Hotels will cost you Otto. Similar prices to NYC hotels due to less rooms, though with the girlfriend sharing expenses that may not be as bad? (Could add to it right enough!) Flights I would expect to pay around £500 at least unless you get really lucky. When I went for 30 they didn't have abl regular route and so it was very expensive for anything that made any sense. I took terrible flights to save money:

Dublin - JFK - x4 different trains to get to Newark inside three hours - Newark - Dallas - Dallas - New Orleans.

You'll likely get a much better journey than that now, but probably for £500 and upwards of that.

Hotels I would expect to pay £200 per night, per room for a three star hotel.

Drinks $10 per, on Bourbon street.

Food - fairly standard pricing I thought.

The Voodoo, Ghost, Swamp and City tours are all great fun, as well as spending some time in Harrah's casino, and just taking in the atmosphere of the live music everywhere you go on the streets.

If you can make it work financially, absolutely do it. You'll have a ball. And don't bother with Conventions if you want to meet wrestling personalities, as they all converge on the French quarter as well.

Oh yeah, Cafe Au Lait's and Beignet's are beautiful. Cafe Du Mond will be packed out for these, but really they are the same thing in any of the street side cafe's.

You're always a help in these threads, thanks Al! I think the London > Dublin then Dublin > NOLA route is the most appealing, and after a check of Airbnb there are some decent places 15/20 minutes away from the French Quarter that won't cost an arm and a leg.

Did anyone use the street cars over there, and are there any areas I should definitely avoid due to them being rough? I'd prefer not to be staying in somewhere like the absolute ghetto that was the area around the Citrus Bowl last year.

You're very welcome, my pleasure. I didn't stray much from the French Quarter in my search for digs the last time so I'm glad to hear there is a bit of value found elsewhere. New Orleans is fairly dangerous in general from what I gather, I'm unsure myself on particular areas, but I'm sure some others on here will know of some no-go areas.

One of the mornings I was there at 30 I picked up the newspaper and it claimed there had been three separate gun related shootings in the city the night before. I guess it's things like that which lead to high prices in what is percieved to be the safe areas.

Just being as vigilant as possible with being aware of what is going on around you, taking transport rather than walking when off the main streets and trying to stay in groups and well lit areas is probably where to start with regards to avoiding trouble. Hopefully somebody else here will be able to give advice for all that are planning on going about the definite areas to avoid.

Did people that went out to NOLA for 30 find a particular sweet spot for flights and hotels? They're really expensive going from London, and even Dublin flights are over £500 at the moment, whilst accommodation in and around the French Quarter looks extortionate on Booking.com right now.

I haven't booked my accommodation yet but I'm flying from London Heathrow to Atlanta on 04/04/18 and driving to NOLA the next day. Flights cost £460 on Omegaflightstore.com which was by far the cheapest I could find and was using like for like searches of date ranges etc. Going for two weeks to make a proper trip out of it.

Trying to look at the likes of AirB&B for accommodation but finding the 'right one' is proving difficult at the minute! Though on the bright side, I have my 'Mania ticket so I'll at least know Ill be there!

There's a rumour from PWInsider (so take with a handful of salt) that Batista is to be the headline induction for next years HOF.

Also, the network is adding two new collections- Sting:The Icon Defined and Undertaker:Dawn of the Deadman

...this means that match has been confirmed apparently, according to some. No-one that matters, but some all the same

Anyone found any decent flight prices for this yet? I don’t think I’ve ever seen flights as dear for a Mania trip as this one.

Prices are ridiculous.  I've not seen it drop anywhere close to what I paid return for 30.  Makes me question next year when I can't see any flights for less than around 750 return, Orlando this year was done for 270 return!

Tickets on sale Friday November 17th, no news yet on travel packages which if staying true to previous years will be on sale later this month. Cheapest accommodation(French Quarter)/flight packages are floating at around £2000 at the minute, just can't justify it.
