Bit of a side-stepper from the 2017 was shit for the majority thread. This is to record, as frequently as you want, the good craic that happens to you throughout this year. Hopefully when it gets to the end of the year we can look back and some of the posts in here and realise there were some marvellous times had, it wasn’t all shit as we tend to convince ourselves.

It doesn’t have to be big things such as a new job, marriage, bairns etc, although those things will be fantastic news and are very much welcome, the idea is to post nice shit that has happened to you in general, the small things that make you feel boss.

Only rule is no negativity, take that to the doomed megathread. Keep the vibes positive in here you daft hippies.

I’ll start...

My 1 year old found my stash of old WCW figures and they have now become her bath toys. This started on New Years day and it’s ace. She also thinks they should be Christmas tree decorations.

Stage 1 of getting her in to the grappling.. complete.

Took the kids out yesterday to the cinema (The Jungle Bunch, piece of shit, but was Odeon Kids Club so whatevs).

Anyway, my 8 year old has always been a voracious reader and got nearly 20 books for Christmas. She's bang into Jacqueline Wilson at the moment and has polished off most of her's, and got A Little Princess and The Secret Garden as well. She then told me she wants to read Little Women next! (Never read it myself). She was reading to me in Waterstones and pronounced the word pre-eclampsyia perfectly and I was astounded. Big her up, and her Mum for encouraging it along with me.

Our 4 year old has developed a bit slower than the eldest and I know you mustn't compare but it's tough not to in your own head, not sure what other parents of 2 feel about this. Our eldest had the benefit of our undivided attention pre school with flash cards and learning tools etc so she could read well before reception and unfortunately the youngest hasn't what with it being a fractured couple of years. Anyway, something has clicked as she has gone from not being able to read anything a few weeks ago to us co-reading a Spot book in Waterstones yesterday.

The look of pride on her little face and the little jig she does when she gets a word right and gets praised makes my heart swell. Big up my kids...

Then, a brother of one of my secondary school friends got in touch via Twitter. Turns out he is a hip hop producer and we started chatting about me promoting some shows or maybe even releasing a record, something I've always wanted to do :) No idea how to but I'll learn

I'm off to Jamaica next week, and hopefully Cuba in June or July.

Not as great as having kids doing cool stuff, but I'm looking forward to it.

Cuba is bloody awesome. Havana is incredibly interesting, but a bit sad as the poverty is horrific. I actually think the tour guide that we went with was quite exploitative in the way that they showed us some areas, verging on 'poverty porn' but standing in Revolution Square gives you absolute goosebumps.

and @John Matrix that sounds awesome :)

On the subject of heartwarming things our kids have done, my three year old attempting to have a proper conversation with our Google Home unit is fucking smashing.

My daughter is the same John. We got one at Christmas and she scurries off to Home to ask it what it's favourite pokemon is, always ending conversations with "thank you" and "you're awesome Google".

Went from zero to hero in my relationship on New Years' Day.

Asked the Mrs (huge fan of the graps), what she wanted, if she could have anything, for Christmas. She said two tickets away would be perfect.

Roll on Christmas Day, she sees a small envelope and instantly gets giddy, showers me in kisses...until she opens it and sees two tickets for Newcastle away at Stoke City. She said two tickets away, right? Cue a week of me being called every name under the sun but my own. Joy.

Amazingly, I convince her to come along still and as it turned out, we won, great day out for the Toon. I suggest we go for a meal (Miller and Carter Steakhouse in Talke, amazing) and after a rather quiet time, I push the bill towards her in true twat mode. She looks like she's gonna kill me, until she unfolds it and see's that I've written on it "You're going to WrestleMania!!".

Became a hero instantly. I'm sure other diners must have thought I'd proposed with the way she reacted!

I'm seeing my godson and his Mum for the first time in far too long at lunch and have got him his first keyboard as a Christmas present. Vividly remember what a wonderful feeling it was having my earliest piano lessons at a similar age to him and I hope he enjoys it.

Nowhere near as lovely as some of the things mentioned so far, but my company has moved work premises over the Christmas break so is now a nice 10 minute stroll away from my house, instead of a 30 minute bus-ride with an assortment of freaks and criminals.

I've moved in with a mate for a bit who has an ace flat. Looking out the windows at both sides of the building and it's surrounded by pine trees. It's lush, like living in the middle of a golf course. A two minute walk from a riverside walk I've always found to be bliss for the mind, and I have some family really close by. I've started working out again and feel great for it. I've started playing snooker a lot recently so looking forward to spending more time in the club.

Day 3 in and all’s going grand.

I’ve just been asked to join a wedding band as a front man. No idea if I will yet. It’s been ages since I’ve performed live and it could mean a long gig most Saturdays. I’m not sure if I can be arsed, but the money is appealing. Can easily walk away with £150 each, per gig. Either way, I’m going to pop to a rehearsal next week. The fact I’ve been asked is pretty humbling.

Just a little thing: I'm looking forward to my youngest nephew opening up the UK title I've got him.

I predict that as soon as it leaves the packaging, it will be in his mouth.

Kid loves Pete Dunne.

Spent the first two nights stopping with an old friend of mine.

Knock on the door today, parcel. I forgot I bought a Dreamcast on eBay about a month ago. Arrived today, so early evening was spent on Sonic Adventure.

Jackpot...

However, all I can think of when I see any reference to sonic adventure is the constantly repeated advert/playthrough for Sonic Adventure 2 on Game Network, with Everytime you need me by Fragma blasting over the top of it.

Then Babestation happened and Sonic and Fragma did one.
