My favourite wrestling event of the year is back! The tournament proper starts showing next week and the final fight will happen at the women's exclusive PPV which is a great place for it.

There's already a bracketology show up on the network like last year that introduces some of the competitors and goes through the matchups.

It looks like a good crop again for the most part this year, I'm pleased they bought those two Aussies back but there are a couple of returns I'd just as soon see someone new in the place of.

I don't know much about of the new entrants beyond Madison Rayne, who is worth looking out for?

Meiko Satomura is, in my opinion, the best wrestler in the world right now or, at the very least, I couldn't come up with a top five that didn't include her. She's the most exciting entrant, both in terms of how good she is, and what it means politically to have her there.

Killer Kelly has impressed me every time I've seen her - believable, hard hitting and scrappy. She's on one of the Royal Albert Hall shows if you want to see what she's like before watching the MYC.

I'm keen to see what Jessie Elaban brings to the table - Bracketology made her come across as quite endearing and fun.

I feel exactly the same about Io. Or at least I did before she left Stardom the first time, I'm quite a bit behind, but she was the best woman in the world in my eyes when last I got to see her wrestle.

What does it mean, politically?

Not sure how you currently gauge her as being one of the best in the world, when she's scarcely had a worthwhile opponent in years. One of THE best women, yeah for sure. That's been the case for pushing 2 decades, but this seems more like a swan song than the beginning of anything.

I'm going to root for Meiko as I love a veteran storyline.  Also curious to see if  Robbie Brookside's daughter has inherited his startling good looks.

The idea that Meiko hasn't had a worthwhile opponent I find baffling - she's consistently blown me away in matches I've seen live, let alone the far greater range if opponents she's competed against outside of that.  She has increasingly moved toward using her reputation to put over wrestlers she's trained or us otherwise keen on, but there are still very few on her level.

As for politically, it's interesting because she runs her own company, she's been open about how she's using the WWE platform to get more attention on women's wrestling, and she's reluctant to put over anyone who hasn't earned it. She's not there on WWE's terms because she's desperate to work there, she's there because *they* want her.

Satomura Vs Killer Kelly immediately sticks out to me as a round stealer. Just noticed Shirai Vs Brookside aswell.

I'd heard Kaitlyn's match wasn't great and now I see why. Why put those two together? Give her a fucking chance why don't you?!

Jessie Elaban looks like someone off of pornhub and I expect Kacy Catanzaro to do well......
