Bad form from Cruickshank, but I don't think he should be sacked because of it. Being a dick shouldn't be reason to bin the guy. Maybe his Japanese sponsors could ditch him, as they obviously work with him based on his image and all that jazz.

anyone seen the news that Angela Magana is in a coma following surgery?

https://mmajunkie.com/2019/04/ex-ufc-fighter-angela-magana-coma-surgery-complications/amp?__twitter_impression=true

horrible news, Magana posted a video on twitter before the surgery saying she was afraid because her auntie had died due to a reaction to anaesthetic, 24 hours+ she's been under. I know Magana isnt everyone cup of tea but i dont think anyone would wish that on her.

Regarding Paulo Costa:

Quote

UFC middleweight Paulo Costa has been a subject of confusion for some time now. He was originally scheduled to face Yoel Romero in a main event fight this month, but was pulled from the bout due to an apparent run-in with USADA. Costa insisted that he never used PEDs and it would all be cleared up soon. Today, it was.

Costa has been suspended for six months by USADA for illegal IV usage, along with his brother Carlos Costa, and he has been fined by two different commissions. He accepted this suspension, and the anti-drug association stated that their sanctions were reduced “based on substantial assistance the Costas provided to USADA”. The suspension is retroactive to August 10th, 2018, which makes him eligible to fight now.

Here are a couple of paragraphs from USADA’s release that explain the situation: “Based on video and other corroborating evidence, USADA determined that on June 2, 2017, Paulo Costa, 27, received an intravenous infusion (IV) of permitted substances, including saline solution and a stomach medication, of more than 100 mL per 12-hour period after weigh-in for UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, without a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). On November 3, 2017, Paulo Costa again received an IV infusion of permitted substances of more than 100 mL per 12-hour period after weigh-in for UFC 217 in New York City, New York, without a TUE. Both infusions were administered by Carlos Costa.”

And here’s the explanation of the fines: “Paulo Costa’s use of a prohibited method on June 2, 2017 also falls under the jurisdiction of the Comissão Atlética Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA), which has recognized USADA’s sanction and will additionally fine Paulo $4,000 (1/3 of the UFC 212 purse), all of which will revert to his opponent in UFC 212. In addition, the New York State Athletic Commission has resolved Paulo Costa’s case arising from the November 3, 2017, IV with no period of ineligibility and a $9,333.33 fine (1/3 of the UFC 217 purse). Neither Commission will impose any additional sanction on Carlos Costa.”

Costa (12-0, 4-0 UFC) is an emerging contender at 185 pounds. His last fight was a TKO win over Uriah Hall in July 2018. He was unhappy that Romero (sort of) leveled PED accusations at him, and promises to get revenge for making things personal.

Brock vs DC isn't happening.

Miocic will probably get his rematch after all.

Quote

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has apparently already fought for the last time in his mixed martial arts career. Since last July, Lesnar has been expected to resume his fighting career with a heavyweight title shot against Daniel Cormier. While no deal was struck to make the fight official, UFC president  said repeatedly that he was going to do everything possible to make it happen. Now that plan is dead in the water because Lesnar isn’t planning to fight again. “[Brock Lesnar] told me he’s done, he’s retired,” White told ESPN on Tuesday after speaking to Lesnar. “We’re going to move in another direction with Cormier.”

Lesnar hasn’t competed since 2016 when he returned at UFC 200 and defeated Mark Hunt on the historic card. The victory was later overturned to a no contest when Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance that ended with a one-year suspension from the sport. Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier UFC 226 Ceremonial Weigh-in. Lesnar opted to retire instead and his focus remained on World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) where he was one of the company’s top performers. In recent months, as Lesnar’s deal with WWE was coming to an end, the expectation was that he would return to the UFC for the matchup against Cormier, but it seems he ultimately decided against fighting again.

With Lesnar out of the picture, the UFC is now shifting plans towards a rematch between Cormier and former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Cormier defeated Miocic by first round knockout in their last meeting to win the heavyweight title. Prior to that loss, Miocic had defended the heavyweight title more than any other fighter in UFC history and he has been pushing for a rematch ever since. Now it looks like Miocic will get his wish to face Cormier a second time with an opportunity to take back the UFC heavyweight title. There’s still no word on when the rematch could take place, although it was rumoured that Cormier could return by UFC 241 in August after healing up from a nagging back injury that has plagued him since his last bout in November 2018.

DC was on Helwani's show last night and said he's yet to sign the bout agreement, but it's happening soon.

DC also said, now that Brock can't be doing with it, he wants another Jones fight at LHW. DC said it's because he wants that LHW win against him, but I also think he knows Jones has a good chance of beating him at HW and, as such, that puts another dent in his legacy as "best HW ever".
