Sounds terrible. Becky should have gave them all stunners, drank beers and then beat up her boyfriend.

That's the only possible outcome that would be consistent with her character. If only they still knew how to promote wrestling, she'd do this on every Raw and SmackDown until the end of time.

That crutch beatdown was genuinely uncomfortable to watch. Charlotte Flair looked fucking distraught.

I appreciate them trying to get heat back on Becky, but the injury story and Charlotte’s existence is so needless that I still feel quite cool on the whole story. These unforced, overcomplicated detours WWE take (when they could just travel the simplest route from A to B) are so deflating.

Struggled to get into Kofi/Bryan only because it seemed obvious they weren’t going to put the belt on Kofi.

I thought, in a vacuum, the angle was pretty well executed. Made Becky look like a fucking lunatic.

Whether it was deliberate or not, Ronda grabbing the other crutch and trying to block the shots really sold the violence of it. RONDA ROUSEY WAS FUCKING HIDING. Also, Charlotte was screaming like a victim from Saw, and belted a decent sized ‘FUCCCKKKK’ down the camera.

It was a brutal angle, and I think it’s going to (re)heat Becky, erasing a bit of the damage from the apology.

But, in context, the storyline is an unnecessary mess. Also, really, should anyone have to take that sort of damage for a scripted entertainment show?

The angle had violence and an air of unpredictability, as Ronda's head showed (I think she turned the wrong way and caught one on the ear). But in the grand scheme, it was wasted. One thing did jump out...how much work has Charlotte had done? At times she resembled Jocelyn Wildenstein.

I get they're trying to keep Becky hot, but this feels forced.

Back to the show...yet again 205 produce perhaps the match of the night, tucked away on the pre-show.

Everything else felt telegraphed. Kofi coming up short, Miz announced a new child, loses the belts cos Shane's in a heap. Bayley and Sasha "overcome the odds". Braun gets triple teamed.

Just...wake me up for Mania

Suspended Becky slowly wanders in on crutches. No one stops her.

Suspended Becky batters Charlotte. No one stops her.

Suspended Becky batters Ronda. Oh better get out there guys.

I admit that I'm a miserable old prick though. And no longer the kind of fan WWE gives a shit about, nor should they really.

This is what took me out of it too. She's suspended, not supposed to be in the building, but they'll leisurely film her hobbling to ringside, climbing in the ring, posing dramatically, having a Mexican stand-off, and then finally only get involved when she starts actively attacking people? It's that sort of detail that stops it feeling organic and believable, and makes it feel like an over-produced WWE skit.

When Austin was first doing his (eventually done to death) "gets back in the building after being kicked out" routine, he was always rushed by security and had to fight his way through them, it always felt rushed and urgent. WWE these days completely lacks that sense of urgency and spontaneity, and I increasingly think wrestling needs to feel a little frantic and rough around the edges to work. Becky looked great, but it did nothing for the angle.

Earlier in the day I'd watched November to Remember '98, which starts with Terry Funk doing the whole "not supposed to be here" routine - the crowd notice him first, and the cameras struggle to find him stumbling through the audience. During the first match he wanders out and makes a nuisance of himself, Joey Styles gets frustrated at production for showing him when there's a match going on in the ring, asks why they're filming him, and so on. It makes it feel like a genuine interruption by this nutter, not an angle where everyone's waiting on their cue.

It also pretty much guaranteed we're getting a Triple Threat at Wrestlemania, which is fine, but not what I particularly want. It'll be less heated than a straight Lynch/Rousey match, for sure. The better option would be to have Charlotte fight for (and win) the Smackdown Women's Title, so 'Mania can close with all the Four Horsewomen holding championships.

I stopped watching pretty much straight after that match, though. I was really hyped for Ruby Riott to have the chance at a showcase match, and they gave her fuck all. Completely needless.

A show which perfectly encapsulated why there is no wrestling company more frustrating to watch than WWE. Another example of them showcasing how easy and simple it can be to make a star by having Kofi Kingston viably be seconds away from winning the WWE Championship by how they showcase him within two matches - whilst at the same time demonstrating how carelessly they can turn something great into horseshit by having Strowman go out on his back against Corbin. I’m not arsed about how much you want to “protect him” through interference, Braun is 6’8, has a fantastic look, is a convincing talker, can go in the ring and by all accounts is a swell guy out of the ring. He’s everything you want your top guy to be and yet he’s stuck in the midcard losing to the worst bastard in the entire company. Remember how hot he was against Brock? Or Roman? They’ve absolutely fucked him over.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed the women's tag elimination chamber match the most, by some distance. On the other extreme, however, poor Ruby. One of the few women who could really go with Ronda, and she was offered not a thing.

I hated the Becky angle; seeing her flail to the ring as if she'd never seen a pair of crutches in her life, and then what followed, with two possible Wrestlemania main eventers putting up zero defense, was sad and lackluster. Please, WWE, do better.

Women's Chamber - Tremendous. The right team won and Mandy Rose is going to be a fucking superstar. She's probably the most underrated woman on the roster. She looks good and she's crisp as fuck in her movements, light-years ahead of other female mainstays.

Men's Chamber - Whilst not as action-packed as the women's edition, this still packed a mighty punch and the closing Bryan/Kofi segement was incredible. The post-match was great too and brought a tear to my eye as Kofi had his time in the spotlight. I still remember an interview with Xavier Woods, where he said his one goal in WWE was to make Kofi Kingston the WWE Champion. For a small moment on a Monday morning, I actually believed it might happen. Unreal.

Stick me with in the camp who are a bit miffed by the Becky/Charlotte/Ronda angle. Not for the same reasons as the rest of you though. I thought it was booked great, and Becky looked good on the way out.

My issue was the crutch shots; remember when a single strike to the back was enough to put someone down? This used to be a devastating weapon, but here's Becky Lynch swinging one wildly at Charlotte and Ronda, who are both wailing and flailing about the gaff like they're the recipient of a towel being whipped at them.

The end result was brutal in it's result but shit in it's execution. The whole attack felt naff and dull. Imagine how much more effective it would've been if Becky walloped a single crutch shot across Charlotte's back or leg. She sells it like death because crutch shots used to be up there with piledrivers and low blows as big finishes. She then does the same to Ronda. WHAM! She collapses like a sack of bricks, as the security run out to stop any further assault and she's escorted out like she was.

That would've sold the angle so much better and Charlotte and Ronda wouldn't be battered from a couple dozen shitty looking strikes with a stick.

It was neither one nor t'other - Charlotte and Ronda weren't floored by a single strike, but nor did they bother to fight back in any real sense, so them not being knocked out by it made them look like idiots for not defending themselves more than bad-asses for withstanding the punishment. At least Charlotte was being a decent heel and cowering, but neither of them came out looking like Wrestlemania main eventers.

I know they're queasy about blood, especially when it comes to the women, but not even focusing on Ronda being cut downplayed the brutality of it all, too. And why book something that risky if you're not going to play it up?

Any chance the crutch shot only taking one in the old days is that it was being done by someone with like 70-100lbs of extra weight behind the shot and usually breaking the thing in two over someone?

They absolutely should be portraying the women as tough, but outside Tamina and Nia I wouldn't believe one swing would do enough damage, so why not present it as just inflicting as much damage as possible when in this WWE days most weapons won't keep you down for long because everyone is being portrayed as tougher and stronger than previous generations?
