When Solskjaer came in, "We're Man United" seemed to be a catchphrase and yet no-one at the club seems to have any idea what it means. For all his faults, Roy Keane does. There was a funny clip doing the rounds a few months back when he flippantly said "Just go get Harry Kane" and the others in the studio looked at him like he had two heads but he was fucking adamant. That attitude doesn't exist at the moment. Solskjaer is talking about going and getting players on loan to cover Rashford. Fucking loan signings at Manchester United. Keane and Neville both spoke out after Mourinho went about the faults being above the manager and they clearly are. The lack of expertise above the manager is frightening. They lurch from one "strategy" to another. But if that's the case, they have to have somebody stronger and more experienced as manager. Someone who won't let the Pogba circus overshadow everything, won't allow them to go into a season without a striker with any sort of record, without a left back, without a creative spark. I'd worry at this point that that is even Poch. Thought Liverpool absolutely bummed them yesterday for about 80 of the 90 minutes. Certainly for the hour after the goal, it was as one-sided a 1-0 as I've seen. Fred was really good though. Only player who didn't deserve to be on the losing side. He's out of his depth, when do caretaker managers ever go on to have great success in this country in the long run? It must have happened but nothing springs to mind. Kane won't happen, at this point it's a sidewards step at best. If they get Poch and qualify for Champions league then maybe but even then you'd see Kane wanting a more settled prestige club. If he'd come in and they were as crap as they have been pretty much all season, then nobody would have had any issue with waving him back to Molde and looking for a permanent appointment. As soon as he went on that run, they had no choice. They *could* have said to him "Well done, Ole! Now bugger off!" but you can guess how that would have gone down with fans, and how difficult it would have been for anyone coming in following a club legend who had a great run at the time they offered it him permanently. I know he had that decent run, but fuck me imagine being able to play football again after having to succumb to Jose for however long it was. There was always going to be a positive reaction. Ole was originally appointed until the end of the season, but they jumped the gun and offered him the permanent job by the end of March. They did have a choice not to appoint him, there was no reason to rush that deal through. Edit... DCW Posted January 20, 2020 Share Posted January 20, 2020 It's crazy for the money spent that even if utd do get Poch or someone decent, it'll still take a season or two of transfer windows to build up a squad with reasonable depth to comfortably challenge for the top 4, let alone the league.
