I'm not into this early night nonsense, I'm still a man child who stays up til 3am every night smoking weed and watching cartoons. However I can barely drink now, it's terrible, I used to be able to drink so much booze all the time and not feel a thing the next day, now if I drink half a bottle of wine I'll feel suicidal for about 3 days.

Also young people are awful now, I'm a manager at a coolish entertainment type place and I hire a good cross section of young people but I have yet to meet one who shows the slightest bit of interest or initiative for anything. It's weird, when I was in their position I was writing everything down and going out of my way to be useful but they just don't care.

I've had another one of those "I'm old" moments as I didn't understand the gist of this comment. I re-read it quite a few times thinking to myself, "His son's GF put G-Easy in the car? Is his son G-Easy? Was there a big poster outside the venue? What??".

It was only when Dead Mike commented on it that it hit me; my haggard brain had been skipping words, hence I was reading it as "His girlfriend put him in the car". Fucking hell.

I did the exact same thing, had to reread it four or five times before I spotted the ‘on’.

Speaking of music, that’s another one for me. I know I’m old because my music tastes have completely stagnated. I have what I like and that’s that. I remember that thrill of discovering a new band, or playing a new album over and over again - I just don’t do that anymore, I am become my father.

I'm 27 and hope to fuck I'm not the youngest one writing in here about their old man habit's.

Like HG above, I have music I like and that's bloody well it. Everything else gets referred to as noise. I even go around my wards on my daily checks changing the radios over in my areas if I don't like the channel they have picked. Which is any channel that isn't U105.8

I've been going bald from around the time I was 15. I've had a fully shaven head from my late teens, and if I grew out the little bit that's still on the top of the dome, it would amount to less hair than is on my shoulders.

I get up every work morning at 4.45. However I wake at least once, any time between 12.30 and 3, to either pee or just lie awake wondering why the fuck I'm awake when I'm exhausted. Then I fall asleep sitting upright in a chair at any point during the day or evening. Said chair could also be a stool, with no backrest, that I'm quite likely to topple out of in a heap.

I choose my cars primarily on them being under 1000 quid, being comfortable, that they get good miles to the gallon, and have good space inside the car and the boot.

I haven't the faintest interest in Marvel films and won't entertain watching one.

I refuse to buy new clothes 'because the ones I have still fit and haven't worn out yet'. The response is usually "but you've had those jeans for 12 years", to which I'll reply "yeah but they're comfortable". Hence, I don't think I have anything in my wardrobe (that is newer than the last 7/8 years) that was bought by me, rather than a family member getting me something as a gift.

I fucking dread Christmas, and the missus's loves it. She can't wait for it and I can't wait every year until it's over.

I think I’m old, because I don’t understand why kids now have phone calls by putting it on speaker and holding their phone out whilst walking down the street, so every one can hear the conversation. They’ll then be going, “What? Say that again. I can’t hear you” every two seconds. Hold the phone to your ear then, you pleb!

Honestly, this is so true. I've worked in high schools for about the past 14 years, and the past two or three years I can only think of about 9 decent kids that I hold hope will go on to be decent productive adults. Far too many of the rest of them are a bunch of cunts - especially this last year or so. I have 315 kids in my charge each year so I see a decent cross section of the population and honestly, just cunts. I've never wanted to be less associated with young people than right now, it almost makes me glad that I'm an old fart.

27 calling.

-I find it weird that people will pay a tenner for two coffees without batting an eyelid, but won't pay a few quid for an album that could change their life.

-Albums don't change peoples lives anymore. At least in my old head. There's nothing wrong with pop music, I listen to mindless trance for fuck sake, but it's the bands that suck these days. Bands are meant to want to take over the world. They spawn big mutated followings that inform fashion and trends. Everything's too fragmented for that now, though. Stuff like The Killers seems to be just utility music you put on because you've gotta power through a jog or it's your official fun time Friday night.

-In response to this hip hop's become the new Rock n' Roll, in terms of personalities. But as this is the old timey thread... I don't really get most of those guys, either. When Britpop bands went on about how class they were it was kind of suburban and charming in comparison to the way some of these lads carry on. Hip-Hop blows live on the big stage still, as well. You'll feign an interest in how whatshisface is doing as a headliner, but deep down you'd rather the Prodigy were on so you could pogo around like a lunatic.

-I can't drink without feeling rotten in the head for days afterwards. Even small amounts seem to just taint me in my neurotic little mind now.

-I seek out crap pollen and grass on purpose, when I can, because weed scares me now.

-Gaming seems overly bloated and involved now. I know there's plenty of great indie games I can pick up and play but since this is a mopey thread, no subculture has become as annoying since it's got a whiff of its own perceived importance.

-No clubbing. No pubs. I struggle to truly feel involved with most people I work with, even though they're a decent bunch.

I'd been doing a presentation project with my summer students a few weeks ago. They were all using computers and I realised they're having a fucking hard time with a keyboard and mouse. About the same diffuculty in reverse I have with a large touch screen device. It was buzzard to watch but realise they're training their hands to work with different equipment and what I use will eventually be obsolete. It was also reassuring to know in 30 years their kids will have something for them to struggle with.

I didn't even know who G Eazy was and that always makes me feel old if I don't know of a well known musical act but then that's been happening since about 22.

I'm going through a second puberty. I am starting to grow hair where there wasn't any before. Namely my nose is sprouting dark strand of hair that go down into my moustache. I have got annoying patches of hair on my back. One is in between my shoulder blades with another one that is climbing it's way up my lower back. That looks like it's growing up from my arse cheeks. Also my meat and 2 veg are getting hairier with over a  third of my shaft now covered in hair. Whereas before it was just my balls and mons pubis.

I'll stick these two in my "I'm old as fuck" box. I've owned to cars and both have been almost 20 years old. My current car is a 1999 Toyota Corrolla and I bloody love it. Proper old geezer's car that I can get fixed either for free or at a right cheap price. It's an automatic and you can still feel it shift gears; modern auto's are smoother and quieter so you won't really notice which is a bummer. Who wants to drive a hairdryer?

I rarely buy clothes too. I've got a lot of the same t-shirts that I can be seen wearing in photographs when I was 18. That's partly due to how I almost always rock the tshirt/button shirt combo so any design is always hidden. I only buy to replace nowadays; ripped jeans? Buy a new pair. Jeans sale? I'd rather spend the cash on absolutely anything else. All my new clothes come as gifts from birthdays and Christmas.

I'm happy that I'm not getting phased by music though. Brilliant, life changing music is still out there, it just doesn't hit the charts anymore. As another user pointed out, the music fan base is so fragmented these days that we're never again going to have that big band that smashes the status quo and changes everything.

With regards to clothes, I end up buying B stock stuff of the internet which has the tag crudely torn off. I say to people, well it cost a third of the price. I fucking hate sales though, my misses will drag me round Monsoon and me like every other guy in there has a face like a slapped arse on. Strangely I do pay full whack for football shirts.

Young people, I work with a fair few young people and they seem so self entitled. I know I was to an extent, but young people I worked with 3 years ago compared to young people now. A girl in my office is like a petulant child. Her uncle got her the job so I'm not sure she realises the idea of working for things and there are plenty others like her where relatives game them jobs. I had to interview for all my jobs in my industry.

Music, I used to chat all day about going to gigs and a new album came out, often who you socialised with depended on who you listened to. Music was a big culture in my youth, especially rock. I actually love pop music, but only really 80s stuff like Erasure, Human League and Bananarama, so I'm not against it but it sounds so samey these days. Also when I was young we all though acoustic guitars are for old gits who can't handle the power. It seems electric guitars are for old gits these days.

Going out these days is usually going for dinner which I quite enjoy. I do my socialising by playing football on a Tuesday for an hour and watching Hanwell Town play on a Saturday. I can't take clubbing, I don't like pubs much either. I used to drink a lot until I was about 20, I stopped completely for a while except on my 21st birthday. Now I drink on average 1 pint a week, I came to the conclusion if you need to be smashed to enjoy something you probably don't enjoy it much so find something else. Drinking is now only really for relaxing the mood. the cinema seems so expensive to me (in the last 5 years I have probably been to the cinema in single figures). I like getting a delivery in and putting a film on Netflix or on dvd (i'll also buy mini bags of chocolate for that).

Im 36 but i honestly dont feel a lot different to what i did at 25 or so, despite being a dad now also. Nights out are definitely not something i require anymore though, neither is a skinful of liquor, although i still love live music...and hobby/interest wise im still into the same stuff, i find the internet has made it easy to keep in touch with everything you like rather than being forced and failing to connect with newer things with regards to music, modern day pro wrestling etc. all that old stuff is being re-discovered and re-examined now and i fucking love that.

My hair is fucked though.

I have a mate whos the same age though who literally has let his age ruin his life. He simply cant handle getting older, its to the point where hes started having and plans to have more cosmetic surgery. Its all very weird and a little sad.
