He’s challenging Okada as part of the main event at Dominion merely weeks later, I really doubt New Japan are going to have him going into that coming off a defeat. He can get his heat back easily at the Best Of Super Junior Final with an Okada beat down

Nice atmosphere in the MGM Grand today- lots of fans inside drinking and gambling because it's raining outside.
MPDTT
I can't see Jericho going over.....if be shocked if they went for the screwy finish to their first show and I don't think Jericho wins clean. Edited May 22, 2019 by MPDTT
Guest
New japan ( officially) have no day in aew at present bar the agreement in some talents contract that they can work for them. Doubt they have any power over booking plans the way they might with say ROH

Omega needed the win more in a kayfabe sense at Wrestle Kingdom 12 and Jericho put him over, I can't see any reason as to why the reverse won't happen here. Whilst I'd then argue it doesn't make sense to have your biggest name in Kenny lose to the ex-WWE guy in Jericho for your very first show, unless NJPW want to bring Kenny in for the G1 or something I can't see them building Jericho for Okada without him having a big win under his belt. UK Kat Von D
I reckon Omega will win it because having him and Jericho go one for one is too similar to WWE’s main problem of 50/50 booking. If this show is to set the tempo they should do whatever they can to be different.

Factotum
Omega has to win surely? If they're going to build this company, he has to be THE guy. Nobody wants to see fat Jericho as the face.
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted May 23, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 23, 2019 Imagine getting hold of the biggest unsigned name in the game and debuting him as a surprise under a mask. That's something TNA would do.

Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted May 23, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 23, 2019 After watching that Before The Bell show, I'm actually well looking forwards to this now. I haven't watched any WWE since Mania weekend just as I had wrestling burnout, and the whole Ashley Massaro situation has left a bad taste in my mouth regarding going back to that company. So this show has come along at the perfect time for me. One thing I hope they nail on this debut show that I didn't get from All In is clearly defined faces and heels. The vast majority of All In matches fell flat for me because, as somebody who doesn't follow the indies or Being The Elite, I had no idea who were the faces or heels and the commentary on that show didn't make it clear either. Hopefully this doesn't fall into the trap of assuming it's audience knows all this shit already.

They've actually set up a perfect opportunity for a surprise debut with the set-up for the Casino Battle Royale - the mask/reveal would be overkill. Basically, there are 21 entrants. 5 start, then every 5 minutes, another 5 join. Then, 5 minutes after that, the 21st 'joker card' entry gets to enter. If they're going to do a big reveal, that's the place to do it. Fantasy booking for either Mox or Punk to come out there, as a last minute way to get buys for the PPV, would be a lot of fun. Guest
They did the masked thing at all in, this has to be a big name to a big pop and gets your last min buys in to see what happens on the show

With the Omega vs Jericho also being a number one contender match for their main championship, you're guaranteed a face-off during the PPV.
