It was as expected. No one assumed anything of note would come from this. However, it does leave the door open to a final, FINAL, final match between Taker and HBK.

We hosted the PPV at Aspers casino in Newcastle and the atmosphere was grand. Not massively busy, but still a really canny turn out considering the time.

If you popped out, cheers and see you on November 2nd for Crown Jewel

AJ and Joe had a great match, and the 205 match is possibly my match of the night (day?)

As I expected the HHH/Taker affair turned into a "let's cover for the fact they're blown up", nice to see a proper Chioda bump. Did I see it right when HHH went over the barrier he landed awkward on one of those patio chairs? Think they may be building to HBK/Taker at Mania?

Think they'll be blowing their load on that far sooner than Mania. I can see a tag at Crown Jewel, HBK v Taker at either Survivor Series or Rumble and then both in different programs for Mania.

Buddy Murphy vs Cedric Alexander was great. Match of the night. AJ vs Joe was also very good. Shield match was alright but the heat segment on Seth lasted way too long.

Triple H vs Undertaker was embarrassing. Far too long and Taker looked like he was ready to drop dead at points. Doesn’t fill me with hope for a good or even half decent match with Shawn Michaels if that’s the route they’re eventually going.

Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker is not a Survivor Series or Royal Rumble match.

Is it a Wrestlemania match any more though? I think all involved know they cant deliver anything like they did previously. Just my thinking, but i think theyre using the program with Taker to give Michaels reason to get back in the ring and then let him work with someone at Mania who can help him deliver.

After the main event I thought "HBK v Taker in an unsanctioned match at Crown Jewel", or something similar. I'm not confident they can drag it all out until next spring, don't think HBK should be coming back for a "proper" one-off big match, and so figure (as some have already said) he's being paid an absolute shit-load for a kind-of-match in Saudi Arabia.

I’d agree but they did Lesnar/Goldberg at Survivor Series

Because they were going again at Mania. Taker and Shawn's last match against each other with the retirement backstory and a proper build (today, inevitable tag) takes place nowhere but Mania with Mania level hype job all over the TV.

As cynical as we could be about "End Of An Era" and Rock/Cena "Once In A Lifetime" I doubt they'd have pushed "last time ever" and have Cole uttering the gibberish he did about it being over at the end if they were going again IMMEDIATELY after. It's the tag match at Crown Jewel. It's probably Saudi money stumped up for Shawn that's making him finally lace them back up, isn't it?

I felt the crowd weren't that responsive to taker v HHH, when taker had the game in the hells gate and the game grabbed his sledgehammer to throttle taker the crowd barely seemed botherd. Hells gate used to finish everyone off so when the game gets out of it in such an innovative way why no reaction from the crowd? I would have expected a more rowdy crowd with it being in oz and especially given the magnitude of the event.

SD Tag titles - Decent opener to get the crowd hyped. All good.

Women’s title - Daft finish but another good match in the series between them.

Cena/Lashley vs Owens/Elias - Absolutely fucking horrible. They botched a fucking leapfrog spot, which is fucking ridiculous, and that new finisher can just fuck the fuck off, as can the shit attempt at a soppy promo afterwards. Straight in the bin. Offesively horrendous.

Iiconis vs Askua/Naomi - Harmless fun. I like the Iiconics as an act, and Peyton Royce is my future wife. Cool visual for Naomi/Asuka’s entrance.

AJ/Joe - Cracker. Joe’s been superb during this feud so I hope it isn’t the last time we see him in the WWE title picture. AJ also needed a decisive win, so more power to them for booking that.

Rousey/Bellas vs Riot Squad - Again, perfectly fine. Riot Squad are really growing on me. Great hot tag and finish from Ronda. Some good seeds sewn between Nikki/Ronda too.

CW title - Match of the night. Excellent cruiserweight showcase and a memorable moment for Buddy Murphy. Pleased they didn’t try and heel him up beforehand and let him organically wrestle babyface in front of the home town faithful. Cole calling this match actually made it feel more important than if they went with the 205 Live team.

Shield/Dogs of War - Picked up down the stretch, fun tease with Ambrose. Thought Brawn looked more like a monster than he has in recent weeks. Decent without being incredible.

Miz/Bryan - Clearly rushed for time reasons. I wouldn’t mind the ending so much if it wasn’t so confusing - it came across as more of a botch than an actual finish. It does open the door for Miz to slot himself into the title picture as well despite the loss, and Joe might be thrown in for another shot to make the Crown Jewel PPV a four-way.

HHH/Undertaker - I didn’t mind this. Pace was never going to be frenetic or quick and there were some good parts. Post-match was interesting, and I guess this now opens the door for the big Shawn comeback.

Overall the only massive shitfest on the show was the Cena/Lashley vs Owens/Elias tag and the Miz/Bryan finish - everything was ok and the CW title and WWE title matches were great. Thumbs up.
