That trend continued (Ellsworth being in the cage for Asuka vs Carmella at Extreme Rules is the only one that springs to mind, there could be more) but began in 2016, with Ellering in the "Crash Cage" for the Dusty Classic final, fulfilling the promise on the toy box that the playset would come to life on an NXT Takeover. Jericho went in the cage for an Owens title defence shortly after that, then Enzo went in at SummerSlam in 2017. No comment on Enzo & Ellsworth needing to be locked up. WyattSheepMask
Currently listening to the latest Royal Grumble Podcast, I’d completely forgotten that Chris Jericho wrestled in New Japan for the first time in 20+ years against Kenny Omega. And a few months later won an IWGP title
Joe Blog
Seemingly every heel in WWE learnt that AJ Styles has glass knackers.
Paid Members BomberPat Posted December 13, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted December 13, 2018 The most defining moment of WWE was the sumo lad in the Greatest Royal Rumble. A bought show promoted as the biggest thing since sliced bread, booked entirely to indulge the Saudis rather than the fans watching, which immediately afterwards meant the sum of fuck all, and the Rumble match itself featured an appearance by a sumo wrestler that nobody watching had heard of, who was never referenced again, and who Michael Cole was tasked as convincing us was important. It was WWE getting "show don't tell" wrong in typical fashion, and sums up all of their problems in 2018 to me.
Drfunke
ALOT of fans stopped watching, me included...while things happened, ultimately NOTHING of note has happened. They forgot totally how to tell any stories and this is highlighted mainly in the way so many potentially big things happened that meant nothing.. Daniel Bryan coming back... HBK coming back... Cena v Taker @mania .... All totally wasted

Owen didn't try and intentionally hurt Steve; it was clearly an unfortunate botch of a pretty dangerous move. Hell, Steve himself did the same thing to Masahiro Chono with the same move five years earlier. Look at the clip of Nia whacking Becky; it's reckless at best, purposeful at worse. Look at the hip movement and the way she follows through. She should be carted off back to school. However, there isn't any denial that the effects of both those incidents played a big part in getting the victim's popularity to greater heights. According to Austin, who doesn’t have a reputation of being a Hogan-esque liar: When they were laying out the match, Austin asked how Owen was hitting the piledriver, to which Owen said he was bumping on his backside. Austin asked him specifically not to, and to bump on his knees instead, so that Austin could position himself correctly, perhaps as a result of the incident with Chono. Owen bumped on his backside after specifically being asked not to You can call Nia reckless, and maybe she was, and I doubt that Owen did intentionally injure Austin, but if he ignores what he was asked by Austin, that makes him reckless too (on that night)
theringmaster
Further more to Austin and Owen, they never made up after.Austin has said he didn't want to do the tribute at the end of Raw is Owen because he said 'It didn't feel right' considering they never got along but Vince told him it was his duty to do it, Bret would later thank Austin for doing it.
