have seen or what they have done. There's naff all in the way of support for them either. I suspect that when this is over there is going to have to be changes as many frontline staff simply wont be there to do what they do and then shit will hit the fan

Seems the current Government strategy is taking a twist. They've announced a slight tweak in the messaging to 'stay at home' whilst at the same time briefing the tabloids that restrictions will be eased. The public will largely view this as the green light to get out & socialise. The death rate continues & it's all the plebs fault now for not listening to the 'clear & consistent' message from our leaders. Brits get angry with each other, thousands more avoidable deaths. Johnson gains 5 points in the pollls.
