So after being told repeatedly that Vegan discussion should only be allowed in a special Vegan Food thread I decided to make one. Obviously if you post anything other than photos of awesome Vegan food or positive responses to Vegan food you will be breaking the rulez.

Here is a random collection of my favourite things to eat in no particular order. Posted as links so I don’t take up loads of room.

I eat out or order in pretty much every day. My usual day to day eating is 3threes coffee shop, NotDogs and Freshh. Whenever I’m travelling I use an app called HappyCow to find the best local restaurants. This weekend I’m in London so will be heading straight to Temple Of Seitan

I'm guessing you've eaten at The Vegan Grindhouse before? They've set up shop in my local brewery on the weekends and it's going to rinse me dry every Saturday. We've also got a great little locally sourced vegan cafe called The Pod which is run in conjunction with the council and all main meals are ÂŁ3, I'll grab a couple of pics when I head down tomorrow.

Some delicious-looking stuff there! Those burgers and chips look particularly tasty - what're the burgers made of? I'm not one to say "get thee behind me, seitan".

Manchester is great for vegan food. The unicorn co operative grocer near me has loads of produce. On Saturdays they have a not dog pan on the go. Delicious!  Cheers for the app recommendation as well.

Friday night I was at Vrevs in Manchester which might be one of my favourite places ever! Was only £45 for two mains, four sides and drinks for me and a lass. Can’t argue with that

It’s been on my to do list but haven’t got round to Grindhouse yet. I’ll bump it up in my priorities though.

Is your veganism a health thing or more to do with animals?

All for the animals, never really had any regard for my own health but I can see a difference in that area. I’m gonna be 30 next month and I feel better now than when I was 21. As mentioned in the chippy thread it’s been a big part of me being able to focus my brain on less negative things, so It has been brilliant for my mental health

My work canteen has been ruined with vegan meat substitutes. They used to have some really good vegetarian options, and now it's all tempeh this and seitan that. What's wrong with vegetables?

It’s a lot easier for some people to transition and try vegan options when it resembles what they used to eat. It’s also more exciting trying different places takes on stuff. It can be shit, but when it’s good it’s fucking great

I couldn't have just vegetables for every single meal if I was vegan. Whilst I'm not likely to become one any time soon, I do appreciate a good vegan meal every now and then; Quorn chicken nuggets are actually really good, and I quite like seitan. Don't think I've ever had tempeh, though. I like mushroom burgers too - not the big portobello thing (although those can be done well), but the minced mushroom balled up into a patty.

I went vegetarian for about a year, but I switched back to meat about 8 months ago.

I don't eat any old rubbish though, I tend to stick to chicken primarily, and have a steak about once a month or so, so it's not as though I started rocking up at McDonald's or suchlike.

Still enjoy the odd vegetarian meal mind you, a lot of the stuff you mention C-Bomb, such as the Quorn steaks and chicken nuggets. The chicken nuggets are fantastic.

Yeah, there is a lot more variety for vegan and vegetarian still now.  Those quorn nuggets are well skill.  Speaking of well skill, here is a recipe for a vegan risotto.

Most Quorn isn't vegan, they put milk and/or egg in so much of their stuff. You'd think they'd have changed that with veganism becoming much more mainstream.

I think it’ll be a shame if they get left behind in favour of stuff like Iceland’s new Vegan line because they seem to be missing the boat a bit capitalising on Veganism’s growing popularity. They should already have gone full pelt, but like mentioned it is more expensive and harder to come by.

The quorn vegan chicken slices are bang on though
