Facts that make you feel old

Recommended Posts

Found an old Lemon Jelly mix from the Breezeblock on Radio 1 that my mates and I used to listen to on road trips on SoundCloud today. It's 20 years old.

This has never occurred to me before, but the word "Papa" in this song is really annoying. Who the hell says "Papa" who isn't Latino?

I used to call one of my Grandads (who was Scottish) Papa and neither me nor my sisters are Latino.

On the subject of the Wonder Years, there hasn't really been much in the way of TV shows set in the 90s during the last decade, in the same way that for years TV would have nostalgic shows set around 20 years in the past (Happy Days, Wonder Years, That 70s show, Everybody Hates Chris).

Calling a grandparent Papa is definitely a Scottish thing. My wife, who is Scottish, called both of her parents dad's Papa.

I work with a 19 year old lad. He once said to me “I started watching this show on Netflix last week. Never heard of it before but it’s quite funny. Not sure if you know of it but it’s called Only Fools and Horses. It’s pretty funny, you should check it out”.

He also told us about how Peter Jackson’s 2005 movie, King Kong, was the first movie he ever saw in the cinema. He found it very scary as he was ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME!

Hes also never lived in a world without broadband internet.

Does he like the scene where Del Boy falls through the bar?

Kane’s May 19th gimmick was not only the day See No Evil came out, but also the day I finished senior school.

That May 19th gimmick is stuck in my head so badly. I can't remember most of the members of my family's birthdays but I remember the date See No Evil was released.
