Cry Baby (a little known musical starring Johnny Depp) is a much better film about 50s bikers. Â The original Grease however, trumps both and is a bloody masterpiece. Dirty Dancing dry bums them both though.Dirty Dancing is beyond overrated, surviving solely on women lusting over Pat. So many of its fans actually have no idea what the plot is. All they know is holiday, melons, Pat, water, abortion, "Nobody puts Baby in the corner", dance, lift. Shite.  Strictly Ballroom is a million times better. My 4 year old girl has done a pretty good job of piecing together the plot just from the soundtrack except she deduced the main character is called 'Be My Baby' and not Baby. I think I prefer Grease 2 to the original. I like Stephanie's (Michelle Pfeiffer) character more than Sandy and both Nogerelli and Michael are much better looking than Danny Zucko or Kenickie (although I prefer Johnny). Did you ever go to the Rock Island Diner at Meadowhall? I would probably hate it now, but as a ten year old, the staff dancing to that on the tables seemed so cool.
