Mike Quackenbush waxed lyrical about this on a podcast recently, about it being one of his favourite matches of all-time, and one of the moments that made him want to be a wrestler. I didn't have any particular memory of it, but watched it off the back of that. He described the start of it as "a baseball slide like nothing you've ever seen" and, yeah, he's not wrong. Far more impactful, and with far more urgency, than the sort of big flippy dive you'd likely see in that spot today, and perfectly accented by the low lighting and camera angle to look like it's wholly unexpected.
