I don't particularly want to be the grump here, but any chance the betting discussion goes in spoiler tags? The closer it gets to the event, and the odds adjust, the prices almost always act as spoilers.

Agreed. Betting odds can get in the bin. Once you get close to the show they become actual spoilers, so I'd much rather discuss and read about the show without having it ruined. The odds completely ruined Orton's win a few yesrs back. Destroyed the drama.

I wonder if Sami and/or KO make a return?

Does anyone think Camella or R-Truth will actually enter as number thirty?

I feel like Drew could go on a good run, eliminate a fair amount, only to be eliminated by Kurt Angle leading to a match at Mania.

Velveteen doesn't have a match at Takeover, does he? Hmm.

I fucking love The Rumble.

Anyone called Becky - The man is going to win the mens rumble by assualiting R-Truth and taking his spot after Rousey screws her over in the Womens title match just so she can challenge her at Mania

I really like this idea. I could see Truth trying to enter the women’s rumble, freeing up a spot in the men’s. Have the women’s rumble open the show and have Becky’s win close it. Alternatively, they could do this with Ronda, should she lose her title, and Becky win against Asuka.

You’d have every reason to watch the next two PPVs if the WWE/Universal title challengers were TBD, so it makes sense from that viewpoint too.

Agreed on the betting odds, it’s effectively posting spoilers.

I've been guessing that R-Truth would book their holiday the same day as the Rumble, making them unable to make it, and maybe have some comedy skits through the show of them trying to get to the venue in time, but I don't know if they've done anything with the "they won a holiday" angle yet already.

Absolutely. I'm pretty sure there's a rule against discussing betting odds in the Rumble thread, and they are promptly directed to Wooly's thread instead.

They've already done their "holiday" skits, but I think they were shown exclusively on WWE.com. Pretty sure it just involved them going to the WWE headquarters and doing dance breaks with the office staff.

Wasn't going to bother this year as I'm struggling to find new ways to make it interesting but just for information, I've updated the rumble stats. Greatest Rumble and Women's not included.

Great post as always. One point for debate

LONGEST TIME SPENT IN RUMBLES
-------------------------
Chris Jericho (296 mins)
Triple H (240 mins)
Shawn Michaels (222 mins)
Rey Mysterio (202 mins)
Kane (189 mins)
Randy Orton (181 mins)

Jericho looking safe at the top but do you think Orton will eventually over take him. Can see Jericho getting a couple more rumbles in but Orton must be a lock for another 5-7 to come

Mysterio could possibly overtake Shawn and HHH, as I could see him having a reasonably lengthy entry this year. He could even overtake Jericho, should his body hold up over the next year or two.

Thank goodness @tiger_rick, January's just not the same without your Rumble stats.

Edit: Reading through it now. Interesting to see 2018 is the lightest Rumble ever, by quite some distance. Land of the giants no longer!

Double edit: Just run through this year's entrants (filling in the gaps with likely suspects) on a randomiser. I'm predicting Rollins to win the men's Rumble from number 22 (final four him, McIntyre, Joe and Cena), and a Charlotte-Becky 1994-style double win on the women's Rumble (Charlotte from number 1, Becky from 24).
