Tried to mix it up a little bit. It's getting harder though to put a fresh spin on it. So I just made it pink!

Thanks to WWE for the two Rumbles this year. That's going to break my database. Re-design for next year.

My first favourite new fact is that Chris Jericho is four minutes away from having spent a cumulative FIVE HOURS in Rumbles. Which is mad.

(also @tiger_rick - expect the usual post-Rumble PM after this year's show with my updated Rumble Ages database...)

Cheers Harmy. You can research all the women!

Oh no! I probably won't do that until they've done at least 2 women's Rumbles. You never know if this'll end up being a one-off...

Second new favourite fact: more than half of the people in the 1989 and 1992 Rumbles are Hall of Famers. That's cool.

Edit: @tiger_rick - you've got Mankind listed twice in the surprise entrants for 1998. Also, what are the chances of you having a list of grand totals for elimination methods? I love the year-by-year most common methods of elimination but it'd be fascinating to see the total number of people who were backdropped/clotheslined/thrown out etc.

I love these. Gives me something to do at work.

Quick one though. I'm pretty sure Val Venis and the Godfather were also suprise/returning superstars in 2002?

They were advertised returning stars, yeah. Though not quite in the same league as Goldust and Mr Perfect, as they were both already on the WWE payroll, it was just a case of repackaging them as they hadn't been seen since their Right To Censor days, IIRC.

Looking at the year by year stats, the disparity between some of the longest and shortest stints in the same Rumble is huge. This is probably something Bruce Prichard's talked about on his podcast but I can't listen to that because Conrad so I wonder, how do they work out payscales for Rumble participants? Do you get more if you do a 40-minute stint as opposed to a 12-second one, or is it still dependent on your level on the card, does everybody get the same?

There's only three of us in the office today so I'll need to find a reason for not speaking to anyone for the rest of the afternoon. Top work as always, @tiger_rick.

Also, would Test not qualify for the 'never made it' list, after being jumped backstage and replaced by Foley in 2004? Or is it just people who came out before getting duffed up?

Good work as per usual Rick.

So what do we think will happen in the Rumble then? I'm really starting to get on board with air_raid's theory that Nakamura might win it to set up a WWE title match against Styles at Mania, halfway down the card. I can't see a Smackdown star winning the women's Rumble (Becky Lynch at a very long shot), plus the Elimination Chamber is a Raw show (where they can determine the #1 contender for the Universal title, as surely Brock isn't going to compete in it) so it makes sense that somebody from Smackdown will win the men's rumble.

I'm probably more intrigued by the women's match, purely because by my calculations we will see around TWELVE surprise entrants. I love a surprise entrant. If you exclude Charlotte and Bliss, I think there are 18 women on the main rosters at the moment. If we assume there won't be any women's title defences on the card then you have a dozen spaces left. I reckon you will see quite a few former 'divas' (Beth Phoenix could be a likely candidate, maybe a Bella or two), a few NXT gals (I'm predicting at at least the Iconic Duo and Nikki Cross) and perhaps a couple from the Mae Young Classic that don't fall under either of those categories. If WWE aren't bringing in Rousey, then it has to be Asuka for the win, right?

Cena still needs his record-setting title reign. I'm amazed they went all last year without doing it.

Last minute elimination for him, comes back at Elim Chamber for an old yeller style redemption? They never followed up on him discarding his gear when he lost to Reigns either.

It's a flaw in my database. Because Foley nicked his spot, I've never included him. Otherwise I'd have 31 entries.
