Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted May 29, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2019 Russo is a werewolf looking cunt. You dont want him anywhere near something that you want to attract an audience. If you are Kenny Omega, who is now openly in a relationship with a man, would you want your show to have a raving loony who slags gay people off on his podcast ("its not normal, bro!") Russo has had his chance. He's not going to change now. He's a fucking oddball.
d-d-d-dAz
I never knew that about Kenny Omega. I definitely like the way AEW is shaping up to be the wrestling you can watch without feeling morally questionable. I like to watch popcorn entertainment without feeling complicit in bigotry, rape and murder. Call me strange.

I checked the report on Bleacher Sunday morning and couldn't believe they gave the shitty battle royale an A rating. It all adds up now. Just ignoring him is never going to get him to change his opinion. Sometimes engaging with someone can work. Of course, other times it is a completely pointless exercise and the person will never change their views but I suppose you never truly know until you try.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted May 29, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2019 If you want to debate a homophobe do it via DM on twitter. Don't pay them to appear at a convention. Its not a good look.

Paid Members BomberPat Posted May 29, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2019 Russo is a lot of things. He's a homophobe, a racist, an idiot, and a sexist. But above all he's a bullshit artist. No sense rising to a word he says, and it's not an issue of "debating" him when he's fundamentally dishonest from the get-go.
The Dart
I really thought you were going for a Grandpa Simpson quote there. Anyone who gave that battle royal an A has automatically lost all credibility. It was such a bad match, but given its purpose was the promote the PPV, it was even worse. I wish there was a way of knowing how many people chose not to order the PPV after watching that. Ricc1PW
it was poor. I was always going to order the PPV, had I been waiting to see what the pre show was like before deciding whether to buy, I wouldn't have done so off the back of that show. Russo is NOT a porn star... I'd be surprised if many people watching the pre-show hadn't already ordered the PPV. Like others, I thought the Battle Royal was a mess both in terms of too many "spots" happening at the same time and production somehow managing to miss almost all of them. There was one point Joey Janella was suddenly walking around with a cigarette on his forehead, it was only a replay minutes later they showed Jimmy Havoc sticking it there with a staple gun. Whether you're a fan of that style or not, that should be a moment that happens in the middle of the ring, with all the focus on it.
LEGIT
I still don't understand why Tony Khan is going around saying AEW is going to be a "serious, sports based product" yet the show is chokka with comedy, ludicrous gimmicks, ridiculous spots and shitarse jobbers. Something in the middle would be nice. Is he just trying to dupe fans into thinking it's something that it's not? To be fair, I wouldn't like to see a "serious, sports based show." But it's odd to be claiming to be one when from what we have to go by it clearly isn't  Edited May 29, 2019 by LEGIT
Ricc1PW
I don't get people complaining it's not different, its not an alternative, its WWE lite etc. Â I mean, its wrestling - how different and original can a wrestling show be in this day and age? just give me good, logical stories, quality wrestling matches and half decent promos and you're on your way. I'm not really sure how different a wrestling show can present its self before it stops being wrestling.

WCW was an alternative to WWE in the 90s despite being the same at the core. Different wrestlers, sets, commentators, moves, levels or violence, camera work, production of the show are examples. AEW had differences is some ways, and not in others. It fell flat for me personally, but that wasn't really anything to do with how like/unlike WWE it was. Edited May 29, 2019 by LEGIT

For example, Lucha Underground is pretty far removed from WWE - one might almost be tempted to say it's closer to a martial arts series than a wrestling programme.
