Football Predictions League 2017-18

The results went into the opening post earlier this evening. The updated table should be correct even though it requires twice as much concentration as a normal round, so do let me know if you spot any possible errors. The average score this time out was 13.2 points, which is of course the equivalent of a less impressive 6.6 in an ordinary week. The big news is that we finally have a new person at the summit, as Rory has been rediscovering his usual wooden spoon-chasing form over the past month and it's finally caught up with him. The beneficiary is top scorer Glenryck Pilchards, but even TildeGuy has now moved level on points with the former leader. At the other end, Stinky Dad is cut further adrift as he's ended up 14 points behind MVP RULZ.

Draws at Swansea, Newport, West Brom and Gateshead proved fruitful alongside home wins at Leeds, Scunthorpe, Sheffield United and Watford plus away victories for Wigan, Swindon, Peterborough, Norwich, Notts County and Celtic. The first of those had a bit of a crazy scoreline, though. Sheffield Wednesday-Middlesbrough resulted in a double sacking, but the other outcomes were all even more difficult to foresee.

A new set of 20 will be up in the original post shortly.

Well, you were right that there'd only be one goal in the game! I selected that fixture while Monk was still in charge. Villa have had an excellent few days, to be fair. :(

Sorry to hear that, pal. I hope the syrup is at least tasty. Get well soon, eh?

The results went into the opening post tonight, and the table has only been figured out and uploaded within the past hour. Once again I welcome being alerted to any corrections, but the scores were so low it's unlikely there are many! The average haul was a pitiful 5.7 points. For a double round, that's a shocker. MVP RULZ moved away from danger with a respectable 11, whilst Glenryck still leads by a dozen points over TildeGuy. Both of those at least made it into double figures, but former longtime leader RoryFice moved further back. Stinky is now 13 points adrift at the other end. Somehow I managed only a single point this time out. I was denied 3 more by a last-minute equaliser from Barrow at the Racecourse Ground in a six-goal thriller.

Elsewhere, goals were at a premium. Five stalemates did not prove fruitful across the board, with the other outcomes notably less useful as we went down the divisions. Perhaps the multi-tier domestic format isn't the right approach for Christmas, New Year and Easter after all? The most productive lower-league scoreline was the one at the New Lawn, widely but slightly misleadingly reported as involving a father and son both being sent off.

Oh well. Lots more minnows to feature next week before we go back to normal in the following round...
