Paid Members tiger_rick Posted June 25, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted June 25, 2019 Have we got a Meltzer thread? Anyway, this is one. Maybe the most polarising figure on the site. Let's have his best and worst bits. I adore this tweet. He's 100% right and proves it by using an analogy that is 100% wrong. That takes some incredible "talent". Keith Houchen
There is Meltzer talk in this thread but we could do with a catch all thread. He isn't a journalist, he's a sports writer and historian, but he has a brilliant Titantron so that counts for a lot.

Pier Six Brawler
I much prefer to read Meltzers historic articles than his work on current wrestling.

Yakashi
He is far, far too emotionally and personally invested in New Japan and AEW to the point where he’s just become a twitter troll gimmick now, which is ironically the thing he complains about the most. He's a workrate wanker. He always has been. It's not just those promotions, he overrates NXT regularly. In fairness, though he's made some daft claims, he's just as desperate for AEW to force a reaction from WWE as most of us who see wrestling in a real nadir at the moment. One of his tweets today criticised people who want WWE to die as being as bad as those who don't want AEW to push them to be better. He's right. Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted June 26, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted June 26, 2019 Meh. I preferred Big Dave before I followed him on twitter. He spends a silly amount of time tweeting shite.
Paid Members BomberPat Posted June 26, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted June 26, 2019 The thing with Meltzer is that he's trying to be a critic, a journalist, and an opinion columnist all at once. And when the vast majority of people don't read or hear anything behind the paywall, it all gets conflated into one, so something that he might speculate about or suggest as a good idea on a podcast gets reported on the NEWZ sites as fact, because they don't make the distinction between his journalism and his opinion. It was an odd one, I thought - Seth's was back when he talked about Peyton Royce's figure. So quote-tweeting that in this context was a strange one.
