The AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite Thread

And now a return to touring:

Quote

May 10, 2021 – After safely hosting 27 live, ticketed events throughout the past nine months at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Fla., AEW is bringing the excitement of its flagship show AEW DYNAMITE to Miami, Austin and Dallas this summer. AEW will become the first major wrestling promotion to safely return to a traveling schedule since March 2020.

The dates for the live shows in Miami, Austin and Dallas are:

Wednesday, July 7: James L. Knight Center in Miami.

Wednesday, July 14: H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas (greater Austin area)

Wednesday, July 21: Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas (greater Dallas area)

General tickets for the three shows will go on sale this Friday, May 14, at 11 a.m. ET / 10 a.m. CT via AEWTIX.com. At the same time, tickets for the Miami and Austin shows will be available via Ticketmaster.com, while tickets for the Dallas show can be purchased at CurtisCulwellCenter.com. Tickets start at $30 (not including service charges or fees). Each event will be held in compliance with state COVID safety guidelines, and seating capacities will adhere to state and local mandates.

“We’re so appreciative of our fans in Jacksonville who have been with us these past nine months, ” said Tony Khan, CEO, GM and Head of Creative of AEW. “Their support and incredible energy have lifted us week after week, and viewers have fed off their enthusiasm and support. Daily’s Place will always be our home.

“Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to welcome our fans back to become part of the action in Miami, Austin and Dallas. We’ve missed touring cities, meeting the fans and hearing their roar during our live shows. Please be assured, we are working closely with the venues to comply with state and local regulations in each city. Miami, Austin and Dallas are the first of many as we gear up the trucks to travel around the country again! ”

In the near future, AEW will be announcing additional live events for the late summer.

The company also announced two rescheduled dates for St. Louis and New Orleans:

The show at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis on June 23 has been rescheduled for Friday, November 5, 2021. The live event will be an AEW TNT television taping.

The show at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January, 12, 2022, as an AEW DYNAMITE event.

Fans who have already purchased tickets to either show will have their original tickets valid for admission to the respective rescheduled show, or they can receive a refund via the point of purchase.

As AEW continues to deliver the best matches and most entertaining moments in professional wrestling today, be sure to tune into AEW DYNAMITE every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on TNT.

Bet that'll annoy Vince that they got there first.

Right people, right time, just the wrong location.

Fucking hell who’s arsed. Let people get excited about things.

The Good Brothers are like a team of Christian and Matt Hardy. They both feel like the worst person in their team, it just happens to be the same team.

I don’t know why both WWE and AEW aren’t seeking out as many outdoor venues as possible. Beaches, theme parks, festivals, boats, whatever. Not only is it safer but it’ll make for a far more enjoyable show than just another bog standard stadium filled with Covid.

Especially considering what time of year it is. Fair enough if it was Winter and you didn't want everyone freezing their bollocks off.

Definitely. There's loads of really cool and unique outdoor venues in the US which have amazing set ups and beautiful surroundings they could use which would give the shows a really original and fresh feel.

How great would it be to have a Dynamite at one of the top outdoor amphitheaters like these:

I can't see Miro losing. Darby getting chucked down the stairs gives him an out, maybe it'll go the way the Brian Cage/Adam Page match went the other week, where Darby gets a few hope spots in, but is in no condition to put up a real fight against Miro, then somewhere down the line they have the rematch, Darby comes a lot closer but again Miro is just too much for him. I don't think he needs the belt to be over, maybe a little program with Kenny after he's dealt with Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky. Heck maybe he's the one to dethrone Kenny somewhere down the line instead of Hangman Page. He's certainly popular enough with the fans.

Outdoor amphitheatre shows are ace. They're very well set up for wrestling too. Even in this country, Riptide ran one at Brighton Open Air Theatre (which isn't exactly huge) but it looked amazing and made for a great atmosphere.

Dark and Elevation worth a watch now? Have they streamlined it or is it still way too long?

Both are 90mins-2hours each week but I find them to be very easy and relaxing watches.

They definitely still have a million matches on Dark. But the line up this week looks great:

  • Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston vs. Milk Chocolate
  • Nyla Rose vs. Ashley D'Amboise
  • Brian Cage vs. Bear Bronson
  • Ryan Nemeth and Cezar Bononi vs. Liam Gray and Adrian Alanis
  • Mike Sydal vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
  • The Factory (QT Marshall, Nick Comoroto and Aaron Solow) vs. Jake Logan, RYZIN and Rick Recon
  • Big Swole and Red Velvet vs. MK Twins
  • Willow Nightingale vs. Diamante
  • Marty Casaus vs. Jungle Boy
  • Varsity Blonds vs. Jaylen Brandyn and Traevon Jordan (Waves & Curls on the indies)
  • Lance Archer vs. Angel Fashion
  • The Acclaimed vs. Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela
  • 10 vs. JD Drake
  • Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart

The November St. Louis show is on a Friday and described as a "TNT taping" rather than a Dynamite taping. Could this be for the new second show?

Friday Night War coming soon!

I haven't watched Dark in a while but I find Elevation to a pretty easy watch every week.

If you're a fan of Mox (and who isn't) then you're getting triple your money this week with him being on all 3 shows, tonight on Elevation he's up against Danny Limelight, tomorrow on Dark he's in a tag match with Kingston against Milk Chocolate then on Wednesday he defends the IWGP US Title on Dynamite against Yuji Nagata

Your weekly reminder that Eddie Kingston is the best.

He’s one of the best promos I’ve ever seen. So believable and authentic, it’s like no-one ever smartened him up that it’s a work, like The Truman Show. They have to transition him to Kenny Omega over the summer. He needs to cut some more promos about the importance of the World Title. By the time Hangman wins the belt it’s going to feel like the most important thing that ever existed.

As much as I like the fantastical and over the top characters in wrestling over the years, I also love the down to earth believable ones that feel like they're not playing a character. Eddie is the perfect example of that. Stick him in front of a camera and it doesn't feel like a promo. It doesn't feel scripted or that he has any bullet points to hit or anything like that. It feels like he's talking from the heart every single time.

It's the emotion that WWE only manage to capture on their behind the scenes documentaries on the Network because they have no interest in showing the majority of the roster in any human way.
