Bar the opening goal, Villa were woeful there, maybe 2 players looked like they could handle Premier League level. I'm not including Grealish there.

It's gonna be a long season in Birmingham.

I don’t think Villa were awful. But for a bit of composure, they would’ve been 2 up at the break.

I’m not being funny but what do you expect them to do when they go a goal up after 10 minutes? They’re clearly going to sit and defend deep. And they did that well against relentless Spurs pressure, right up until they clearly tired out. Grealish made a terrible mistake and then the third goal was inevitable against a team dead on their feet.

They’ll probably be fine this year.

I dunno, maybe it was adrenaline in the moment of being surrounded in a pub hy Villa fans, but for that final 30 minutes they looked so far off the pace it was scary. The defence really wasn't there and got shown up a lot.

Maybe it was first day jitters and being at Villa Park will help, but bar that goal and a clear chance for a second, they seemed out of it throughout.

I mean, they were playing the Audi Cup champions, what do you expect?

Well what a load of bollocks.

A player goes for a header using his arms naturally to gain leverage in the lift, the ball passes him and he's now no longer looking at it.

Another player heads the ball which hits the first players arm.

Even by the new rules I am failing to see how that is handball.

We were given assurances that ball to hand would not result in penalties this season in the Premier League, apparently that rule doesn't work the other way.

I am all for VAR, but subjectivity needs to be knocked on the head once and for all.

Wow, fair enough, it's still absolutely ridiculous and needs sorting out.

Ball to hand should never be handball, as the FA themselves have admitted in the case of defenders, shouldn't work differently in different circumstances.
