Van Dammer
It looks great. i'm not into the immersive stuff so I dont think the resort would be for me, but the visuals of the place should be amazing and the rides in particular look great. Paid Members quote the raven Posted July 16, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted July 16, 2017 Starwars land should be open by summer 2019 shouldn't it? They will move heaven and earth to get it ready for the summer rush. Im all booked for October 18 with the aim to see toy story.

Give the new Star Wars land time to bed down and we can save more for the additional week.  We are going over for my wife's 40th in late 2022, so the plans for a Summer 2019 opening made me think the same thing. Any teething problems sorted out, hardcore fans will have come & goone over those first three years, then out of the Summer season in late 2022 I am having some of that!
Paid Members quote the raven Posted July 16, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted July 16, 2017 The hotel seems a step to far for me, I dont want to be hassled by starwars people 24/7 after spending a day in the heat wandering around a park. Im sure they will make a mint from it but a themed hotel would have suited me alot better. I wonder if uni will follow suit and have a harry potter experience hotel? By the time 2020 rolls around 2 weeks wont be enough to see all the theme parks, 3 weeks will be where its at......good i hope the free DDP is still on or its going to get £££££££££
Van Dammer
I think the idea of the hotel, from what ive read. Is that you will only stay there for a night or two and it'll be adjacent from, or easily accessible to the Star Wars land. I think the lack of windows will gave you a real feeling a being somewhere unique and distant. Particular if they have some kind of experience when entering the hotel that makes you feel like you've been transported somewhere. Probably not for me though, im more of an explorer than somebody who wants to spend five minutes talking to a bounty hunter with tentacles.
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted July 17, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted July 17, 2017 The immersive hotel thing sounds amazing to me, I'd definitely want to do that. I used to dream about things like this when I was younger and often wondered why they didn't exist already. The answer of course, is money. That's also why a lot of enthusiasm for this venture will turn to rage when it is eventually revealed just how prohibitively expensive it will end up being. In the week we've been here, it's by far the best place we've eaten at. I had the Blue Plate burger which knocked my socks off, it was really, really nice and very well cooked. The wife had a chicken dish that she said was excellent. All the staff were really excellent, too. Prices are good and if you go, you must start with the warm chocolate bread with salted caramel butter. That alone has to be the best bargain in the whole park - $2.65 which is more than enough for two to share and was lovely! It's on my list for my weekend of Halloween Horror Nights in September. Yes, I'm going to Orlando for 4 days only. Hopefully squeeze in Pandora as well. I'm going with a mate so not allowed to go Magic Kingdom or Epcot as their my wife's favourites and I'm leaving her and the kids at home
Van Dammer
Im tempted to try that place but theres just so many other places I have to eat in when at Universal. Mels Drive In is somewhere I have to eat every time and ive still not eaten anywhere in the Harry Potter areas

Half pound housemade patty, grilled meatloaf, garlic mashed potatoes, Wisconsin cheddar cheese, sweet corn, toasted brioche, bordelaise sauce. Never apologise for a bit of food porn. Paid Members Nick Soapdish Posted August 4, 2017 Author Paid Members Share Posted August 4, 2017 I have to say food like that never appeals to me. I cannot stand food that looks impossible to even eat. Let alone the fact Sweetcorn should be nowhere near a fucking burger!

Although I can’t even get my girlfriend to Thorpe Park Fright Nights as she’s petrified so I’m doubtful ever to get to HHN unfortunately. What were the mazes like and how did Saw compare to the Thorpe Park version if you’ve done it?
Paid Members Monkee Posted October 2, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted October 2, 2017 I would genuinely have a heart attack if I ever had to do something like HHN at Universal. I was there one October and made sure I left the park before it got dark. However, I watched the launch on Orlando Informer’s page and this year’s houses sound great and the reviews have been very positive this year (I remember quite a few complaints about one of the houses last year). I don’t like being scared though. I went on The Mummy ‘ride’ in Universal LA a few years ago. It is (was? Not sure it’s still the same) a haunted house rather than a coaster like Orlando but I didn’t realise this or I’d NEVER have gone on it. It was room after dark room with things hanging from the ceiling or bumping you or shooting compressed air at you and it was never ending. Every time I thought this had to be the last room there’d just be more of the same. Eventually I made it out and had to sit down. I think a few people must have been surprised at what the ride actually was as there was about a dozen other people sitting on the ground at the exit trying to compose themselves. Paid Members BigJag Posted October 2, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted October 2, 2017 They must have changed that. As when I went during WM21 week. It was definitely a coaster type ride. No loop de loops. Very fast though. It took you forward along the track at break. Neck speed. Then did the return journey in reverse. I had my eyes closed the whole time. I think I had wobbly legs afterwards too. Totally discombobulated.
