John Chapman put together a WOS pilot a few years ago? I never knew that, I thought he left the wrestling industry years ago.

Well this pretty much confirms what we expected, I wonder what Impact's involvement will be. The recent deal with AAA plus their relationship with NOAH added to all of this could make it a very interesting time for wrestling. Incredible to think how important the UK has become in the game of wrestling dominance today.

Massive potential turnaround for Impact. There's still work to be done, but by God there's been more work gone into salvaging this over the past months than the previous few years put together.

10 Part Series to be taped at Preston Guildhall. Expected 5pm Saturday timeslot. Will be interesting to see how many of the original roster will return as I don't believe they all have contracts.

Wonder if Fludder has booked Evoque for some afternoon shows yet,

World of Sport wrestling is returning to ITV on Saturday afternoons – after a break of over 30 years.

The broadcaster brought back the show for a one-off special which aired on New Year’s Eve and proved to be a hit with more than a million viewers who loved the grappling action on offer.

Now thirty years after the original WOS ended – and legendary stars such as Big Daddy, Mick McManus and Rollerball Rocco left British screens – a new ten part series will feature the very best of today’s wrestlers from the current red-hot UK wrestling scene.

Full details will be revealed at a launch event in Manchester on Monday, but the wrestlers will be filmed competing in front of a live audience at the intimate Preston Guild Hall in May, with tickets going on sale next week.

World of Sport previously aired every Saturday in the UK between 1965 and 1985, running in competition with BBC’s Grandstand.

The show previously featured an array of sports, though it became well known for prominently featuring pro wrestling and made household names of several of its competitors.

Director of Entertainment, ITV Studios Manchester, Tom Mclennan said: “Britain’s wrestling scene is thriving and there has never been a better time to bring it back to ITV after a gap of 30 years.”

Jeff Jarrett, Chief Creative Officer for IMPACT Wrestling, added: “The WOS brand is etched in professional wrestling tradition. My family’s lineage in the industry dates back 70-plus years, so I am honoured to revive the legacy of this historic British series.”

It’s thought the show will once again be given a teatime slot of around 5pm with bosses hopeful millions of old and new fans will tune in.

Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks were among some of the more famous faces who wrestled under the World of Sport banner during its initial run.

On Monday the full details of the WOS live shows will be announced in Manchester at 2pm. Fans are invited to attend to the launch, which will include a Q&A and meet & greet. Places are extremely limited, to reserve one please email wswaudience@itv.com

PCW have ran Preston Guildhall for their Tribute To The Troops Shows. Vince invading Norwich and Jeff invading Preston. What a time to be alive.

That's a lovely looking venue. Gas it been used before? Can't believe it's slipped under the pro wrestling radar before now!

It was a historic venue for wrestling dating back to the 1930s and has hosted hundreds of shows.

In recent years PCW ran an iPPV there last June and is running a show there this coming June 24th.

For those keeping track, in the space of 1 month:

May 6 PCW Blackpool

May 6 WWE UK Norwich

May 7 WWE UK Norwich

May 7 Rev Pro London

May 7 WWE Liverpool

May 8 WWE RAW London

May 9 WWE Smackdown London

May 12 ICW Leicester

May 13 ICW Cardiff

May 14 ICW London

May 14 PROGRESS Manchester

May 25 WOS Preston

May 26 WOS Preston

May 27 PCW Preston (announced months ago)

May 27 PROGRESS London

May 28 PROGRESS London

May 29 PROGRESS London

June 5-11 WWE NXT UK tour, including June 6 in Manchester.

And this list isn't even exhaustive of all planned UK dates, of all significant promotions shows during this time. The amount of dates in the north west is pretty amazing alone compared to just 2 years ago.

I wonder if Fludder was made aware before announcement. Or is helping them in any way. You'd think yes. With more wrestling fans being drawn to the area should increase his draw. With what happened to WAW with them not even mentioning they were running EPIC studios after having no problem getting in contact to tell them Swagger was still under a no compete. Shows signs of being with us or against us. Jefferson been to PCW a couple of times and enjoyed it so you'd think they'd have a relationship. Somebody on here knows, tell.

Will something like this lead to Grado getting an Impact push? I imagine we will get the X division champion on the show, Spud and others like Storm and Edwards. Shame Galloway is no longer on Impact as I would have loved to have seen him on WoS.

Also if Jarrett is executive producer does this mean no More Shane and his shit beard.
