stewdogg
I’m trying to say that someone that is willing to watch families drown in the English Channel is troubled by the actions from last night then it must have been bad (if it attracted her attention). Maybe there are other actions behind her actions (in finding out why last night was so shit)
Retro Red
Combine ACAB with ATAC and this is what you get. Priti Patel has no emotion about anything, just  a keen eye for anything which speaking out on will gain her political points. She’s an abhorrent being and that should never be forgotten no matter how humanitarian her stance on a subject may appear.
Paid Members unfitfinlay Posted March 14, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 14, 2021 Crazy to see the Met Police taking instructions from the Donald Trump book of defusing tensions. Banning the organised vigils, where they could've taken steps to enforce social distancing, masks, etc meant that this was inevitable. Women rightfully feel scared and betrayed. You aren't going to make that go away by stopping them from expressing it. Doing so violently just makes things far far worse. I'm guessing politicians and the media will express outrage for a couple of days before the smearing of the women who were arrested starts. Paid Members Jazzy G Posted March 14, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 14, 2021 (edited) The awful thing is you know the news media will try and blame this on the people holding the vigil and not the Police in attendence. I had several friends posting stuff from this on their Facebook last night cinstantly having to edit the wording of the posts because they'd been hearing from friends that their posts had been taken down due to the way they'd phrased certain sentiments, such as the references to all members of the constabulary being the children of unmarried parentage, even in the ACAB form.. CavemanLynn
This is the political weaponizing of Covid, everything the conspiracy theorist anti-maskers cried about. Failing to work with the organisers beforehand to ensure everyone's safety, it can feel like it was deliberately orchestrated to ensure the night ended with conflict and arrests. Even if those arrests were actually not related to the purpose of the vigil, that's the last optic of the night. It's either shameless oppression or utter incompetence, both of which are completely valid reasons for public protest, which, oh look, the authorities want to prevent. Making it illegal to hold your government to account. Right.
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted March 14, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 14, 2021 Doesn't help that Starmer has whipped the party to abstain again in the vote to ban protests when it happens. Damn that Jeremy Corbyn.

She's not concerned at all, she's just taking a stance to absolve herself from any responsibility here and throw Cressida Dick under the bus. They're both responsible.
Paid Members Nexus Posted March 14, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 14, 2021 Don't the Tories have enough numbers to vote it through anyway?
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted March 14, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 14, 2021 It's a nice gesture, but that 80 seat majority is going to take some beating.

Paid Members Jazzy G Posted March 14, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 14, 2021 True enough. Starmer's managed to miss so many open goals during his time as leader of the opposition they'll be getting Danny Baker to make a video about it soon.
The Maestro
Awful scenes at Clapham Common. Pretty silly of people to turn up en masse for a vigil in Covid stricken times with the volume of absurdity turned up to 11 when the boys in blue turn up. What makes it worse is that we saw Rangers fans ran amok in Glasgow last week with little police intervention so people will feel rightly frustrated with yesterday's events. Paid Members Jazzy G Posted March 14, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted March 14, 2021 Patrick Vallance & Chris Whitty both said in press briefings that the protests and all those people going to the beach last year had negligible affects on the increased cases of Covid. The police's statement about it today was further icing on the turd cake.,
