Best version was on the Amiga, but I've got a MegaDrive copy, and somebody made a clone app called GigaLoMania which is pretty much a direct copy, with the same gods and people, just different names. It's clear the maker was a fan, as he went and re-created the voice acting for the few spoken lines in it (which was big for the time of the original). I had this on my Atari. It was fun but I had no idea what was going on until it would inevitably crash about 25 minutes in. Street Racer on the SNES was brilliant. Not the mega drive version though, where every track was the same, just with different artwork.
TheToeSucker
Okay a serious answer, Dogs Life on the PS2 was a good game, You play as a dog, and you act like a dog, you even can take a shit. It was a weirdly awesome fun game.

I don't remember really playing the racing parts due to how much we used to play the football mode!
CAREBEAR LUVVA
I'll go for Mainlining, on PC and Switch. You're a 90s cyber detective, sat in front of an old computer, hacking into various websites and directories to track down a bunch of criminals. Loads of fun, and makes you feel dead clever when you solve the cases correctly.

It's taken decades for Rocket League to come along and fill that Street Racer-shaped hole in my life! Wasn't there a Rumble mode too, where you have to bump fools off the map? GTA3 was such a nonsensical suggestion, but then again, ToeSucker innit.
lanky316
Yeah there was. It's quite funny looking back it was a decent Kart game on it's own but with Rocket League and Destruction Derby elements as well. Such a good game, it's a shame it was just a one off. Merzbow
I actually contemplated picking up a CD32 and modding it with a Terrible Fire 328, you can turn it into a pretty damn nice boosted A1200.
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted September 30, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted September 30, 2019 I've got the Saturn version of Street Racer. It's a good little proto kart racer when developers were still trying to figure out what made a good kart racer. It had some interesting gimmicks.

Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted October 1, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted October 1, 2019 It's a ZX Spectrum game so you'll need an Emulator and a ROM and all that faf. Try and get a game called "Armageddon Man". You literally play God and you're trying to get all of these countries negotiating with each other or wars will start. You've got an atlas of the world in front of you and you see missiles coming over. It's a bit complicated to understand, it must have been well wacky for 87/88/89. It's great. It wasn't made by a major company.
