The EU makes bonehead mistakes = Brexit’s going swimmingly. Got it.

I bet the EU have spent less on Track and Trace apps and fake PPE contracts combined than we have as well. I don't even understand the point he is trying to make.

The EU have ballsed up the vaccine roll out from claiming it didnt work to claiming it will give you a blood clot and kill you. Lucky for us we managed to do our own deals on said vaccine.

However to claim brexit as a huge success is very premature. Give it a few years with stuff back to normal and then see how things are doing.

I can see this being a line that gets trotted out year after year

I started a new job just before Christmas. One of my first tasks was to identify & select a bunch of European vendors and suppliers to replace the existing UK based ones.

The cost of doing business has increased dramatically & this is the easiest fix. Big companies that have a UK and EU presence have been asked what processes they have/can put in place to bypass the UK.

This is tens of £m's worth of business and just 1 company. I was on a post Brexit ' customs webinar' just a couple of weeks ago (lucky me right?) & this was a common theme. Big companies who you'd have thought would've planned for this doing exactly the same thing. Desperately trying to avoid using UK biz for EU fulfilment & find Euro alternatives.

It's a shit show. I dread to think how many 'zombie' UK firms are currently being propped up by the furlough scheme?

Nothing we've done in our vaccine rollout couldn't have been done from within the EU.

The shambolic EU vaccine rollout has still given more jabs because 10% of 450 million is bigger than 50% of 70 million.

Covid was a blessing for Brexit as so much has been masked.  (Pun not intentional)

Could and did.  We were still governed by the EU rules when we both approved and ordered the vaccines.

We could have, by the letter of the law. But Brexit undoubtedly made it politically easier to do so.

I'm not a Brexiteer whatsoever but it does seem to have provided us with some extra agility in this case.

Was that the EU or was it individual member states saying that? The EU was in charge of procurement of the vaccine but it was member states who decided against using them.

Yes I voted out, but I didn’t realise it would come to this.

"My application has been rejected and we are on our way home – my wife is in tears, she’s distraught if I’m honest and I’m not too happy at the prospect of returning back to the UK.

“I’ve loved living on the Costa del Sol and after five years can’t believe it has come to this.

"We applied but got rejected and so have no choice, although long term I think the Spanish will regret chucking us out of Spain.”

It can cause blood clots and potentially kill though, or was my Mother's ambulance ride imaginary?

I hope your mum is ok.

Linking the vaccine to blood clots isn't straightforward though. Less than 100 reported cases in 5 million doses is nowhere near the odds on getting a blood clot in a normal year which is about 1 in a thousand.

I'm sure there will be side effects that come to light in time but the realistic answer is that they don't know what they all are yet.
