Paid Members air_raid Posted February 18, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted February 18, 2019 My prevailing memory of Platty when watching as a kid is that he became as reliable as Lineker for turning up with a goal after Lineker retired from internationals even though he was "only" a midfielder, since Taylor was never able to pick a team for 2-3 games without someone getting injured and he never had a striker he relied on - Shearer got injured half way through the USA campaign, he never seemed to fancy Wrighty, big Les wasn't quite up to it at that level. Platty scored the goals more often than not. Even played a part in Euro 96 when he was marginally past his peak. Top man.
